Hard, wear-resistant and well-adhesive titanium nitride coatings on cemented carbide cutting tools were prepared by the pulsed high energy density plasma technique at ambient temperature. The results of Auger spectra analysis indicated that the interface between the coating and substrate was more than 250 nm. Under optimized deposition conditions, the highest critical load measured by nanoscratch tester was more than 90 mN, which meant that the TiN film was well adhesive to the substrate; the highest nanohardness and Young抯 modulus according to nanoindentation tests were near to 27 and 450 GPa. The results of cutting tests evaluated by turning hardened CrWMn steel in industrial conditions indicated that the wear resistance and edge life of the cemented carbide tools were enhanced dramatically because of the deposition of titanium nitride coatings. These improvements were attributed to the three combined effects: the deposition and ion implantation of the pulsed plasma and the becoming finer of the grain sizes. 展开更多

Yttrium stabilized zirconia (YS... The formation of ceramic coatings on metal substrate by cathodic electrolytic deposition (CELD) has received more attention in recent years. But only thin filmscan be prepared via CELD. Yttrium stabilized zirconia (YSZ) ceramic coatings were deposited on FeCrAI alloy by a novel technique--cathodic micro-arc electrodeposition (CMED).The result shows that, when a high pulse electric field is applied to the cathode which was pre-deposited with a thin YSZ film, dielectric breakdown occurs and micro-arc discharges appear. Coatings with reasonably thickness of-300μm and crystalline structure can be deposited on the cathode by utilizing the energy of the micro-arc. The thickness of the as-deposited coating is dominated by the voltage and the frequency. Y2O3 is co-deposited with ZrO2 when Y(NO3)3 was added to the electrolyte, which stabilize t-phase, t′-phase and c-phase of ZrO2 at room temperature. The amount of the m-ZrO2 in the coating is diminished by increasing the concentration of Y(NO3)3 in the electrolyte.This report describes the processing of CMED and studies the microstructure of the deposited YSZ coatings. 展开更多

XPS(X-ray photoelectron spec... Cobalt was used to modify the surface of spinel LiMn2O4 by a solution technique to produce Co3+-modified surface material (COMSM). Cobalt was only doped into the surface of LiMn2O4 spinel. XPS(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) analysis confirms the valence state of Co3+. COMSM has stable spinel structure and can prevent active materials from the corrosion of electrolyte. The ICP(inductively coupled plasma) determination of the spinel dissolution in electrolyte showed the content of Mn dissolved from COMSM was smaller than that from the pure spinel. AC impedance patterns show that the charge-transfer resistance (Ret) for COMSM is smaller than that for pure spinel. The particles of COMSM are bigger in size than those of pure spinel according to the micrographs of SEM(scanning electron microscopy). The determinations of the electrochemical characterization show that COMSM has both good cycling performance and high initial capacity of 124.1 mA/h at an average capacity loss of 0.19 mAh/g per cycle. 展开更多
