The effect of Ce on inclusions and impact toughness of 2Cr13 stainless steel were studied by SEM and electron spectroscopy. Thermodynamic calculation was used to analyze the formation of RE inclusions in 2Cr13 stainless steel. The result shows that Al2 O3 and MnS can be entirely replaced by Ce2 O2 S and CeS. Fracture is changed from cleavage to ductile fracture by adding Ce to the 2Cr13 stainless steel, and the spherical rare earth oxysulfide inclusions (Ce2 O2 S) in the dimple are the main factors. The transverse impact value of 2Cr13 stainless steel has been improved obviously by Ce. The transverse impact value of RE-2Cr13 is increased by 54.55% at the temperature of --40℃, comparing with 0RE-2Cr13. 展开更多

Synthetic slag samples of the CaO-SiO2-MgO-A1203-Cr203 system were obtained to clarify the effect of FeO on the formation of spinel phases and Cr distribution. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), as well as the thermodynamic software FactSage 6.2, were used for sample characterization. The results show that the addition of FeO can decrease the viscosity of molten slag and the precipitation temperatures of melilite and merwinite. The solidus temperature significantly decreases from 1400 to 1250℃ with the increase of FeO content from 0wt% to 6wt%. The addition of FeO could enhance the content of Cr in spinel phases and reduce the content of Cr in soluble minerals, such as merwinite, melilite, and dicalcium silicate. Hence, the addition of FeO is conducive to decreasing Cr leaching. 展开更多

Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) nanosheets have attracted significant attention for their potential in electromagnetic wave absorption(EWA).However,their inherent self-stacking and exorbitant electrical conductivity inevitably lead to serious impedance mismatch,restricting their EWA application.Therefore,the optimization of impedance matching becomes crucial.In this work,we developed polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@SiO_(2) composites with a sandwich-like core–shell structure by coating SiO_(2) on PMMA@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x).The results demonstrate that the superiority of the SiO_(2) layer in combination with PMMA@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x),outperforming other relative graded distribution structures and meeting the requirements of EWA equipment.The resulting PMMA@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@SiO_(2) composites achieved a minimum reflection loss of-58.08 dB with a thickness of 1.9 mm,and an effective absorption bandwidth of 2.88 GHz.Mechanism analysis revealed that the structural design of SiO_(2) layer not only optimized impedance matching,but also synergistically enhanced multiple loss mechanisms such as interfacial polarization and dipolar polarization.Therefore,this work provides valuable insights for the future preparation of high-performance electromagnetic wave absorbing Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)-based composites. 展开更多

A phase-pure NaTi2(PO4)3/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanocomposite was prepared using a microwave-assisted one-pot method and subsequent heat treatment. The well-crystallized NaTi2(PO4)3 nanoparticles (30-40 nm) were uniformly precipitated on rGO templates through Ti-O-C bonds. The chemical interactions between the NaTi2(PO4)3 nanoparticles and rGO could immobilize the NaTi2(PO4)3 nanoparticles on the rGO sheets, which might be responsible for the excellent electrochemical performance of the nanocomposite. The NaTi2(PO4)B/rGO nanocomposite exhibited a specific capacity of 128.6 mA-h.g-1 approaching the theoretical value at a 0.1 C-rate with an excellent rate capability (72.9% capacity retention at 50 C-rate) and cycling performance (only 4.5% capacity loss after 1,000 cycles at a high rate of 10 C). These properties were maintained even when the electrodes were prepared without the use of an additional conducting agent. The excellent sodium storage properties of the NaTi2(PO4)B/rGO nanocomposite could be attributed to the nano-sized NaTi2(PO4)3 particles, which significantly reduced the transport lengths for Na+ ions, and an intimate contact between the NaTi2(PO4)3 particles and rGO due to chemical bonding. 展开更多

Al-Cu alloy was deformed through equal channel angular pressing(ECAP) by routes A,Ba,Bc and C up to 5 passes.ECAP was done using a 90° die for three different conditions,namely 1) as received,2) solutionised at 768 K for 1 h and 3) solutionised at 768 K for 1 h + aged at 468 K for 5 h.The microstructure,microhardness and tensile strength were studied for all the three conditions and four routes.Significant improvement in hardness(HV 184 after five passes) and strength(602 MPa after three passes) was observed in solutionised and aged 2014 Al alloy deformed through route Bc.Microstructure evolution was reasonably equiaxed in route Bc with aspect ratio of 1.6.Solutionised and aged 2014 Al alloy deformed through route Bc was identified to have better microstructure and mechanical property than the other processing routes and conditions. 展开更多

The reduction of zinc and iron oxides from electric arc furnace dust (EAFD) by carbon was investigated at temperatures between 800 and 1300℃. The analytic technique employed includes chemical analysis, X-ray fluores- cence spectroscopy (XRF), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with X-ray energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS), and thermodynamic database FactSage 6.2. It was found that the reduction of zinc and iron oxides depends largely on Boudouad reaction. At 900℃, zinc exists in tested samples as ZnO, which is reduced in the temperature range of 1000--1 100℃. At 1 100℃, 99.11% of the zinc is evaporated. The metallization ratio of Fe is 79.19% at 1300℃, as the content of Fe2+ is still 9.40%. A higher temperature is thus required for a higher reduction degree of Fe oxides by solid or gaseous carbon. 展开更多

Growth process of iron whiskers and mechanism of CaO influence on precipitation morphology of metallic iron at the gas-solid interfaces was studied. Analytical reagents of Fe(NO3)3 and Ca(NO3)2 aqueous solution were used to prepare sheet film sample of Fe2 O3-CAO by thermal decomposition at high temperature. In-situ observation was con-ducted using a stereo optical microscope and a hot-stage. And reduction kinetics of samples was studied by thermo gravimetrie (TG) method. Some samples after reduction were analyzed by using the scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer. Results indi-cate that during the reduction of iron oxides with CO, metallic iron is mostly precipitated as whisker and the precipi- tation behavior mainly depends on reduction rate. Doping CaO can significantly increase the reduction rate and effec-tively change the precipitation morphology of metallic iron after the reduction. When CaO doping concentration is less than 4% (mass percent), CaO can promote whisker formation of reduced iron; as it reaches 6% (mass per- cent), CaO inhibits iron whiskers growth; as it is more than 8% (mass percent), no whiskers could be observed. Therefore, controlling the quantity of Ca^2+ is effective to control the formation and growth of iron whiskers during gaseous reduction and thus eliminating ore grain sticking caused by intertexture of iron whiskers. 展开更多

Corrosion in complex coupling environments is an important issue in corrosion field, because it is difficult to take into account a large number of environment factors and their interactions. Design of Experiment(DOE) can present a methodology to deal with this difficulty, although DOE is not commonly spread in corrosion field. Thus, modeling corrosion of Ni-Cr-Mo-V steel in deep sea environment was performed in order to provide example demonstrating the advantage of DOE. In addition, an artificial neural network mapping using back-propagation method was developed for Ni-Cr-Mo-V steel such that the ANN model can be used to predict polarization curves under different complex sea environments without experimentation. The microstructure evolution and intergranular corrosion(IGC) behavior of high nitrogen martensitic stainless steels(MSSs) by partial replacing C by N were investigated by using microscopy, X-ray diffraction, nitric acid tests and double-loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation(DL-EPR) tests. The results show that the partial replacement of C by N first reduces and then increases the size and content of precipitates in high nitrogen MSSs, and converts the dominant precipitates from M23C6 to M2N,furthermore first improves and then deteriorates the IGC resistance. The high nitrogen MSS containing medium C and N contents provides good combination of mechanical properties and IGC resistance. 展开更多

The precipitation behaviors of X80 acicular ferrite pipeline steel were investigated by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The results show that dendritic precipitates in the as-cast steel slabs precipitate mainly in grain boundaries, and these dendritic precipitates dissolve and re-precipitate to two kinds of carbonitrides: Ti- and Nb-rich (Ti, Nb)(C, N) carbonitrides during reheating. Four types of precipitates mainly exist in the hot rolled plate: Ti-rich carbonitrides resulted from the dendritic carbonitrides undissolved during the reheating process; Ti-rich carbonitrides re-precipitated along austenite grain boundaries during the re-heating process; NbC carbides mainly heterogeneously nucleated on the small pre-existing Nb-rich carbonitrides in the hot rolling process; and NbC carbides precipitated on dislocations during hot rolling. 展开更多

Mercury(Hg)ions can lead to a serious impact on the environment;therefore,it was necessary to find an effective method for absorbing these toxic Hg ions.Here,the adsorbent(Zn-AHMT)was synthesized from zinc nitrate and 4-amino 3-hydrazine-5 mercapto-1,2,4-triazole(AHMT)by one-step method and,characterized the microstruc-ture and absorption performance by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),Brunauer-Emmett Teller(BET),Thermal Gravimetric Analyzer(TGA)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).Through a plethora of measurements,we found that the maximum adsorption capacity was 802.8 mg/g when the optimal pH of Zn-AHMT was 3.0.The isothermal and kinetic experiments confirm that the reaction process of Zn-AHMT was chemisorption,while the adsorption process conforms to the Hill model and pseudo second order kinetic model.Thermodynamic experiments showed that the adsorption process was spontaneous and exothermic.Selective experiments were performed in the simulated wastewater containing Mn,Mg,Cr,Al,Co,Ni,Hg ions.Our results showed that the Zn-AHMT has a stronger affinity for Hg ions.The removal rate of Zn-AHMT remained above 98%,indicating that the Zn-AHMT had a good stability validated by three adsorption-desorption repeatable tests.According to the XPS results,the adsorption reaction of Zn-AHMT was mainly attributed to the chelation and ion exchange.This was further explained by both density functional theory(DFT)calculation and frontier molecular orbital theory.We therefore propose the adsorption mechanism of Zn-AHMT.The adsorption reaction facilitates via the synergistic action of S and N atoms.Moreover,the bonding between the adsorbent and the N atom has been proved to be more stable.Our study demonstrated that Zn-AHMT had a promising application prospect in mercury removal. 展开更多

The effects of Z11 and AP407 collectors as well as AF65 and AF70 frothers were evaluated in the rougher flotation circuit of the Sungun copper concentrator plant using 2 4 full factorial design.Response functions were produced for both Cu grade and recovery and optimized within the experimental range.The optimum reagent dosages were found to be 12.01 g/t Z11,11 g/t AP407,3 g/t AF65 and 5 g/t AF70 to attain the maximum Cu grade(8.17%).The reagent dosages of 12 g/t Z11,11 g/t AP407,3 g/t AF65 and 15 g/t AF70 produced the maximum Cu recovery(86.44%).The collector distribution demonstrated that the distribution pattern of(32%,32%,20%,16%)can produce the best recovery(87.75%)in comparison to other examined distribution patterns. 展开更多

High-nitrogen nickel-free stainless steels were fabricated by the metal injection molding technique using high nitrogen alloying powders and a mixture of three polymers as binders.Mixtures of metal powders and binders with various proportions were also investigated, and an optimum powder loading capacity was determined as 64vol%.Intact injection molded compacts were successfully obtained by regulating the processing parameters.The debinding process for molded compacts was optimized with a combination of thermo-gravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry analysis.An optimum relative density and nitrogen content of the specimens are obtained at 1360℃,which are 97.8%and 0.79wt%,respectively. 展开更多

The effect of iron addition on the microstructure, mechanical and magnetic properties of Al-matrix composite was studied. Mechanical mixing was used for the preparation of 0, 5%, 10% and 15% Fe-Al composites(mass fraction). Mixtures of Al-Fe were compacted and sintered in a vacuum furnace at 600 °C for 1 h. X-ray diffraction(XRD) of the samples containing 5% and 10% Fe indicates the presence of Al and Fe peaks, while sample containing 15% Fe reveals Al and Al13Fe4 peaks. The results show that both densification and thermal conductivity of the composites decrease by increasing the iron content. The presence of iron in the composite improves the compressive strength and the hardness. The strengthening mechanism is associated with the grain refinement of the matrix and uniform distribution of the Fe particles, as well as the formation of Al13Fe4 intermetallic. The measured magnetization values are equal to 0.3816×10-3 A·m2/g for 5% Fe sample and increases up to 0.6597×10-3 A·m2/g for 10% Fe sample, then decreases to 0.0702×10-3 A·m2/g for 15% Fe sample. This can be explained by the formation of the diamagnetic Al13Fe4 intermetallic compound in the higher Fe content sample detected by XRD analysis. 展开更多

In this study, we investigated the performance improvement caused by the addition of copper(Cu)nanoparticles to high-density polyethylene(HDPE) matrix material. Composite materials, with filler percentages of 0.0, 2.0, 4.0, 6.0, 8.0, and 10.0 wt% were synthesized through the material extrusion(MEX)3D printing technique. The synthesized nanocomposite filaments were utilized for the manufacturing of specimens suitable for the experimental procedure that followed. Hence, we were able to systematically investigate their tensile, flexural, impact, and microhardness properties through various mechanical tests that were conducted according to the corresponding standards. Broadband Dielectric Spectroscopy was used to investigate the electrical/dielectric properties of the composites. Moreover, by employing means of Raman spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) we were also able to further investigate their vibrational, structural, and thermal properties. Concomitantly, means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM), as well as atomic force microscopy(AFM), were used for the examination of the morphological and structural characteristics of the synthesized specimens, while energy-dispersive Xray spectroscopy(EDS) was also performed in order to receive a more detailed picture on the structural characteristics of the various synthesized composites. The corresponding nanomaterials were also assessed for their antibacterial properties regarding Staphylococcus aureus(S. aureus) and Escherichia coli(E. coli) with the assistance of a method named screening agar well diffusion. The results showed that the mechanical properties of HDPE benefited from the utilization of Cu as a filler, as they showed a notable improvement. The specimen of HDPE/Cu 4.0 wt% was the one that presented the highest levels of reinforcement in four out of the seven tested mechanical properties(for example, it exhibited a 36.7%improvement in the flexural strength, compared to the pure matrix). Based on the deformation behavior and microstructural evolution of superalloy GH4742, different types of instability criteria of Prasad, Gegel, Malas, Murty and Semiatin were compared, and the physical significance of parameters was analyzed. Meanwhile, the processing maps with different instability criteria were obtained. It was shown that instability did not occur when average power dissipation rate was larger than 50% in the temperature range of 1020- 1130℃, corresponding to the strain rate range of 5 × 10-4-3.2 × 10-3 s-1. The domain is appropriate for the processing deformation of superalloy GH4742. 展开更多

The mid-T_(C) superconductor Ba1-XKXBiO3(BKBO)exhibits different superconducting mechanisms depending on x,in the range∼0.35–0.65.The optimal doping for the highest T_(C) is reported to be around x=0.4.To understand more about the dependence of the superconducting mechanism on x,high quality and reproducible epitaxial films with controlled x are needed.This has been challenging owing to the volatility of K and(to a lesser extent)Bi.In this work,we use pulsed laser deposition(PLD)with several novel process steps to achieve high-quality films in a reproducible way.These include a modified method for target preparation,a low NO_(2) growth pressure,and precise positioning of substrates in the PLD plume.Optimum T_(C) films(32 K onset)were grown from an x=0.4 target,i.e.with no excess K,as is normally used.Stable,higher K content films(made from an x=0.45 target),were also grown.These x=0.45 films had a lower T_(C) (22.5 K onset),as expected for(K)overdoped films,with very high upper critical field,H_(C2) (0 K),and irreversibility field,Hirr(0 K),values,from linear extrapolation,of∼31.7 T and∼28.8 T,respectively.The growth methodology demonstrated in this work is highly beneficial for fundamental mechanistic studies of this complex superconductor on which there is renewed interest,and where controlled compositions and crystalline quality are currently limited. 展开更多

Specific grades of high-entropy alloys(HEAs)can provide opportunities for optimizing properties toward high-temperature applications.In this work,the Co-based HEA with a chemical composition of Co_(47.5)Cr_(30)Fe_(7.5)Mn_(7.5)Ni_(7.5)(at%)was chosen.The refractory metallic elements hafnium(Hf)and molybdenum(Mo)were added in small amounts(1.5at%)because of their well-known positive effects on high-temperature properties.Inclusion characteristics were comprehensively explored by using a two-dimensional cross-sectional method and extracted by using a three-dimensional electrolytic extraction method.The results revealed that the addition of Hf can reduce Al_(2)O_(3)inclusions and lead to the formation of more stable Hf-rich inclusions as the main phase.Mo addition cannot influence the inclusion type but could influence the inclusion characteristics by affecting the physical parameters of the HEA melt.The calculated coagulation coefficient and collision rate of Al_(2)O_(3)inclusions were higher than those of HfO_(2)inclusions,but the inclusion amount played a larger role in the agglomeration behavior of HfO_(2)and Al_(2)O_(3)inclusions.The impurity level and active elements in HEAs were the crucial factors affecting inclusion formation. 展开更多
