The conference was devoted to the topic "Metallogeny of the Pacific Northwest". The Russian National IAGOD Group and the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (FEB RAS) took an active part in the preparation of the conference. The Far East Geological Institute which ranks among the oldest academic institutions in the Russian Far East simultaneously celebrated its 45th anniversary in September 2004. The Organizing Committee of the conference was chaired by Professor Alexander I. Khanchuk, Director of FEGI and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The IAGOD General Assembly on their meeting in Florence, August 2004, elected Prof. Khanchuk the IAGOD's President for the period from 2004 to 2008. The conference was sponsored by the Far Eastern Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences (FEB RAS), the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR), the International Association on the Genesis of Ore Deposits (IAGOD, the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG), and the International Geoscience Programme (IGCP Projects 473 and 486).展开更多
