Road traffic congestion has become an everyday phenomenon in today's cities all around the world. The reason is clear:at peak hours, the road network operates at full capacity. In this way, growing traffic demand cannot be satisfied, not even with traffic-responsive signal plans. The external impacts of traffic congestion come with a serious socio-economic cost:air pollution, increased travel times and fuel consumption, stress,as well as higher risk of accidents. To tackle these problems,a number of European cities have implemented reduced speed limit measures.Similarly,a general urban speed limit measure is in preparatory phase in Budapest,Hungary. In this context,a complex preliminary impact assessment is needed using a simulated environment. Two typical network parts of Budapest were analyzed with microscopic traffic simulations. The results revealed that speed limits can affect traffic differently in diverse network types indicating that thorough examination and preparation works are needed prior to the introduction of speed limit reduction. 展开更多

This study attempted to identify the level of exposure of 350 subjects to the extremely low-frequency magnetic field(ELF-MF).The occupational group showed significantly high levels of ELF-MF in every exposure indicator during work and transportation(p<0.05).About 11%and 6%of the members of the occupational group were exposed to over 2mG and 4 mG,respectively,of ELF-MF during"all"activities. The 24-h ELF-MF exposure levels of the subjects in both groups were analyzed. In the occupational group, for every activity, the percentile for less than 2mG corresponded to 100%of C-4(agriculture),95%of C-1(professional),97%of C-2(engineer,office/sales),81%of C-3(services),85%of C-5(technician,labor management),and 50%of C-6(electrician).In the non-occupational group, the percentile for less than 2mG corresponded to 92%of students,83%of homemakers,81%of the elderly, and 88%of the unemployed. The percentile for over 4mG was 5%for students, homemakers, and the elderly and 13%of the unemployed.Electricians and the unemployed had the highest ELF-MF levels in both groups, respectively.Electricians were exposed to ELF-MF mostly at work, while the unemployed subjects were most affected by the activities classified under sleep and transportation. 展开更多

A ship's crew plays an important role in the maritime transportation sector and their performance is paramont in the shipping industry. On this account, an impartial evaluation of the crew's performance is an important issue. In this paper, the ship officer's performance evaluation problem is studied. The performance evaluation criteria that shipping companies take into account are determined and a performance evaluation process is modelled by using the FAHP (Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process) based on Chang's Algorithm. Linguistic variables and fuzzy numbers are used in the assessment process. The results of the proposed model demonstrate that the FAHP method is effective and helps managers make better and more reliable decisions under fuzzy circumstances. 展开更多

The definitions of generalized pseudoconvex, generalized quasiconvex and its stri ctly generalized convexity were presented for the static programming at locally star -shaped set using the concept of right-upper derivative and the concept of sub linear. The sufficient and necessary conditions of the static programming were d erived in terms of a generalized Lemma in this paper. The results obtained are u seful for the further study on the duality of static programming and cover many already known conditions. 展开更多

We present a new solution for the elastic displacement and strain fields on or near Earth’s surface due to rectangular faults in an anisotropic half-space,expressed as a summation of(A)the solution in an infinite space which is singular, and(B)the complementary part which is regular and well-behaved.These two solutions are expressed in terms of the mathematically elegant and computationally powerful Stroh formalism and can be applied to the generally anisotropic rock half-space or a transversely isotropic rock mass with any oriented plane of isotropy. For any flat fault of polygonal shape, one needs only to carry out a simple line integral from 0 to 7 r in order to express the fault-induced response.Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the significant effect of the rock anisotropy and layer orientation on the fault-induced displacement and strain fields in anisotropic rocks.Potential applications are wide ranging, from faults in sedimentary strata to strongly deformed metamorphic rocks with steeply dipping foliation. 展开更多

Given v∈V, the representation of v with respect to W is the k-vector r(v|W)(d(v,w 1),d(v,w 2),…,d(v,w k)). The set W is a resolving set of G if r(u|W)r(v|W) implies that uv for all pairs {u,v} of vertices of G. The resolving set of G with the smallest cardinality is called a basis of G. The dimension of G, dim (G), is the cardinality of a basis for G. The bound of a Cartesian product of a connected graph H and a path P k was reached: dim(H)≤dim(H×P k)≤dim(H)+1. Then, the dimension value of some graphs was given. At last, the constructions of some graphs’ bases were showed. 展开更多
