文摘In this paper,we propose enhancements to Beetle Antennae search(BAS)algorithm, called BAS-ADAIVL to smoothen the convergence behavior and avoid trapping in localminima for a highly noin-convex objective function. We achieve this by adaptively adjusting the step-size in each iteration using the adaptive moment estimation(ADAM)update rule. The proposed algorithm also increases the convergence rate in a narrow valley.A key feature of the ADAM update rule is the ability to adjust the step-size for each dimension separately instead of using the same step-size.Since ADAM is traditionally used with gradient-based optimization algorithms, therefore we first propose a gradient estimation model without the need to differentiate the objective function.Resultantly,it demonstrates excellent performance and fast convergence rate in searching for the optimum of noin-convex functions. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm was tested on three different benchmark problems, including the training of a high-dimensional neural network. The performance is compared with particle swarm optimizer(PSO)and the original BAS algorithm.

文摘With the continuous improvement of automation, industrial robots have become an indispensable part of automated production lines. They widely used in a number of industrial production activities, such as spraying, welding, handling, etc.,and have a great role in these sectors.Recently, the robotic technology is developing towards high precision, high intelligence.Robot calibration technology has a great significance to improve the accuracy of robot. However,it has much work to be done in the identification of robot parameters. The parameter identification work of existing serial and parallel robots is introduced. On the one hand,it summarizes the methods for parameter calibration and discusses their advantages and disadvantages. On the other hand, the application of parameter identification is introduced. This overview has a great reference value for robot manufacturers to choose proper identification method, points further research areas for researchers. Finally, this paper analyzes the existing problems in robot calibration, which may be worth researching in the future.

文摘Cross-media analysis and reasoning is an active research area in computer science, and a promising direction for artificial intelligence. However, to the best of our knowledge, no existing work has summarized the state-of-the-art methods for cross-media analysis and reasoning or presented advances, challenges, and future directions for the field. To address these issues, we provide an overview as follows: (1) theory and model for cross-media uniform representation; (2) cross-media correlation understanding and deep mining; (3) cross-media knowledge graph construction and learning methodologies; (4) cross-media knowledge evolution and reasoning; (5) cross-media description and generation; (6) cross-media intelligent engines; and (7) cross-media intelligent applications. By presenting approaches, advances, and future directions in cross-media analysis and reasoning, our goal is not only to draw more attention to the state-of-the-art advances in the field, but also to provide technical insights by discussing the challenges and research directions in these areas.

文摘Visible light communication(VLC)is a promising solution to the increasing demands for wireless connectivity.Gallium nitride micro-sized light emitting diodes(micro-LEDs)are strong candidates for VLC due to their high bandwidths.Segmented violet micro-LEDs are reported in this work with electrical-to-optical bandwidths up to 655 MHz.An orthogonal frequency division multiplexing-based VLC system with adaptive bit and energy loading is demonstrated, and a data transmission rate of 11.95 Gb/s is achieved with a violet micro-LED,when the nonlinear distortion of the micro-LED is the dominant noise source of the VLC system.A record 7.91 Gb/s data transmission rate is reported below the forward error correction threshold using a single pixel of the segmented array when all the noise sources of the VLC system are present.

文摘Recently, five Global LAnd Surface Satellite(GLASS)products have been released:leaf area index(LAI),shortwave broadband albedo, longwave broadband emissivity, incident short radiation, and photosynthetically active radiation(PAR).The first three products cover the years 19822012(LAI)and 19812010(albedo and emissivity)at 15 km and 8-day resolutions, and the last two radiation products span the period 20082010 at 5 km and 3-h resolutions. These products have been evaluated and validated, and the preliminary results indicate that they are of higher quality and accuracy than the existing products. In particular, the first three products have much longer time series, and are therefore highly suitable for various environmental studies. This paper outlines the algorithms, product characteristics, preliminary validation results, potential applications and some examples of initial analysis of these products.

文摘Tomography is an informative imaging modality that is usually implemented by mechanical scanning, owing to the limited depth-of-field(DOF)in conventional systems. However, recent imaging systems are working towards more compact and stable architectures;therefore, developing nonmotion tomography is highly desirable. Here,we propose a metalens-based spectral imaging system with an aplanatic GaN metalens(NA=0.78),in which large chromatic dispersion is used to access spectral focus tuning and optical zooming in the visible spectrum. After the function of wavelength-switched tomography was confirmed on cascaded samples, this aplanatic metalens is utilized to image microscopic frog egg cells and shows excellent tomographic images with distinct DOF features of the cell membrane and nucleus. Our approach makes good use of the large diffractive dispersion of the metalens and develops a new imaging technique that advances recent informative optical devices.
