Of those, membrane trafficking is key in establishing a rapid and precise response. Upon interaction with pathogenic microbes, surface-localized immune receptors undergo endocytosis for signal transduction and activity regulation while cell wall components, antimicrobial compounds, and defense proteins are delivered to pathogen invasion sites through polarized secretion. To sustain mutualistic associations, host cells also reprogram the membrane trafficking system to accommodate invasive structures of symbi- otic microbes. Here, we provide an analysis of recent advances in understanding the roles of secretory and endocytic membrane trafficking pathways in plant immune activation. We also discuss strategies deployed by adapted microbes to manipulate these pathways to subvert or inhibit plant defense.展开更多

The results show that international oil prices play an important role in precious metal price variation both in long-term and short-term, and exchange rate only has an effect in short-term, while interest rate is ineffective in predicting precious metal prices. In addition, precious metal prices have some feedback effects on international oil prices and interest rate in short-term.展开更多

Although the main role of this hormone is the promotion of the secretion of gastric acid from the stomach parietal cells, gastrin can also behave as a growth factor and stimulate gastric cell proliferation. It is also reported that gastrin promotes β cell neogenesis in the pancreatic ductal complex, modest pancreatic β cell replication, and improvement of glucose tolerance in animal models, in which the remodeling of pancreatic tissues is promoted. These findings suggest the possibility that gastrin has the potential to promote an increase of β cell mass in pancreas, and therefore that gastrin may improve glucose tolerance. Proton pump inhibitors(PPIs) are wildly used clinically for the therapy of gastro-esophageal reflex disease, gastritis due to excess stomach acid, and gastric ulcers. PPIs indirectly elevate serum gastrin levels via a negative feedback effect. Recent evidence has revealed the beneficial effect of PPIs on glycemic control especially in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM), probably via the elevation of the levels of serum gastrin, although the detailed mechanism remains unclear. In addition, the beneficial effects of a combination therapy of gastrin or a PPI with a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist on glycemic control in animal models have been demonstrated. Although PPIs may be possible candidates for a new approach in the therapy of diabetes, a prospective, longterm, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study is needed to establish the effect of PPIs on glycemic control in a large number of patients with T2 DM.展开更多

A total 50 (20 m ×20 m) quadrats were sampled to identify and describe plant community types, species diversity, richness and evenness and to relate the identified plant community types with some environ- mental factors and describe the population structure of woody plant species. In each quadrrat, data on species identity, abundance, height and Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) of woody plant species, altitude and slope were recorded. Vegetation classification was performed using PC - ORD software package. Sorensen's similarity coefficient was used to detect dissimilarities among communities. Shannon - Wiener diversity index, species richness and Shannon's evenness were computed to de- scribe species diversity of the plant community types. Results show that a total of 171 vascular plant species representing 53 families were re- corded. Fabaceae is the dominant family represented by 13 genera and 26 species (15%) followed by Asteraceae, Lamiaceae and Anacardiaceae with eight species each (4.6%). Based on the results of vegetation classi- fication, three plant communities (Dalbergia microphylla community, Grewia bicolar- Acacia brevispica community, and Combretum molle- Combretum collinum community) are recognized and described. Species richness, diversity and evenness varied among the plant communities.Species richness and diversity exhibit a bell - shaped pattern along alti- tude. Species turn over among communities more or less follow altitud- inal gradients. Tukey's pairwise comparison of means among the plant community types shows significant variations in altitude, implying that altitude is one of the most important factors determining the distribution of plant communities. However, it ignored the influences of relations between ea ch links of whole system. It is assumed that the consumption and market demand a re continuous process whereas the factual demands are batched when economic batc h is determined. So there exist some deviations between the economic batch deter mined by traditional way and that by integral optimization. Through the integral analysis of Logistics in the production system, we know that from materials are purchased, then manufactured, finally sold, the material changed in appearance and value, it still exist in different links of production system. The amount of materials occupied varies just in different status, from stock status to produc tion status, then to waiting-be-sold status, there is not any substantial chan ge in quantity until they are sold. In this paper, the production system is taken as a global entity, and in which m aterials variation law and their relations of each link are analyzed; To optimiz e the whole materials flow, a new model of multi-product systems’ economic orde r batch, economic production batch and optimal sale lot multi-product syste ms’ is developed which based on the limit of capitals and stoc展开更多

The surface-pressure isotherms showed that short chain fl- sitosteryl fatty acid esters gave smaller mean molecular areas and had decreased monolayer stability and the long chain steryl esters did not produce collapsed plateaus. All the steryl esters displayed strong condensing effects, but there was a pronounced structural dependency: medium chain esters (C8 and C 10) were less efficient than short and long chain esters. Atomic force microscopy imaging demonstrated that monolayers mixed with dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) displayed both DPPC-rich and steryl lipid-rich domains. However, the height and area differences between the two phases and the roughness and morphologic patterns were very dependent on the steryl lipid concentrations as well as the length, the degree of unsaturation and the molecular conformations of the acyl segments. These findings not only provide a better understanding of the interactions between phytosteryl hydrophobic derivatives and biomembranes, but also may be of general use for the design and engineering of phytosterol structural derivations for specific food and pharmaceutical applications.展开更多

Some portions of the variability are due to variable forcing by tides, winds, heating/cooling, and throughflow; other portions are due to intrinsic instabilities of the FC. To predict, as well as to better understand this complex regime, a nowcast/forecast system (East Florida Shelf Information System (EFSIS)) has been implemented and assessed (http://efsis. rsmas. miami. edu). EFSIS is based on an implementation of the Princeton Ocean Model (POM) with mesoscale-admitting resolution on a curvilinear grid. It is forced by a mesoscale numerical weather prediction system (called Eta) run operationally by the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), eight tidal constituents from a global tidal model, and lateral boundary conditions from an operational global ocean prediction model, i.e., the Navy Coastal Ocean Model (NCOM). Real-time observations of coastal sea level, coastal sea surface temperature, coastal HF radar-derived surface current maps, and FC volume transport are used to verify and validate EFSIS. EFSIS is part of an evolving strategy for real-time predictive coastal ocean modeling methodology, and for fostering the understanding of the variability of the regime on several time and space scales. Here, some of the verification and validation results are provided, as well as diagnostic analyses of dynamical processes. The central point is that an example is provided of a 'scientific revolution' in progress that combines real-time observations and numerical circulation models to yield a credible sequence of synoptic views of coastal ocean circulation for the first time.展开更多

A theoretical SAW propagation model is set up to characterize the periodic porous dielectrics by transversely isotropic symmetry. The theoretical deductions of SAW propagating in the low-k film/Si substrate layered structure are given in detail. The dispersive characteristics of SAW in differ- ent propagation directions and the effects of the Young's moduli E, E′ and shear modulus G′ of the films on these dispersive curves are found. Computational results show that E′ and G′ cannot be measured along the propagation direction that is perpendicular to the nano-pores' direction.展开更多
