As the elevator and rudder can be used actively for control,in addition to the rotors,Coaxial High-speed Helicopters(CHHs)have the problems of control redundancy and changing control authority in the transition mode.T...As the elevator and rudder can be used actively for control,in addition to the rotors,Coaxial High-speed Helicopters(CHHs)have the problems of control redundancy and changing control authority in the transition mode.This paper presents a robust-augmentation transitioning flight control design for a CHH under the adverse conditions of parametric uncertainties and external disturbances.First,based on control characteristic analysis,an Adaptive Filtered Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion(AFNDI)controller is proposed for the angular rate to handle the effect of unknown unstructured uncertainties and external turbulence.Theoretical analysis proves that the presented angular rate controller can guarantee steady-state and transient performance.Furthermore,the attitude angle and velocity controllers are also added.Then,an Incremental-based Nonlinear Prioritizing Control Allocation(INPCA)method is designed to take into account control surface transition and changing control authority,which efficiently distributes the required moments between coaxial rotors and aero-surfaces,and avoids the control reversal problem of the yaw channel.In the proposed control architecture,the low-pass filter is introduced to alleviate the adverse influence of time delay and measurement noise.Finally,the effectiveness of the proposed controller is demonstrated through nonlinear numerical simulations,and is compared with existing methods.Simulation results show that the proposed control law can improve both capabilities of disturbance rejection and fast response,and works satisfactorily for the CHH transitioning control characteristic.展开更多

A tiltrotor has characteristics of highly nonlinear, time-varying flight dynamics and inertial/-control couplings in its transition mode. It can transit from the helicopter mode to the airplane mode by tilting its nacelles, and an effective controller is crucial to accomplish tilting transition missions. Longitudinal dynamic characteristics of the tiltrotor are described by a nonlinear Lagrangeform model, which takes into account inertial/control couplings and aerodynamic interferences.Reference commands for airspeed velocity and attitude in the transition mode are calculated dynamically by visiting a command library which is founded in advance by analyzing the flight envelope of the tiltrotor. A Time-Varying Linear(TVL) model is obtained using a Taylorexpansion based online linearization technique from the nonlinear model. Subsequently, based on an optimal control concept, an online optimization based control method with input constraints considered is proposed. To validate the proposed control method, three typical tilting transition missions are simulated using the nonlinear model of XV-15 tiltrotor aircraft. Simulation results show that the controller can be used to control the tiltrotor throughout its operating envelop which includes a transition flight, and can also deal with vertical gust disturbances.展开更多
As an attractive transition approach,the altitude-hold transition is a special type of super-maneuvering and the vertical/horizontal flight mode transition that an agile aircraft conducts at fixed altitude.However,it ...As an attractive transition approach,the altitude-hold transition is a special type of super-maneuvering and the vertical/horizontal flight mode transition that an agile aircraft conducts at fixed altitude.However,it is still challenging to implement an autonomous control of the altitude-hold transition while the existing optimal transition planning methods cannot avoid an evident altitude change during the transition process.This paper proposes a corridor-based flight mode transition strategy and presents a successful flight demonstration of the altitude-hold transition on a small ducted-fan tail-sitter unmanned aerial vehicle.In the proposed corridor-based methodology,we model and analyze the transition corridor,concentrate on the dynamic characteristics of the altitude-hold transition,and emphasize that a valid transition trajectory should be governed by its transition corridor.The identified transition corridor reveals that for a given velocity trajectory,the solution for the corresponding trajectories of pitch angle and thrust is unique.Based on this,the transition trajectory generation problem is addressed simply on the velocity-acceleration plane.Furthermore,a proper flight control scheme is devised to track the generated transition trajectories.Finally,the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through practical flight tests,in which the altitude change is less than 1.1 m during the entire transition course.展开更多
