Because truly independent beams are difficult to create, we...By means of numerical simulations, we analyze the scintillation characterization for multiple incoherent uplink Gaussian beams under weak fluctuations cases. Because truly independent beams are difficult to create, we present a more general but approximate model for the multiple of beams traveling through partially correlated paths. This model compares with wave-optics simulations and highlights the reduced correlation coefficient as the beam separation is increased. The scintillation index of three and six incoherent uplink Gaussian beams is also induced. The result shows that the scintillation index decreases with the increase of beams amount and beam separation. When the beams amount and strength of atmospheric turbulence are fixed, the reduction of scintillation index is affected by the ratio of beams separation and the Fried length. The corresponding ohvsical mechanisms for the results are discussed.展开更多

The boundary conditions are satisfied rigorously and the solutions are expressed by means of eigen function expansions. The diagram of shearing force is formulated by trigonometric series and used to determine the coefficients in above expansions. The computational resuits give the chord and span wise distributions of nomal and shear stress in the cover plate and the honeycomb core. In the present state of the art,ion beam sputtering is used to produce low-loss dielectric optics.During the manufacturing of a dielectric layer stack,the deposition material must be changed,which requires rapid mecha...In the present state of the art,ion beam sputtering is used to produce low-loss dielectric optics.During the manufacturing of a dielectric layer stack,the deposition material must be changed,which requires rapid mechanical movement of vacuum components.These mechanical components can be regarded as a risk factor for contamination during the coating process,which limits the quality of high-end laser components.To minimize the particle contamination,we present a novel deposition concept that does not require movable components to change the coating material during the coating process.A magnetic field guiding technique has been developed,which enables the tuning of the refractive index in the layer structure by sputtering mixtures with varying compositions of two materials using a single-ion source.The versatility of this new concept is demonstrated for a highreflection mirror.展开更多

The absorption of the 248 nm radiation by the GaN at the interface results in rapid thermal decomposition of interfacial layer, yielding metallic Ga and N2 gas. The substrate can be easily removed by heating above the Ga melting point (29°C). X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy and photoluminescence of GaN before and after lift-off process have been performed, which demonstrated that the separation and transfer process do not alter the structural quality of the GaN films. And further discussions on the threshold energy and crack-free strategies of laser lift-off process have also been presented.展开更多
