As a result,traditionally evaluating ...In practice, the failure rate of most equipment exhibits different tendencies at different stages and even its failure rate curve behaves a multimodal trace during its life cycle. As a result,traditionally evaluating the reliability of equipment with a single model may lead to severer errors.However, if lifetime is divided into several different intervals according to the characteristics of its failure rate, piecewise fitting can more accurately approximate the failure rate of equipment. Therefore, in this paper, failure rate is regarded as a piecewise function, and two kinds of segmented distribution are put forward to evaluate reliability. In order to estimate parameters in the segmented reliability function, Bayesian estimation and maximum likelihood estimation(MLE) of the segmented distribution are discussed in this paper. Since traditional information criterion is not suitable for the segmented distribution, an improved information criterion is proposed to test and evaluate the segmented reliability model in this paper. After a great deal of testing and verification,the segmented reliability model and its estimation methods presented in this paper are proven more efficient and accurate than the traditional non-segmented single model, especially when the change of the failure rate is time-phased or multimodal. The significant performance of the segmented reliability model in evaluating reliability of proximity sensors of leading-edge flap in civil aircraft indicates that the segmented distribution and its estimation method in this paper could be useful and accurate.展开更多
When designing a cell stack and developing an operational strategy for proton exchange membrane fuel cell,it is critical to characterize the local current,water and heat.To measure distributions of current density,rel...When designing a cell stack and developing an operational strategy for proton exchange membrane fuel cell,it is critical to characterize the local current,water and heat.To measure distributions of current density,relative humidity and temperature for both anode and cathode simultaneously along the straight parallel flow channels,this paper uses a segmented tool based on the multilayered printed circuit board flow field plates with embedded sensors.In this study,two kinds of experimental operations of fuel cell reactants are carried out for comparison:the co-flow operation with identical gas flow direction of hydrogen and air and the counter-flow operation with opposite gas flow directions.The detected relative humidity(RH)distributions of both anode and cathode indicate that the asymmetry of RH distribution at two sides of the membrane in counter-flow operation is better at holding water inside the fuel cell compared with the co-flow operation.The in situ measured performance distributions show that segments around the middle of the fuel cell contribute the highest current in counter-flow operation,while for co-flow operation,the current peak locates near the outlet of reactants.展开更多

Unlike classical car lamp with refractive lig ht distribution, the method of reflecting light distribution gives car lamp desi gn more flexibility. In the case of guarantying the lightness of car lamp and sa tisfying the standard demand for the light distribution, the design of the exter ior of the car lamp has more freedom. The high gradient of car lamp is more suit able for the demand of streamline of the car exterior. The shape of segmented re flector obtained by theory calculating of car lamp reflecting light distribution is only an ideal shape, which usually has considerable differences with the fin al shape and will influences light distribution. There exist difference between the calculated reflector and manufactured reflector. Salt stress can be alleviated by straw layer burial in the soil, but little is known of the appropriate form of the straw layer for optimal regulation of soil water and salinity because of the uncontrollability of fie...Salt stress can be alleviated by straw layer burial in the soil, but little is known of the appropriate form of the straw layer for optimal regulation of soil water and salinity because of the uncontrollability of field tests. Here, the following four straw forms with compaction thickness of 5 cm buried 40–45 deep were studied: no straw layer(CK), segmented straw(SL, 5 cm in length), straw pellet(SK), and straw powder(SF). The three straw forms(SL, SK and SF) significantly delayed the infiltration of irrigation water down the column profile by 71.20–134.3 h relative to CK and the migration velocity of the wetting front under SF was the slowest. It took longer for the wetting front to transcend SK than SL but shorter for it to reach the bottom of soil column after water crossed the straw layer. Compared with CK, the average volumetric water content in the 0–40 cm soil layer increased by 6.45% under SL, 1.77% under SK and 5.39% under SF. The desalination rates at the 0–40 and 0–100 cm soil layers increased by 5.85 and 3.76% under SL, 6.64 and 1.47% under SK and 5.97 and 4.82% under SF. However, there was no significant difference among straw forms in the 0–40 cm soil layer. Furthermore, the salt leaching efficiency(SLE, g mm^–1 h^–1) above the 40 cm layer under SL was 0.0097, being significantly higher than that under SF(0.0071) by 37.23%. Salt storage under SL, SK and SF in the 40–45 cm layer accounted for 4.50, 16.92 and 7.43% of total storage in the 1-m column profile. Cumulative evaporation under SL and SF decreased significantly by 41.20 and 49.00%, with both treatments having the most significant inhibition of salt accumulation(resalinization rate being 36.06 and 47.15% lower than CK) in the 0–40 cm soil layer. In conclusion, the different forms of straw layers have desalting effects under high irrigation level(446 mm). In particular, SL and SF performed better than SK in promoting deep salt leaching and inhibiting salt accumulation on the soil surface. However, SL was simpler to implement展开更多

In many cases, the change point time and cause are documented and it is reasonably straightforward to statistically adjust (homogenize) the series for the effects of the changepoint. Sadly many changepoint times are undocumented and the changepoint times themselves are the main purpose of study. In this article, the changepoint analysis in two-phrase linear regression models is developed and discussed. Following Liu and Qian (2010)'s idea in the segmented linear regression models, the modified empirical likelihood ratio statistic is proposed to test if there exists a changepoint during the long-term experiment and observation. The modified empirical likelihood ratio statistic is computation-friendly and its ρ-value can be easily approximated based on the large sample properties. The procedure is applied to the Old Faithful geyser eruption data in October 1980.展开更多
