基于弱湍流的无线光通信系统信道模型,对开关键控(OOK)、脉冲位置调制(PPM)、差分脉冲位置调(DPPM)、数字脉冲间隔调制(DPIM)和双头脉冲间隔调制(DH-PIM)调制方式的符号结构、发射功率、传输带宽以及误包率进行了理论推导和对比分析。... 基于弱湍流的无线光通信系统信道模型,对开关键控(OOK)、脉冲位置调制(PPM)、差分脉冲位置调(DPPM)、数字脉冲间隔调制(DPIM)和双头脉冲间隔调制(DH-PIM)调制方式的符号结构、发射功率、传输带宽以及误包率进行了理论推导和对比分析。结果表明,PPM必须需要符号同步和时隙同步,而DPIM、DPPM、DH-PIM调制只要求时隙同步。OOK的平均发射功率最大,PPM的平均发射功率最小,DH-PIM比OOK小但是比DPIM和DPPM大,DPIM发射功率特性略优小于DPPM。当M=6时与OOK调制平均发射功率比较,PPM调制节约功率约15 dB,DPPM和DPIM调制节约功率约12 dB,当α=2时DH-DPIM调制节约功率约10 dB。OOK带宽需求最小,PPM带宽需求最大,DPIM的带宽特性略大于DPPM,DH-PIM带宽需求大于OOK但小于DPPM。当M=6时与OOK带宽比较,PPM带宽需求约为OOK的11倍,DPPM和DPIM的带宽需求约为OOK的6倍,当α=2时DH-DPIM带宽需求为OOK的3倍。在相同平均背景光子和相同平均光脉冲接收光子的条件下PPM、DPIM、DPPM、DH-PIM和OOK调制方式的误包率依次增大。 展开更多

在级联相位调制的100 Gbit/s光信号传输系统中,对差分相移键控非归零码(NRZ-DPSK)、差分相移键控归零码(RZ-DPSK)、差分四相相移键控非归零码(NRZ-DQPSK)和差分四相相移键控归零码(RZ-DQPSK)进行了比较研究。当四种信号通过90 km的标准... 在级联相位调制的100 Gbit/s光信号传输系统中,对差分相移键控非归零码(NRZ-DPSK)、差分相移键控归零码(RZ-DPSK)、差分四相相移键控非归零码(NRZ-DQPSK)和差分四相相移键控归零码(RZ-DQPSK)进行了比较研究。当四种信号通过90 km的标准单模光纤(SMF)和16 km的色散补偿光纤(DCF)传输后,在满足相同入纤功率的条件下,NRZ-DQPSK信号具有最高的色散容限;如果仅仅考虑一阶偏振模色散(PMD),RZ-DQPSK信号具有最优的抗偏振模色散特性;当入纤功率在0~10 dBm的范围内调节时,RZ-DPSK信号具有最好的非线性容忍度;最后比较了四种相位调制码型传输后通过不同带宽的三阶高斯滤波器后的接收性能,得出滤波器带宽值大于125 GHz后,NRZ-DPSK信号的接收性能最佳。 展开更多

Using a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and a Fabry-Perot cavity composed of two fiber Bragg gratings (FBGFP) as its frequency-selective components, a type of single frequency all-fiber ring laser permits oscillation only on one longitudinal mode of the main cavity without modehopping while the cavity length can be up to tens of meters. The salient feature is due to the single narrowband resonance of the FBGFP filter. A novel broadband directional coupler based on an asymmetric dual-core photonic crystal fibet(PCF)is proposed.The asymmetry in the fiher is introduced by the enlargement of one air-hole in dual-core PCF.Numerical investigation demonstrate that broadband directional coupling with spectral width as large as 370 nm and polarization-dependent loss and uniformity lower than 0.2 and 0.5 dB,respectively,can be achieved.In addition,the proposed fiber shows large tolerance to the variation of the fiber parameters.In particular,the fiber length allows at least 10%derivation from the proposed fiber length of 7.7 mm. 展开更多

Phase pre-emphasis for PAPR reduction in optical OFDM systems based on OIDFT or time lens 被引量:3

Phase pre-emphasis is theoretically studied and introduced to reduce peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) in optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. In intensity modulated (IM) systems, simulations show noticeable PAPR reductions: 4.14 dB (N = 16) and 15.48 dB (N = 512) in time lens-based OFDM, N is the number of subcarriers. An equation is developed to calculate phase values and is proved to be effective. Optical implementing methods are proposed and analyzed. In a time lens-based OFDM system, phase pre-emphasis reduces fiber nonlinearity and results in a 5.2-dB increase of launch power at the bit error rate (BER) of 10 ?6 . Simulations also show similar PAPR reduction and fiber nonlinearity mitigation in optical inverse discrete Fourier transformer (OIDFT) based OFDM systems. 展开更多

We describe the structure and testing of one-dimensional array parallel-optics photo-detectors with 16 photodiodes of which each diode operates up to 8 Gb/s. The single element is vertical and top illuminated 30μm-diameter silicon on insulator (Ge-on-SOI) PIN photodetector. High-quality Ge absorption layer is epitaxially grown on SO1 substrate by the ultra-high vacuum chemical vapor deposition (UHV-CVD). The photodiode exhibits a good responsivity of 0.20 A/W at a wavelength of 1550 nm. The dark current is as low as 0.36/aA at a reverse bias of 1 V, and the corresponding current density is about 51 mA/cm2. The detector with a diameter of 30 t.trn is measured at an incident light of 1.55 μm and 0.5 mW, and the 3-dB bandwidth is 7.39 GHz without bias and 13.9 GHz at a reverse bias of 3 V. A flattop optical frequency comb is shaped into multiple narrowband Gaussian spectra by using an AWG which contains a number of Gaussian channels, and then multi-wavelength optical pulses are achieved. In the experiment, six wavelength pulses with full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 14.6 ps at I0 GHz are obtained, and two wavelength-interleaved pulse trains at 20 GHz and four wavelength-interleaved multi-wavelength optical pulses. With the rapid development of optical elements with large capacity and high speed, the network architecture is of great importance in determing the performance of wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network (WDM-PON). This paper proposes a switching struc^re based on the tunable wavelength converter (TWC) and the ar- rayed-waveguide grating (AWG) for WDM-PON, in order to provide the function of opitcal virtual private network (OVPN). Using the tunable wavelength converter technology, this switch structure is designed and works between the optical line terminal (OLT) and optical network units (ONUs) in the WDM-PON system. Moreover, the wavelength assignment of upstream/downstream can be realized and direct communication between ONUs is also allowed by privite wavelength channel. Simulation results show that the proposed TWC and AWG based switching structure is able to achieve OVPN function and to gain better performances in terms of bite error rate (BER) and time delay. 展开更多

We present a general method to construct a universal set of quantum gates using probabilistic teleportation as a basic primitive. The technique generalizes the teleportation method of gate construction to partially entangled quantum channels. Without recourse to local filtering or entanglement concentration, using local rotation and CNOT operations followed by measurements in the computational basis, one can construct many encoded quantum operations with unit fidelity but less than unit probability. The technique can also be applied to the construction of remote quantum gates that cannot be directly performed. 展开更多

It is aimed at improving the nonlinearity tolerance of a polarization division multiplexing (PDM) coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) system. The application of this channel estimation algorithm simulates system performance under different dispersion compensation (DC) maps. Simulation results show that, compared with intra-symbol frequency-domain averaging (ISFA) algorithm, at least 5-dB Q-factor improvement is achieved for the PDM CO-OFDM system at 112-Gb/s data rate over an 800-km standard single-mode fiber (SSMF) without DC. 展开更多

High-performance Ge-on-SOI p–i–n waveguide photodetectors with different sizes were fabricated. The performances, in terms of dark-current, photo current responsivity and 3-d B bandwidth, were well studied. A responsivity of 0.842 A/W at 1550 nm and dark current of 70 n A was measured from this detector at-1 V. The detector with a size of4 μm×10 μm demonstrated an optical band width of 19 GHz at-5 V for 1550 nm. Both the experimental results and the finite-difference time domain simulation show that, when the device size is above a certain threshold, the absorption is not sensitively dependent on such designing parameters as the width and length of the photodetector. 展开更多
