For the last two decades,low-cost Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)receivers have been used in various applications.These receivers are mini-size,less expensive than geodetic-grade receivers,and in high demand....For the last two decades,low-cost Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)receivers have been used in various applications.These receivers are mini-size,less expensive than geodetic-grade receivers,and in high demand.Irrespective of these outstanding features,low-cost GNSS receivers are potentially poorer hardwares with internal signal processing,resulting in lower quality.They typically come with low-cost GNSS antenna that has lower performance than their counterparts,particularly for multipath mitigation.Therefore,this research evaluated the low-cost GNSS device performance using a high-rate kinematic survey.For this purpose,these receivers were assembled with an Inertial Measurement Unit(IMU)sensor,which actively transmited data on acceleration and orientation rate during the observation.The position and navigation parameter data were obtained from the IMU readings,even without GNSS signals via the U-blox F9R GNSS/IMU device mounted on a vehicle.This research was conducted in an area with demanding conditions,such as an open sky area,an urban environment,and a shopping mall basement,to examine the device’s performance.The data were processed by two approaches:the Single Point Positioning-IMU(SPP/IMU)and the Differential GNSS-IMU(DGNSS/IMU).The Unscented Kalman Filter(UKF)was selected as a filtering algorithm due to its excellent performance in handling nonlinear system models.The result showed that integrating GNSS/IMU in SPP processing mode could increase the accuracy in eastward and northward components up to 68.28%and 66.64%.Integration of DGNSS/IMU increased the accuracy in eastward and northward components to 93.02%and 93.03%compared to the positioning of standalone GNSS.In addition,the positioning accuracy can be improved by reducing the IMU noise using low-pass and high-pass filters.This application could still not gain the expected position accuracy under signal outage conditions.展开更多
Low-cost Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)devices offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional GNSS systems,making GNSS technology accessible to a wider range of applications.Nevertheless,low-cost GNSS dev...Low-cost Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)devices offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional GNSS systems,making GNSS technology accessible to a wider range of applications.Nevertheless,low-cost GNSS devices often face the challenges in effectively capturing and tracking satellite signals,which leads to losing the observations at certain frequencies.Moreover,the observation peculiarities of low-cost devices are in contradistinction to those of traditional geodetic GNSS receivers.In this contribution,a low-cost PPP-RTK model that considers the unique characteristics of different types of measurements is developed and its performance is fully evaluated with u-blox F9P receivers equipped with three distinctive antenna configurations:vertical dipole,microstrip patch,and helix antennas.Several static and kinematic experiments in different scenarios are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.The results indicate that the mixed-frequency PPP-RTK model outperforms the traditional dual-frequency one with higher positioning accuracy and fixing percentage.Among the three low-cost antennas tested,the vertical dipole antenna demonstrates the best performance under static conditions and shows a comparable performance as geodetic antennas with a positioning accuracy of 0.02 m,0.01 m and 0.07 m in the east,north,and up components,respectively.Under low-speed kinematic scenarios,the helix antenna outperforms the other two with a positioning accuracy of(0.07 m,0.07 m,0.34 m).Furthermore,the helix antenna is also proved to be the best choice for vehicle navigation with an ambiguity fixing rate of over 95%and a positioning accuracy of(0.13 m,0.14 m,0.36 m).展开更多
Traditional agriculture is facing several challenges worldwide such as increased population growth,rapid forestry and urbanization,resource scarcity,climate change,environmental pollution,competition among different m...Traditional agriculture is facing several challenges worldwide such as increased population growth,rapid forestry and urbanization,resource scarcity,climate change,environmental pollution,competition among different markets.Hence,farmers need to improve productivity in order to maintain the output level.This study attempted to evaluate the benefits of using Real-Time Kinematic(RTK)positioning in precision agriculture through a series of real measurements carried out when farming cereals.All farming management actions involved in the cereal crop process(raise fallow,plow,sow,fertilize,mow,and harvest)have been done using an automatic guidance system that has reduced costs.A reduction of 20%has been quantified in the fuel,the amount of fertilizer,the labor costs and the hours of work.Consequently,the environmental impact has been also reduced.An inexpensive system consisting of a reference base station near the field and a mobile unit mounted on the test vehicle has been installed in order to increase the benefits in cereal crops.Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)systems including Global Positioning System(GPS),GLONASS,Galileo and Beidou have been used in the analysis.This research serves as a practical guide to implementing a low-cost guidance system to achieve best management practice.展开更多
