The chemical abundances of the sample stars were obtained from an LTE, plane-parallel and line-blanketed atmospheric model by inputting the atmospheric parameters(effective temperatures Teff, surface gravities log g, metallicity [Fe/H] and microturbulence velocity ξt) and equivalent widths of stellar absorption lines. These samples of Ba stars are giants as indicated by atmospheric parameters, metallicities and kinematic analysis about UVW velocity. Chemical abundances of 17 elements were obtained for these Ba stars. Their Na, Al, α- and iron-peak elements(O, Na, Mg, Al, Si, Ca,Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Ni) are similar to the solar abundances. Our samples of Ba stars show obvious overabundances of neutron-capture(n-capture) process elements relative to the Sun. Their median abundances of[Ba/Fe], [La/Fe] and [Eu/Fe] are 0.54, 0.65 and 0.40, respectively. The Y I and Zr I abundances are lower than Ba, La and Eu, but higher than the α- and iron-peak elements for the strong Ba stars and similar to the iron-peak elements for the mild stars. There exists a positive correlation between Ba intensity and [Ba/Fe].For the n-capture elements(Y, Zr, Ba, La), there is an anti-correlation between their [X/Fe] and [Fe/H]. We identify nine of our sample stars as strong Ba stars with [Ba/Fe]〉0.6 where seven of them have Ba intensity Ba=2-5, one has Ba=1.5 and another one has Ba=1.0. The remaining ten stars are classified as mild Ba stars with 0.17〈[Ba/Fe]〈0.54.展开更多

The ROSAT selected X-ray sources are found to be a mixed population. A few of them are associated with the Tau-Aur or Orion Star Forming Regions (SFR). Some, with distances similar to that of Tau-Aur but with discrepant proper motions, are probable or sure Pleiades super-cluster members or other late type young active stars with unresolved nature, more likely to originate in rapidly moving cloudlets, or else having originated from different sites other than Tau-Aur and moved to the present locations. A good many of the non-TTS X-ray sources are considered as Hyades cluster members. Some TTS candidates could be foreground pre-main sequence stars or actually young dwarfs not yet depleted of their Lithium. Under the hypothesis that the sources we studied are representative of the ROSAT selected TTS candidates discovered in the outskirts of the Tau-Aur region, we conclude that only up to one third of the weak-line TTS candidates could be expected to be physically associated with the Tau-Aur association. Along with the parallax and proper motion analysis of the non-TTS X-ray sources around the Tau-Aur SFR, our result suggests that the vast majority of the young active X-ray sources within an angular diameter of about 30° of the Tau-Aur SFR, belong to four main subgroups that are spatially separate.展开更多

In this paper, we identify a magnetic CV (CXOGSG J215544.4+380116) from the Chandra archive data. The X-ray light curves show a significant period of 14.1 ks, and the X-ray spectra can be described by a multi-temperature hot thermal plasma, suggesting the source is a magnetic CV. The broad dip in the X-ray light curve is due to the eclipse of the primary magnetic pole, and the additional dip in the bright phase of the soft and medium bands may be caused by the accretion stream crossing our line of sight to the primary pole. Follow-up optical spectra show features of an M2-M4 dwarf dominating the red band and a WD which is responsible for the weak upturn in the blue band. The mass (~ 0.4 34⊙) and radius (~0.4 R⊙) for the M dwarf are obtained using CV evolution models and empirical relations between the orbital period and the mass/radius. The estimated low X-ray luminosity and accretion rate may suggest the source is a low-accretion-rate polar. In addition, Very Large Array observations reveal a possible radio counterpart to the X-ray source, but with a low significance. Further radio observations with high quality are needed to confirm the radio counterpart and explore the properties of this binary system.展开更多

This sample, among which 58 members are identified for the first time, includes 33 extreme subdwarfs(esd Ms) and 11 ultra subdwarfs(usd Ms).The selection is based on the usual ratio of absorption depth of Ca H2, Ca H3 and TiO 5 band systems. We also emphasize the use of the Ca H1 band. We provide estimates of spectral subtype(SPT), L′epine metallicity index ζ, effective temperature and [Fe/H]. Both ζ–[Fe/H] and SPT–Teff figures show reasonable consistency; compared to PHOENIX model spectra, average rounded values of [Fe/H] for sd Ms, esd Ms and usd Ms are respectively –0.5, –1 and –1.5. The photometric distances are estimated, indicating that most sources are located within 500 pc of the Sun and 350 pc of the Galactic disk. Velocities and 3D Galactic motions are also briefly discussed. Among the 108 subdwarfs, seven stars appear to be active with a significant Hα emission line. The source LAMOST J104521.52+482823.3 is a white dwarf- M subdwarf binary, while LAMOST J123045.52+410943.8, also active, exhibits carbon features in red.展开更多

For 12 of the 22 WTTSs photometric periodic variability is confirmed and their rational periods are determined using Phase Dispersion Minimization (PDM) and Fourier analysis. Most of them are found to have periods shorter than one day. We look for the exciting sources of these masers and their infrared properties from IRAS and MSX data, and make a sta- tistical study. MSX sources associated with stellar 1612 MHz OH masers are located mainly above the blackbody line; this is caused by the dust absorption of stellar en- velopes, especially in the MSX_A band. The mid-IR sources associated with stellar OH masers are concentrated in a small region in an [A]-[D] vs.[A]-[E] diagram with a small fraction of contamination; this gives us a new criterion to search for new stellar OH masers and distinguish stellar masers from unknown types of OH masers. IR sources associated with 1612 MHz stellar OH masers show an expected result: the average flux of sources with F60 〉 F25 increases with increasing wavelength, while those with F60 〈 F25 vary little with wavelength, because the sources with F60 〈 F25 are much hotter than those with F60 〉 F25.展开更多

They show an asymmetric outside eclipse, and we try to use a spot model to explain the phenomenon. Using the Wilson-Devinney program with a one-spot or two-spot model, photometric solutions of the system and starspot parameters were derived. Comparing the two results shows that the case of two spots is more successful in reproducing light-curve distortions. Looking at all the spot longitudes, the trend is towards active longitude belts and each active longitude belt may switch. Comparing the light curves from 2009 and 2010, we can see that the light curve changes over the long time scale of a year, especially in phase 0.25. In addition, we also collected the values of the maximum amplitudes of photometric distortion of the short-period RS CVn binary. We found for the first time that there is a trend of increasing activity with decreasing orbital period. Finally, fitting all available light minimum times including our newly obtained ones with a polynomial function confirmed that the orbital period of V1034 Her increased.展开更多

We reconstruct the observed light curves with a two-starspot model by means of a light curve modeling technique, and find that the active regions shift oppositely along longitude on a time scale of one day. Combining with the observational data obtained by other groups, we discuss the evolution of spotted regions in the photosphere, and find that its starspots evolve not only on a short time scale but also on a long time scale. The pure chromospheric emissions for Ca IIHK and Hβ lines are derived by using the spectral subtraction technique. The variation of Ca IIHK lines' excess emission is spatially correlated to the starspot regions. There is no clear rotational modulation for the Hβ line's excess emission, probably due to the contamination of prominence emission.展开更多

It is found that neither SiO maser stars nor OH maser stars show any concentration to the spiral arms, which imply that they do not belong to the arm population and quite possibly they are low-mass stars in late stage of evolution. A rotational curve is also derived for these objects and a few features which may be real are discussed and compared with those derived from planetary nebulae and AGB stars.展开更多

The discovery of these young stars at such a close distance to the Sun is really a surprising phenomenon. It will help us to have a better understanding of the structure and evolutionary history of the Milky Way. The radial velocities (RV) of HIP 544 and HIP 46843 are measured to be -6.88±0.13km s^-1 and 8.30±0.16km s^-1, respectively, which are more accurate than before. The equivalent widths (EW) of the Li I 6707.8A absorption line of HIP 544 and HIP 46843 are measured to be 110±5 mA and 195±5 mA respectively. Based on these properties, HIP 544 is estimated to be 100-800Myr old and HIP 46843 30-100Myr old using three relatively creditable methods.展开更多

The results show that iow luminosity cool stars tend to be solar-like oscillators, whose low-order modes are stable, but intermediate and high order p-modes are pulsationally unstable; their unstable modes have a wide range in frequency and small values for amplitude growth rates. For stars with increasing luminosity and therefore lower tem- perature, the unstable modes shift towards lower orders, the corresponding range of frequency decreases, and the amplitude growth rate increases. High luminosity red gi- ant stars behave like typical Mira-like oscillators. The effects of the coupling between convection and oscillations on pulsational instability have been carefully analyzed in this work. Our research shows that convection does not simply act as a damping mechanism for oscillations, and the complex nature of the coupling between convec- tion and oscillations makes turbulent convection sometimes behave as damping, and sometimes as excitation. Such a picture can not only naturally account for the red edge of the instability strip, but also the solar-like oscillations in low luminosity red stars and Mira-like ones in high luminosity red giants.展开更多

[Fe/H] (?) +0.4), using our own data as well as data collected from the literature. For comparatively metal-rich disk stars (-1(?) [Fe/H] (?) +0.4) where the weaker 6154/6161 lines are the best abundance indicators, we confirmed [Na/Fe]- 0 with an 'upturn' (i.e., a shallow/broad dip around -0.5 (?) [Fe/H](?) 0) as already reported in previous studies. For the metal-deficient halo stars, where the much stronger 5890/5896 or 8183/8195 lines subject to considerable (negative) non-LTE corrections amounting to 0.5 dex have to be used, our analysis suggests mildly 'subsolar' [Na/Fe] values down to--0.4 (with a somewhat large scatter of-±0.2 dex) on the average at the typical halo metallicity of [Fe/H] --2, followed by a rise again to a near-solar ratio of [Na/Fe] - 0 at the very metal-poor regime [Fe/H]--3 to -4. These results are discussed in comparison with the previous observational studies along with the theoretical predictions from the available chemical evolution models.展开更多

We foundthat there are abundance gradients in the thin disk in both radial and verticaldirections (-0.116 dex kpc-1 and -0.309 dex kpc-1 respectively). The gradients appear to be flatter as the Galaxy evolves. No gradient is found in the thick disk based on 18 thick disk stars. These results indicate that the ELS model is mainly suitable for the evolution of the thin disk, while the SZ model is more suitable for the evolution of the thick disk. Additionally, these results indicate that in-fall and out-flow processes play important roles in the chemical evolution of the Galaxy.展开更多

Using the method of Phase Dispersion Minimization (PDM) and Fourier analysis (software PERIOD04), the rotation periods of these stars were determined from the photometric data. The rotation periods of all nine stars are shorter than about 3 days. It is suggested that, as with the Pleiades cluster, small amplitude light variations are quite common among young solar-type stars with rotation periods around 3 days or less. This gives further evidence for the spin up of solar-type stars predicted by models of angular momentum evolution of pre-main sequence stars.展开更多

In addition, Very Large Array observations reveal a possible radio counterpart to the X-ray source, but with a low significance. Further radio observations with high quality are needed to confirm the radio counterpart and explore the properties of this binary system.

文摘Photometric observations in Sloan g′and i′ bands of W UMa binaries NSVS 4340949,T-Dra0–00959,GSC 03950–00707,NSVS 4665041,NSVS 4803568,MM Peg,MM Com and NSVS4751449 are presented. The light curve solutions revealed that the components of each target are of G and K spectral types. The binaries of the sample have middle-contact configurations whose fillout factors are within the range 0.2–0.4.The only exception is NSVS 4751449 which is in deeper contact(fillout factor of 0.55).It precisely obeys the relation between mass ratio and fillout factor for deep, low mass ratio overcontact binaries. One of the eclipses of almost all targets(except MM Peg)is an occultation and their photometric mass ratios and solutions could be accepted with confidence. We found that the target components have almost equal temperatures but differ considerably in size and mass. The components of the partially-eclipsed MM Peg have close parameters. Our solutions reveal that NSVS 4340949,T-Dra0–00959,NSVS 4803568 and MM Com are of W subtype while GSC 03950–00707,NSVS 4665041,MM Peg and NSVS 4751449 are of A subtype. This subclassification is well-determined for all totallyeclipsed binaries. The targets confirm the trends in which W-subtype systems have smaller periods and lower temperatures than A subtype binaries.

文摘We identify 108 M subdwarfs(sd Ms) out of more than two hundred thousand M type spectra from the second data release(DR2) of the LAMOST regular survey. The source LAMOST J104521.52+482823.3 is a white dwarf- M subdwarf binary, while LAMOST J123045.52+410943.8, also active, exhibits carbon features in red.

文摘We monitored the light curves of 22 weak-line T Tauri stars (WTTSs) discovered among the X-ray sources in the field of the Taurus-Auriga cloud. For 12 of the 22 WTTSs photometric periodic variability is confirmed and their rational periods are determined using Phase Dispersion Minimization (PDM) and Fourier analysis. Most of them are found to have periods shorter than one day. This gives further evidence for the spin up of solar-type stars predicted by the models of angular momentum evolution of pre-main sequence stars.

文摘We collect 3249 OH maser sources from the literature published up to April 2007, and compile a new catalog of OH masers. IR sources associated with 1612 MHz stellar OH masers show an expected result: the average flux of sources with F60 〉 F25 increases with increasing wavelength, while those with F60 〈 F25 vary little with wavelength, because the sources with F60 〈 F25 are much hotter than those with F60 〉 F25.

文摘This paper presents new CCD BV RI light curves of the newly discovered RS CVn eclipsing binary V1034 Her in 2009 and 2010, the shapes of which are different from previously published results. Finally, fitting all available light minimum times including our newly obtained ones with a polynomial function confirmed that the orbital period of V1034 Her increased.

文摘The simultaneous photometric and spectroscopic observations of the spotted G dwarf AP149 in the young open cluster α Persei are analyzed here. There is no clear rotational modulation for the Hβ line's excess emission, probably due to the contamination of prominence emission.
文摘The observational results of the Nobeyama 45-m SiO maser survey and the Arecibo 305-m OH maser survey are assembled for an analysis of the distribution and kinematics of late-type stars in the Galactic plane. It is found that neither SiO maser stars nor OH maser stars show any concentration to the spiral arms, which imply that they do not belong to the arm population and quite possibly they are low-mass stars in late stage of evolution. A rotational curve is also derived for these objects and a few features which may be real are discussed and compared with those derived from planetary nebulae and AGB stars.
文摘We present the equivalent widths of 15 extrasolar-planet host stars. These data were based on the high-resolution, high signal-to-noise ratio spectra obtained with the 2.16m telescope at Xinglong station. The error in the Xinglong equivalent width is estimated by a comparison of these data with those given in previous studies of common stars.

文摘X-ray emission is an important indicator of stellar activity. In this paper,we study stellar Xray activity using the XMM-Newton and LAMOST data for different types of stars. We provide a sample including 1259 X-ray-emitting stars,of which 1090 have accurate stellar parameter estimations. Our sample size is much larger than those used in previous works. We find a bimodal distribution of the X-ray to optical flux ratio(log(fX/fV)) for G and K stars. We interpret that this bimodality is due to two subpopulations with different coronal heating rates.Furthermore, using the full widths at half maxima calculated from Hα and Hβ lines,we show that these stars in the inactive peaks have smaller rotational velocities. This is consistent with the magnetic dynamo theory that presumes stars with low rotational velocities have low levels of stellar activity. We also examine the correlation between log(fX/fV) and luminosity of the excess emission in the Hα line, and find a tight relation between the coronal and chromospheric activity indicators.

文摘We present high-resolution optical echell spectroscopy of HIP 544 and HIP 46843, two nearby solar like stars. Based on these properties, HIP 544 is estimated to be 100-800Myr old and HIP 46843 30-100Myr old using three relatively creditable methods.

文摘Using a non-local and time-dependent theory of convection, we have cal- culated the linear non-adiabatic oscillations of the radial and low-degree F-p39 modes for evolutionary models from the main sequence to the asymptotic giant branch for stars with solar abundance (X = 0.70, Z = 0.02) in the mass range of 0.6-3.0 3//o. Such a picture can not only naturally account for the red edge of the instability strip, but also the solar-like oscillations in low luminosity red stars and Mira-like ones in high luminosity red giants.
文摘We present a method of 13 late-type main-sequence stars chromospheric flux observation data calculations. These Sun-like stars have well-determined cyclic flux variations similar to the 11-year solar activity cycle. Our flux prediction is based on chromospheric HK emission time series measurements from the Mount Wilson Observatory and comparable solar data. We show that solar three - component modeling explains well the stellar observations. We find that the 10 - 20% of K - stars disc’s surfaces are occupied by bright active regions.
文摘We performed an extensive non-LTE analysis of the neutral sodium lines of Na I 5683/5688, 5890/5896, 6154/6161, and 8183/8195 in disk/halo stars of types F-K covering a wide metallicity range (-4 (?) [Fe/H] (?) +0.4), using our own data as well as data collected from the literature. These results are discussed in comparison with the previous observational studies along with the theoretical predictions from the available chemical evolution models.

文摘The relationship between abundances and orbital parameters for 235 F- and G-type intermediate- and low- mass stars in the Galaxy is analyzed. Additionally, these results indicate that in-fall and out-flow processes play important roles in the chemical evolution of the Galaxy.

文摘We monitored 16 X-ray selected young solar-type stars for light variation and found appreciable periodic light variability with amplitudes of a few hundredths of a magni- tude in nine of the objects. This gives further evidence for the spin up of solar-type stars predicted by models of angular momentum evolution of pre-main sequence stars.
