Fully mechanized mining(FMM)technology has been applied in Chinese coal mines for more than 40 years.At present,the output of a FMM face has reached 10-million tons with Chinese-made equipment.In this study,the new developments in FMM technology and equipment in Chinese coal mines during past decades are introduced.The automatic FMM technology for thin seams,complete sets of FMM technology with ultra large shear height of 7 m for thick seams,complete sets of fully mechanized top coal caving technology with large shear height for ultra-thick seams of 20 m,complete sets of FMM technology for complex and difficult seams,including steeply inclined seams,soft coal seams with large inclination angle,and the mechanized filling mining technology and equipment are presented.Some typical case studies are also introduced.Finally,the existing problems with the FMM technology are discussed,and prospect of FMM technology and equipment applied in Chinese coal mines is put forward. 展开更多

When an extremely thick rock bed exists above a protected coal seam in the bending zone given the condition of a mining protective seam, this extremely thick rock bed controls the movement of the entire overlying stratum. This extremely thick rock bed, called a "main key stratum", will not subside nor break for a long time, causing lower fractures and bed separations not to close and gas can migrate to the bed separation areas along the fractures. These bed separations become gas enrichment areas. By analyzing the rule of fracture evolution and gas migration under the main key stratum after the deep protective coal seam has been mined, we propose a new gas drainage method which uses bore holes, drilled through rock and coal seams at great depths for draining pressure relief gas. In this method, the bores are located at a high level suction roadway (we can also drill them in the drilling field located high in an air gateway). Given the practice in the Haizi mine, the gas drainage rate can reach 73% in the middie coal group, with a gas drainage radius over 100 m. 展开更多

保德煤矿大盘区工作面采前瓦斯超前治理模式要求井下定向长钻孔能够沿煤层钻进3000m以上,针对现有技术装备在超长定向钻孔施工中存在滑动钻进困难、进水水路压耗大、有线随钻测量信号传输距离受限、冲洗液无法循环利用等问题,开发了煤... 保德煤矿大盘区工作面采前瓦斯超前治理模式要求井下定向长钻孔能够沿煤层钻进3000m以上,针对现有技术装备在超长定向钻孔施工中存在滑动钻进困难、进水水路压耗大、有线随钻测量信号传输距离受限、冲洗液无法循环利用等问题,开发了煤矿井下基于螺杆马达水力加压和超长钻具正反扭转给进的滑动钻进减阻工艺、基于回转钻进倾角控制和侧钻分支的复合钻进轨迹控制技术,设计了低压耗进水水路系统、泥浆脉冲无线随钻测量系统和冲洗液净化循环系统,结合保德煤矿生产需要,完成了主孔深度3353 m、孔径120 mm的顺煤层超长贯通定向孔。钻进效果表明:滑动钻进减阻工艺有效降低了给进力,显著提高了深孔滑动定向钻进能力;基于复合钻进的轨迹控制技术,保证了钻孔轨迹沿煤层定向延伸,并提高了钻进能力和钻进效率;泥浆脉冲无线随钻测量信号长距离传输稳定可靠,克服了有线随钻测量信号传输的局限性;井下冲洗液净化循环系统净化效果良好,实现了井下定向钻进冲洗液循环利用。研究成果对支撑煤矿大区域瓦斯超前治理、以孔代巷工程、水害防治及地质勘探等技术进步具有重要意义。 展开更多

This paper highlights the role of automation technologies for improving the safety, productivity, and environmental sustainability of underground coal mining processes. This is accomplished by reviewing the impact that the introduction of automation technology has made through the longwall shearer automation research program of Longwall Automation Steering Committee(LASC). This result has been achieved through close integration of sensing, processing, and control technologies into the longwall mining process. Key to the success of the automation solution has been the development of new sensing methods to accurately measure the location of longwall equipment and the spatial configuration of coal seam geology. The relevance of system interoperability and open communications standards for facilitating effective automation is also discussed. Importantly, the insights gained through the longwall automation development process are now leading to new technology transfer activity to benefit other underground mining processes. 展开更多

Total 138 coal samples and 14 parting samples were taken from the No. 6 Seam of the Jungar Coalfield, Inner Mongolia. These samples were analysed by optical microscopy, sequential chemical extraction procedure (SCEP), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscope in conjunction with an energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (SEM-EDX) analysis. The results indicate that the Li contents have reached the industrial grade of the coal associated Li deposit, and the total Li reserves have reached 2406600 tons, that is, 5157000 tons Li2O in the No. 6 seam in the Jungar Coalfield. The sequential chemical extraction procedure results suggest that the Li concentration is mainly related to inorganic matter. The minerals in the coals consist of kaolinite, boehmite, chlorite-group mineral, quartz, calcite, pyrite, siderite and amorphous clay material. Some Li could be absorbed by clay minerals in the Li-bearing coal seam. The chlorite phase?could be?most likely the host for a part of Li. The Yinshan Oldland should be the most possible source of Li of the coal. 展开更多

Simultaneous extraction of the coal and gas is an effective method of eliminating coal mine gas disasters while safely exploiting the coal and achieving efficient gas drainage in China, which is widely accepted by the main coal-producing countries around the world. However, the concrete definition of simultaneous extraction is vague and there is little accurate theoretical support for the simultaneous extraction of coal and gas, which makes it difficult to determine an efficient gas drainage method appropriate to the features of coal seams. Based on theoretical analysis, laboratory tests and field observations, a specific definition of simultaneous extraction of coal and gas is proposed after analyzing the characteristics of coal seam occurrences in China, and we developed the mechanism of mining-enhanced permeability and established the corresponding theoretical model. This comprises a process of fracture network formation, in which the original fractures are opened and new fractures are produced by unloading damage. According to the theoretical model, the engineering approaches and their quantitative parameters of 'unloading by borehole drilling' for single coal seams and 'unloading by protective seam mining' for groups of coal seams are proposed, and the construction principles for coal exploitation and gas-drainage systems for different conditions are given. These methods were applied successfully in the Tunlan Coal Mine in Shanxi Province and the Panyi Coal Mine in Anhui Province and could assure safe and efficient simultaneous extraction of coal and gas in these outburst coal mines. 展开更多

To accommodate surrounding rock structure stability control problem in underground mining, we study the coupling effect principle between hydraulic support and surrounding rock, and develop a series of longwall mining technology and equipment, which solves four common technical problems that significantly undermine coal mining safety, efficiency, and high recovery and extraction rates. Based on the coupling characteristic between mining-induced stress field and supporting stress field of hydraulic support, we identify six controllable factors in the application of hydraulic support to surrounding rock, and further reveal the relationship between hydraulic support and surrounding rock in terms of the strength, the stiffness, and the stability coupling. Our findings provide a plausible solution to the longwall mining technical problem with 6-8 m mining height. By analyzing the dynamic disequilibrium characteristics between hydraulic support and surrounding rock, we propose the intelligent top coal caving control method and the high-coal-recovery-rate tech- nology for fully mechanized caving faces. With the invention of this technology, China is likely to lead the world in terms of the fully mechanized top coal caving mining technology. We are also the first to employ the intelligent coupling technology between hydraulic support and surrounding rock, and automated mining mode, and supporting system coop- erative control with automatic organization. We develop the comprehensive multi-index intelligence adjusting height decision-making mechanism and three-dimensional navigation automatic adjusting straightness technology based on shearer cutting height memory association, cutting power parameters, vibration, and video information, leading to the first set of intelligent longwall mining technology and equipment for thin seam. Our innovation makes a solid contribution to the revolution of intelligence mining technology. Aimed at the condition in which the coal seams have or do not have an outcrop and outlet on the ground, the application of the gas seepage equation of deep mined coal seams in in-situ stress and geothermal temperature fields on the gas pressure calculation of deep mined coal seams was investigated. The comparison between calculated and measured results indicates that the calculation method of gas pressure, based on the gas seepage equation of deep mined coal seams in in-situ stress and geothermal temperature fields can accu- rately be identical with the measured values and theoretically perfect the calculation method of gas pressure of deep mined coal seams. 展开更多

This study mainly investigates the mechanical mechanism of overlying strata breaking and the development of fractured zones during close-distance coal seam group mining in the Gaojialiang coal mine.First,a mechanical model for the second"activation"of broken overlying strata is established,and the related mechanical"activation"conditions are obtained.A recursive formula for calculating the separation distance of overlying strata is deduced.Second,a height determining method for predicting the height of fractured zones during close-distance coal seam group mining is proposed based on two values,namely,the separation distance and ultimate subsidence value of overlying strata.This method is applied to calculate the fractured zone heights in nos.20107 and 20307 mining faces.The calculated results are almost equal to the field observation results.Third,a modified formula for calculating the height of a waterflowing fractured zone is proposed.A comparison of the calculated and observed results shows that the errors are small.The height determining method and modified formula not only build a theoretical foundation for water conservation mining at the Gaojialiang coal mine,but also provide a reference for estimating the height of water-flowing fractured zones in other coal mines with similar conditions. 展开更多

针对路基上CRTSⅠ和CRTSⅡ型板式无砟轨道的结构特点,分别建立了相应的有限元模型,研究了路基不均匀沉降作用下不同板式无砟轨道受力与变形的传递规律及其影响。分析结果表明:路基不均匀沉降发生后,上部轨道结构的垂向变形具有一定跟随... 针对路基上CRTSⅠ和CRTSⅡ型板式无砟轨道的结构特点,分别建立了相应的有限元模型,研究了路基不均匀沉降作用下不同板式无砟轨道受力与变形的传递规律及其影响。分析结果表明:路基不均匀沉降发生后,上部轨道结构的垂向变形具有一定跟随性,变形与沉降曲线相近但不完全重合;底座板伸缩缝的存在对轨道结构的受力和变形有较大影响,在20 mm/20 m沉降条件下,CRTSⅠ、CRTSⅡ型板的垂向位移分别达沉降幅值的90%和60%,相对CRTSⅠ型板而言,沉降对CRTSⅡ型板的垂向位移影响较小,但后者更易形成较大范围的离缝,离缝长度达6.52 m,为CRTSⅠ型板离缝长度的1.92倍;当沉降幅值位于底座板中心时,离缝主要集中在伸缩缝、沉降端部和沉降中心,但当沉降幅值位于伸缩缝处时,离缝主要集中在伸缩缝两侧和沉降端部;沉降波长或幅值改变时,会导致最大离缝位置出现偏移;在路基不均匀沉降作用下,CRTSⅠ型板的底座板纵向最大拉应力均大于轨道板的纵向最大拉应力,而CRTSⅡ型板的情形则相反;从混凝土强度考虑,CRTSⅠ型板沉降控制标准应以底座板的拉应力控制为主,而CRTSⅡ型板应以轨道板和底座板的拉应力综合控制。 展开更多

In multiple seams mining, the seam with relatively low gas content (protective seam) is often extracted prior to mining its overlying and/or underlying seams of high gas content and low permeability to minimize the risk of high gas emission and outbursts of coal and gas. A key to success with this mining sequence is to gain a detailed understanding of the movement and fracture evolution of the overlying and underlying strata after the protective seam in extracted. In Zhuji mine, the No. 11-2 seam is extracted as a protective seam with the pillarless mining method by retaining goal-side roadways prior to its overlying No. 13-1 seam. An investigation has been undertaken in the panel 1111 (1) of Zhuji mine to physically simulate the movement and fracture evolution of the overlying strata alter the No. 1 I-2 seam is extracted. In the physical simulation, the displacement, strain, and deformation and failure process of the model for simulation were acquired with various means such as grating displacement meter, strain gauges, and digital photography. The simulation result shows that: (1) Initial caving interval of the immediate roof was 21.6 m, the first weighting interval was 23.5-37.3 m with the average interval of 33.5 m, and the periodic weighting interval of the main roof was in a range of 8.2-20.55 m and averaged at 15.2 m. (2) The maximum height of the caving zone after the extraction of No. 11-2 seam was 8.0 m, which was 4 times of the seam mining height and the internal strata of the caving zone collapsed irregularly. The mining-induced fractures developed 8-30 m above the mined No. 11-2 seam, which was 7.525 times of the seam mining height, the fracture zone was about 65° upward from the seam open-off cut toward the goaf, the height of longitudinal joint growth was 4-20 times of the mining seam height, and the height of lateral joint growth was 20-25 times of the mining seam height. To improve the effectiveness of control of surrounding rock and the stability of supports on longwall topcoal caving faces in steeply inclined coal seams, the stability of the roof structure and hydraulic supports was studied with physical simulation and theoretical analysis. The results show that roof strata in the vicinity of the tail gate subside extensively with small cutting height, while roof subsidence near the main gate is relatively assuasive. With increase of the mining space, the caving angle of the roof strata above the main gate increases. The characteristics of the vertical and horizontal displacement of the roof strata demonstrate that caved blocks rotate around the lower hinged point of the roof structure, which may lead to sliding instability. Large dip angle of the coal seam makes sliding instability of the roof structure easier.A three-hinged arch can be easily formed above both the tail and main gates in steeply inclined coal seams. With the growth in the dip angle, subsidence of the arch foot formed above the main gate decreases significantly, which reduces the probability of the roof structure becoming unstable as a result of large deformation, while the potential of the roof structure's sliding instability above the tail gate increases dramatically. 展开更多

The effect of confining pressure and pore pressure on the strength of coal was stt, died. Experimental results show that the coal seam in the study areas has a relatively low elastic modulus, high Poisson's ratio, high fragility and is easily broken and compressed. The coal seam is considered as a transversely isotropic medium, since the physical properties in the direction of bedding plane and orthogonal to the bedding plane vary markedly. Based on the generalized plane strain model, stress distribution for an arbitrarily orientated wellbore in the coal seam was determined. In a horizontal well, hydraulic fracturing was lbund to initiate in the coal seam mass due to tensile failure, or from cleats due to shear or tensile failure. For those coal seams with abundant natural cleats, hydraulic fracture initiation can be induced by any of these mechanisms. Robot welding is an important developing direction of welding automation and intelligentization, and automatic seam tracking technology is one of principal research domains. Nowadays, seam tracking system with structured light vision becomes a hot research. Structured light vision seam tracking products abroad are generally very expensive and can only be applied on special occasions. In China, the research of structured light vision seam tracking system is still just on the stage of experiments. A robot real-time seam tracking system with line structured light vision is designed. The hardware system is set up, a filtering method for line structure seam image is improved, and compared with common filtering, it has better effect and characteristic of real time. Two methods, fast template matching and fast Hough transform, to recognize the image coordinates of seam center are improved. Two new image recognition methods, structure element matching and comer detecting, are proposed. The comparison of seam image recognition shows that fast template matching and comer detecting are more precise and stable than the other two methods, and comer detecting is the best in real time. A simultaneous calibration for camera parameters and robot hand-eye is also proposed, and calculation shows that the calibration is effective and feasible. The robot seam tracking tests for linear and folded lap-joint are performed, which are based on the above four image recognition methods, and the results indicate that four image recognition methods are all applicable to real-time seam tracking, and the whole system sufficed for the requirements of real-time seam tracking. Automatic seam tracking with line structured light vision is feasible and has good versatility. 展开更多

A theory of seepage instability was used to estimate the harmfulness of water-inrush from a coal seam floor in a particular coal mine of the Mining Group,Xuzhou. Based on the stratum column chart in this coal mine,the distribu-tion of stress in mining floors when the long-wall mining was respectively pushed along to 100 m and to 150 m was simulated by using the numerical software (RFPA2D). The permeability parameters of the coal seam floor are described given the relationship between permeability parameters. Strain and the water-inrush-indices were calculated. The wa-ter-inrush-index was 67.2% when the working face was pushed to 100 m,showing that water-inrush is possible and it was 1630% when the working face was pushed to 150 m,showing that water-inrush is quite probable. The results show that as long-wall mining is pushed along,the failure zone is enlarged,the strain increased,and fissures developed cor-respondingly,resulting in the formation of water-inrush channels. Accompanied by the failure of the strata,the perme-ability increased exponentially. In contrast,the non-Darcy flow β factor and the acceleration coefficient decreased ex-ponentially,while the increase in the water-inrush-index was nearly exponential and the harmfulness of water-inrush in the coal mine increased accordingly. 展开更多
