We applied principal component analysis(PCA)to the study of five ground level enhancements(GLEs)of cosmic ray(CR)events.The nature of the multivariate data involved makes PCA a useful tool for this study.A subroutine ...We applied principal component analysis(PCA)to the study of five ground level enhancements(GLEs)of cosmic ray(CR)events.The nature of the multivariate data involved makes PCA a useful tool for this study.A subroutine program written and implemented in the R software environment generated interesting principal components.Analysis of the results shows that the method can distinguish between neutron monitors(NMs)that observed Forbush decreases from those that observed GLEs at the same time.The PCA equally assigned NMs with identical signal counts with the same correlation factor(r)and those with close r values equally have a close resemblance in their CR counts.The results further indicate that while NMs that have the same time of peak may not have the same r,most NMs that had the same r also had the same time of peak.Analyzing the second principal components yielded information on the differences between NMs having opposite but the same or close values of r.NMs that had the same r equally had the tendency of being close in latitude.展开更多

The weights of all ensemble members are thus calculated for summer 2012, with the NCEP final operational global analysis （FNL） data as the truth. Based on the weights of all ensemble members, the variable weighted ensemble mean （VWEM） of temperature of summer 2013 is derived and compared with that from the simple equally weighted ensemble mean. The results show that VWEM has lower root-mean-square error （RMSE） as well as absolute error, and has improved the temperature prediction accuracy. The improvements are quite notable over the Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas; specifically, a relative improvement rate of RMSE of more than 24% in 2-m temperature is demonstrated. Moreover, the improvement rates vary slightly with the pre- diction lead-time （24-96 h）. It is suggested that the VWEM approach be employed in operational ensemble predic- tion to provide guidance for weather forecasting and climate prediction.展开更多

Strong convergence of the sequence generated by thesealgorithms is proved in uniformly smooth and strictly convex real Banach spaces with Kadec-Klee property. Chin J Integr Trad & West Med 2007;27(3):201-203. Objective To study the clinical effect of "Jin′s three-needling" in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder. Methods Fifty-eight patients with generalized anxiety were randomly assigned to two groups equally. the medication group treated with anti-anxiety drugs and the acupuncture group with "Jin′s three-needling". The treatment course was 6 weeks. The clinical effects were evaluated with Hamilton anxiety scale (HAMA), clinical global impression (CGI), and treatment emergent symptom scale (TESS) before treatment and at the end of 2nd, 4th, 6th week of the treatment course. The concentration of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in platelet, and plasma levels of corticosterone (CS) and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) were measured with high performance liquid chromatography-electrochemical detection (HPLC-ED) method before and after treatment. Results The clinical effects in the two groups were equivalent, while the adverse reaction found in the acupuncture group was less than that in the medication group (P【0.05). The platelet concentration of 5-HT and plasma ACTH level decreased significantly in both groups after treatment with insignificant difference between the group (P【0.05). The plasma CS level had no obvious change in the two groups after treatment as compared with that before treatment.Conclusion "Jin′s three-needling" shows similar curative effect on generalized anxiety to routine Western medicine but with less adverse reaction, which may be realized through regulating the platelet 5-HT concentration and plasma ACTH level.展开更多

The risk and performance of ST stocks are studied.The SVM method is applied on 100 general stocks and 100 ST stocks selected from the website,and a criterion is gotten to select stocks,then the risk of these sample st...The risk and performance of ST stocks are studied.The SVM method is applied on 100 general stocks and 100 ST stocks selected from the website,and a criterion is gotten to select stocks,then the risk of these sample stocks is analysed.In the performance evaluation,the SVM method is also applied on the 100 general stocks and 100 ST stocks according to the return per share,and 57 stocks which are all +1 are selected.Their equally weighted return rate is only-0.02%,but equally weighted return rate of 31 general stocks is 13.23%,that of 26 ST stocks is-96.15%.Naturally,we conclude that ST stocks are unsteady and do not deserve long-term investment.From the Chinese fund website,we know that equally weighted return rate of stock fund in 2004 was-3.3%,so the equally weighted return rate of the selected stocks(except ST stocks)is much higher than that of average return rate.展开更多
