Findings from this study include: severely damaged dams were densely distributed along the seismologic fault; small dams, especially small earth-rock dams, had the most serious damage that was caused by a variety of factors; the most serious damage was caused by seismic waves; damage was aggregated by aftershocks; and the extent of the damage patterns increased with the seismic intensity. Damage patterns varied in different intensity zones and cracking was the most common type of damage. Most of the dams had a good base with relatively high bearing capacity, and the walls of the earth-rock dams were mostly of clay soil. This type of base and body material mitigated some of the damage to dams. Reservoir maintenance and other factors also have a significant impact on the seismic safety of the dam. Finally, some recommendations to reduce seismic damage to dams are proposed.展开更多

Based on this question, our team modified D2EHPA to synthesize new extractants. This paper presents a comprehensive study on the extraction of rare earth ions (RE3+) from phosphate leach solution using emulsion liquid membrane (ELM) in concentrated nitric acid medium. The ELM system is made up of (RO)2P(O)OPh-COOH as carrier, polyisocrotyl succinimide (T154) as surfactant, sulfonated kerosene as diluent, phosphoric acid (H3PO4) as stripping solution. Different chemical parameters such as type and concentration of carrier, surfactant, stripping solution, volume ratio of oil phase to internal phase, and volume ratio of emulsion ratio to external phase were analyzed. The extraction of RE^3+ was evaluated by the yield of extraction. In addition, the demulsification process was also investigated. The proposed method of ELM using (RO)2P(O)OPh-COOH as carrier can he expected to provide an efficient, simplify operation, and facilitated method for extractine RE^3+.展开更多

It can be concluded that the groundwater is warm (34.0-37.2 ℃) C1-Ca, Na type water with circum-neutral pH (7.35-8.28) and high total dissolved solids (TDS, 1 746-2 849 mg/L). The groundwater exhibits heavy REEs enrichment relative to light REEs compared with Post Archean Average Shale (PAAS), as well as their aquifer rocks (limestone). The enrichment of REEs is considered to be controlled by terrigeneous materials (e.g. zircon) in aquifer rocks, whereas the fractionation of REEs is controlled by marine derived materials (e.g. calcite), to a less extent, terrigeneous materials and inorganic complexation. The Ce anomalies normalized to PAAS and aquifer rocks are weak, which probably reflects the signature of the aquifer rock rather than redox conditions or pH. The similarities of REE patterns between groundwater and aquifer rocks imply that aquifer rocks play important roles in controlling the REE characteristics of groundwater, and then provide a probability for discrimination of groundwater sources by using REEs.展开更多

The coupling effect between bedding layer and concrete slab was taken into account when the stability of downstream concrete slab was researched. The characteristics of overflow and seepage over the downstream concrete slab were investigated when floodwater passes over the cofferdam. Firstly a limit equation of seepage failure for the bedding layer was derived with the consideration of geometric and mechanical factors, and a reliability model was established and numerically simulated. Then based on the reliability calculation for the bedding layer, the coupling effect between bedding layer and downstream concrete slab was analyzed. Under the most unfavorable pressure condition for the concrete slab, its instability criterion was put forward, which offers a structural design tool of downstream concrete slab for overflow earth-rock cofferdam. Compared with model tests, it shows that the model of reliability calculation of bedding layer and the stability analysis of downstream concrete slab are effective.展开更多

The rare earth elements(REEs) are absorbed by crops and enter the human body through the food chain, which threatens people’s health. The effects of four phosphorus-containing materials-calcium superphosphate(SSP), phosphate rock(PR), calcium magnesium phosphate(CMP) and bone charcoal(BC) on rice growth and bacterial community structure in REE mining area of Xinfeng County were studied by pot experiment. The soil solution was collected during rice transplanting and harvest periods respectively, the rice and soil samples were collected and sequenced. The concentrations of water-soluble REEs were measured by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS), and bacteria in soil was deeply sequenced by the Illumina Miseq sequencing platform. PR, CMP and BC promoted the growth of rice, improved the biomass of rice roots, shoots and grains, and significantly reduced absorption and accumulation of REEs in rice roots, shoots and grains. SSP treatment reduced the pH value of soil, significantly improved the concentration of REE solution in soil and improved biomass of rice roots, shoots and grains, and significantly improved the concentration of REEs in grain. The effects of phosphorus-containing materials on the absorption and accumulation of 15 REEs in rice roots, shoots and grains were very different, and significantly influenced the soil bacterial community. SSP reduced richness and diversity of bacteria. CMP improved the diversity of soil bacteria, but reduced their richness. PR and BC treatment improved the richness and diversity of soil bacteria, and significantly increased the abundance of Bacillus. The results showed that adding PR, CMP and BC to soil in the REE mining area of Xinfeng can improve food security and eco-environmental quality, and hence, are potential restorative materials;SSP is not recommended for use in acidic soils.展开更多
