Since English has been widely used in the world, an effective and suitable English website is essential for a company to use as a kind of advertisement and publicity, where its cultural values are presented.With companies' websites as subjects and Hofstede's cultural dimension theory as the theoretical basis, this study, through text content and data analysis of company profiles,strategies and cultures, tries to find out the tendency of Chinese and American companies on the five cultural value dimensions,which is power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism, masculinity and long-term orientation. Accordingly, constructive suggestions are put forward to help appease and avoid misunderstandings, and promote business communication and collaboration.展开更多

As far as C hinese culture and French culture is concerned,there are also similarities and differences,the latter of which reflects the differences existing in the two different ideological systems having formed through thousands of years.In order to bridge cultural gaps,scholars both at home and abroad research different cultures and get different cross-cultural theories,one of which is the cultural dimension theory put forward by the Dutch scholar Hofstede. Based on such a theory,this paper attempts to make clear the root cause of the differences between C hinese culture and French culture so that people of the two cultures can have a better understanding of each other and can communicate fluently with each other and cultural conflicts will thus reduce and there will be more political,economic and cultural communication between the two cultures.展开更多
