This paper deals with the coupled method of finite and dynamic infinite elements for simulating wave propagation in elastic and viscoelastic solids involving infinite domains.This method can be used to simultaneously ...This paper deals with the coupled method of finite and dynamic infinite elements for simulating wave propagation in elastic and viscoelastic solids involving infinite domains.This method can be used to simultaneously simulate material complexities in the near field and the infinite extent of the far field.Based on the governing equations of wave motion in two-dimensional and three-dimensional elastic/viscoelastic solids,the mass and stiffness matrices of the dynamic infinite element have been derived.The proposed two-dimensional dynamic infinite element can be used to simulate both the P-wave and the SV-wave propagation within the element,while the proposed three-dimensional dynamic infinite element can be used to simultaneously simulate the Rayleigh wave,P-wave and S-wave propagation within the element.The related simulation results have demonstrated that the coupled method of finite and dynamic infinite elements can be accurately used to simulate,both physically and computationally,wave propagation in elastic/viscoelastic solids involving infinite domains.Thus,this method provides an advanced scientific tool for dealing with both scientific and engineering problems involving infinite domains.展开更多
Random dynamic responses caused by the uncertainty of structural parameters of the coupled train-ballasted track-subgrade system under train loading can pose safety concerns to the train operation.This paper introduce...Random dynamic responses caused by the uncertainty of structural parameters of the coupled train-ballasted track-subgrade system under train loading can pose safety concerns to the train operation.This paper introduced a computational model for analyzing probabilistic dynamic responses of three-dimensional(3D)coupled train-ballasted track-subgrade system(TBTSS),where the coupling effects of uncertain rail irregularities,stiffness and damping properties of ballast and subgrade layers were simultaneously considered.The number theoretical method(NTM)was employed to design discrete points for the multi-dimensional stochastic parameters.The time-histories of stochastic dynamic vibrations of the TBSS with systematically uncertain structural parameters were calculated accurately and efficiently by employing the probability density evolution method(PDEM).The model-predicted results were consistent with those by the Monte Carlo simulation method.A sensitivity study was performed to assess the relative importance of those uncertain structural parameters,based on which a case study was presented to explore the stochastic probability evolution mechanism of such train-ballasted track-subgrade system.展开更多

A gradient smoothing technique is used, and the requirements on the consistence...We proposed a mesh-free method, the called node-based smoothed point interpolation method(NS-PIM),for dynamic analysis of rotating beams. A gradient smoothing technique is used, and the requirements on the consistence of the displacement functions are further weakened. In static problems, the beams with three types of boundary conditions are analyzed, and the results are compared with the exact solution, which shows the effectiveness of this method and can provide an upper bound solution for the deflection.This means that the NS-PIM makes the system soften. The NS-PIM is then further extended for solving a rigid-flexible coupled system dynamics problem, considering a rotating flexible cantilever beam. In this case, the rotating flexible cantilever beam considers not only the transverse deformations,but also the longitudinal deformations. The rigid-flexible coupled dynamic equations of the system are derived via employing Lagrange’s equations of the second type. Simulation results of the NS-PIM are compared with those obtained using finite element method(FEM) and assumed mode method. It is found that compared with FEM, the NS-PIM has anti-ill solving ability under the same calculation conditions.展开更多

It is schemed for ...A relative position and attitude coupled sliding mode controller is proposed by combining the standard super twisting (ST) control and basic linear algorithm for autonomous rendezvous and docking. It is schemed for on-orbit servicing to a tumbling non- cooperative target spacecraft subjected to external disturbances. A coupled dynamic model is established including both kinemati- cal and dynamic coupled effect of relative rotation on relative translation, which illustrates the relative movement between the docking port located in target spacecraft and another in service spacecraft. The modified super twisting (MST) control algorithm containing linear compensation items is schemed to manipulate the relative position and attitude synchronously. The correction provides more robustness and convergence velocity for dealing with linearly growing perturbations than the ST control algorithm. Moreover, the stability characteristic of closed-loop system is ana- lyzed by Lyapunov method. Numerical simulations are adopted to verify the analysis with the comparison between MST and ST control algorithms. Simulation results demonstrate that the pro- posed MST controller is characterized by high precision, strong robustness and fast convergence velocity to attenuate the linearly increasing perturbations.展开更多
