In addition, migration, either voluntary or forced, is accompanied by significant changes in suicide ideation, frequency of suicide attempts and rates of suicide of people that migrate compared to the host country. However, several different peculiarities render the interpretation of the interaction of migration-suicidality as quite complex. This article provides an overview of the most significant aspects that contribute to this complexity, in order to provide the reader with a road map for better orientation in a world of rapidly changing landscapes.展开更多

Questionnaire data are collected by using the survey form and then paths of effect factors on adaption to university life of Korean training Chinese students in Korea are analyzed. The results indicate that Korean language proficiency, physical symptoms, loneliness, self-efficacy, acculturation stress are direct effect factors on Chinese students adapting to university life in Korea. Besides, Korean language proficiency, physical symptoms, loneliness are not only direct effect factors on self-efficacy and acculturation stress but also indirect effect factors on Chinese students adapting to university life in Korea. In order to improve ability of Korean training Chinese students adapting to university life in Korea, Korean language proficiency and self-efficacy should be improved. And, some effective interventions should be given to reducing physical symptoms, loneliness and acculturation stress.展开更多

Using hwabyung, this article describes the psychological ramifications of immigration experiences among Korean immigrant women in the United States. Data collected from an anonymous survey of adult Korean immigrant women (n = 143) were used for a statistical analysis. The findings highlight the significant effects of self-esteem, social support, financial hardship, and family cohesion on the changes in the hwabyung symptoms among Korean immigrant women. Based on the findings, the implications for practice and future study are discussed. Also discussed are the global significance of migrant women and their mental health issues.展开更多
