A new empirical formula for the astrophysical S-factor has been suggested as a function of the Coulomb interaction parameter,center of mass energy,and barrier height.About 22 fusion reactions with ^(40,48)Ca as projec...A new empirical formula for the astrophysical S-factor has been suggested as a function of the Coulomb interaction parameter,center of mass energy,and barrier height.About 22 fusion reactions with ^(40,48)Ca as projectiles were considered for different targets,leading to compound nuclei with atomic and mass numbers varying between 40≤Z≤≤Z≤112 and 88≤A≤27888≤A≤278,respectively.The fusion cross-sections have been estimated using the geometric factor,the Gamow-Sommerfield factor,and the empirical formula for the S-factor.This study's findings showed better agreement with those of available experiments when compared to Wong's formula.The present work leads to a smaller standard deviation value than Wong's formula when used to correlate the experimental data of calcium-induced fusion reactions.Wong's formula provides a good approximation of fusion cross-sections when the center of mass energy is below the fusion barrier when compared to above the fusion barrier.展开更多

Minor literature--or, in other words, minor language signifies oppositiona...The article approaches Wong Kar-wai＇s cinematic work using the notion of ＂minor literature＂ as coined by Gilles Deleuze and F61ix Guattari. Minor literature--or, in other words, minor language signifies oppositional/resistant uses of a major/hegemonic language. It appropriates hegemonic language and deterritorialises it by re-signifying its original meanings. By transferring this concept from literature to cinema, we can describe Hong Kong cinema, which deterritorialises Hollywood cinema, as a minor cinema in relation to Hollywood. Following this interpretation, Wong Kar-wai＇s movies appear as a ＂minor language of a minor cinema＂ because they are significantly different from Hong Kong＇s mainstream action cinema. Consequently, Wong＇s movies possess a high level of deterritorialising power, which opens up new spaces of meaning and gives voice to positions usually oppressed by mainstream cinema. Finally, a close reading of Wong＇s movie Happy Together shows how ＂minor movies＂ challenge the mainstream＇s unison and give space to a resistant and transforming polyphony.展开更多

In 1981 Liu Sui claimed that it was Dr. Wong San-yin who invited Lu Xun, and Liu Sui himself was part of a reception team headed by Dr. Wong. In 1993 Zhao Jinsheng revealed that he was the person who had invited Lu Xun and organized his trip and lectures. The investigation of an outbreak of amoxycillin clavulanic acid resistant E. coli pseudobacteremia is described. Seventeen cases occurred over a five day period. The source of the E. coli was traced to the blood culture specimen of a patient (index patient) with genuine bacteremia as a result of urinary tract infection. The other 16 case patients had pseudobacteremia which was found to be the result of cross contamination during subculture of blood specimens. The E. coli strain was carried over from the culture bottle of the index patient, through the contaminated gloved hands of a technician to the culture bottles of the other 16 cases. Although the pseudobacteremia occurred over a five day period, they all resulted from cross contamination during blood culture processing within one day. An early outbreak investigation was prompted by the unusual finding of amoxycillin clavulanic acid resistance in the case E. coli isolates in a short period. The relatedness of the E. coli strains from the 17 cases was confirmed by arbitrary primed polymerase chain reaction. Clinicians should be alerted to the possibility of a blood E. coli isolate being a contaminant despite its predominant role as a true pathogen.展开更多

The picture of interaction between particles with the Lorentz gauge field is described in an analogous manner to that between isotopic-spin-carrying particles and Yang-Mills field. By examining the effective potential and the equations of orbits for particles, it is found that the considered motions possess some qualitative features resembling to motions of particles in a centrally symmetric gravitational field.展开更多
