Objective:To observe the effects of muscle regions of meridians needling method combined with auricular point sticking on pain and lumbar range of motion in patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain.Methods:A to...Objective:To observe the effects of muscle regions of meridians needling method combined with auricular point sticking on pain and lumbar range of motion in patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain.Methods:A total of 100 patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group,with 50 patients in each group.Both groups received auricular point sticking treatment,while the control group received additional conventional acupuncture treatment,and the observation group received additional muscle regions of meridians needling method.The total effective rate of the two groups was compared after 4 weeks of treatment.Before treatment and after 1 week and 4 weeks of treatment,the visual analog scale(VAS)score was used to assess the degree of low back pain,and the modified-modified Schober(MMS)score was used to evaluate the lumbar range of motion.Results:There was statistical significance in comparing the total effective rate between the two groups(P<0.01).During the treatment process,as the number of treatments increased,the VAS score gradually decreased,and the MMS score gradually increased in both groups.After 1 week and 4 weeks of treatment,the VAS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.01),and the MMS score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.01).During the treatment period,no serious adverse reactions occurred in either group.Conclusion:Based on auricular point sticking treatment,muscle regions of meridians needling method is more effective than conventional acupuncture in treating chronic nonspecific low back pain since it is able to significantly reduce the pain and improve the lumbar range of motion.展开更多
Objective:To investigate whether blood-brain barrier(BBB)served a key role in the edema-relief effect of bloodletting puncture at hand twelve Jing-well points(HTWP)in traumatic brain injury(TBI)and the potential molec...Objective:To investigate whether blood-brain barrier(BBB)served a key role in the edema-relief effect of bloodletting puncture at hand twelve Jing-well points(HTWP)in traumatic brain injury(TBI)and the potential molecular signaling pathways.Methods:Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were assigned to the shamoperated(sham),TBI,and bloodletting puncture(bloodletting)groups(n=24 per group)using a randomized number table.The TBI model rats were induced by cortical contusion and then bloodletting puncture were performed at HTWP twice a day for 2 days.The neurological function and cerebral edema were evaluated by modified neurological severity score(mNSS),cerebral water content,magnetic resonance imaging and hematoxylin and eosin staining.Cerebral blood flow was measured by laser speckles.The protein levels of aquaporin 4(AQP4),matrix metalloproteinases 9(MMP9)and mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway(MAPK)signaling were detected by immunofluorescence staining and Western blot.Results:Compared with TBI group,bloodletting puncture improved neurological function at 24 and 48 h,alleviated cerebral edema at 48 h,and reduced the permeability of BBB induced by TBI(all P<0.05).The AQP4 and MMP9 which would disrupt the integrity of BBB were downregulated by bloodletting puncture(P<0.05 or P<0.01).In addition,the extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK)and p38 signaling pathways were inhibited by bloodletting puncture(P<0.05).Conclusions:Bloodletting puncture at HTWP might play a significant role in protecting BBB through regulating the expressions of MMP9 and AQP4 as well as corresponding regulatory upstream ERK and p38 signaling pathways.Therefore,bloodletting puncture at HTWP may be a promising therapeutic strategy for TBI-induced cerebral edema.展开更多

BACKGROUND Although the occurrence of multiple primary cancers(MPC)is not exceedingly common,it is not rare in clinical practice.In recent years,there has been a notable increase in its incidence.The frequent confusio...BACKGROUND Although the occurrence of multiple primary cancers(MPC)is not exceedingly common,it is not rare in clinical practice.In recent years,there has been a notable increase in its incidence.The frequent confusion between MPC and tumor metastasis or recurrence often leads to delays in diagnosis and treatment.This study aimed to enhance understanding of MPC,improve diagnostic accuracy,guide precise clinical treatment,and implement a case management nursing model(CMNM)to facilitate quick patient recovery.CASE SUMMARY A 61-year-old female patient presented with persistent upper abdominal pain lasting over 2 months.Gastroscopy revealed the presence of both gastric and duodenal cancers.Following a thorough evaluation,the patient underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy,cholecystectomy,and total gastrectomy.Post-surgery,an individualized case management nursing approach was applied,leading to a successful recovery.Three months after the surgery,follow-up examinations showed no signs of recurrence.CONCLUSION The CMNM effectively promoted rapid patient recovery,enhanced the quality of orthopedic nursing services,and accelerated postoperative recovery,ultimately leading to increased patient satisfaction with nursing care.展开更多

The risk factors and precautions of inpatient suicide were explored. Thirty suicide victims were drawn from the adverse event reports of suicidal act during hospitalization in a general hospital from 2008 to 2014. Dat...The risk factors and precautions of inpatient suicide were explored. Thirty suicide victims were drawn from the adverse event reports of suicidal act during hospitalization in a general hospital from 2008 to 2014. Data were gathered from the focus group interviews of twelve nurses who had experienced inpatient suicide. The data were analyzed by using analytical technique based on grounded theory, and software QSR NVIVO8 was used to aid the collation of data. Three main themes of risk factors about inpatient suicide emerged from the analysis： individual value, social factors and environmental factors. The individual value was categorized into different groups such as sense of guilt, hopelessness and low self-esteem. Social factors included two aspects of negative life events and social support. Three themes of precautions about inpatient suicide appeared in this study： evaluation, nursing and information exchange. Evaluation was elaborated from both physical and psychological assessments. This finding extends existing work of risk factors and precautions about inpatient suicide and brings new knowledge about the reasons why inpatients commit suicide.展开更多

Methods Seventeen children with mediastinal enteric cysts in the last 20 years were studi...Objective The aim of this study is to discuss the etiology, clinical diagnosis and therapy of enteric cysts in the mediastinum. Methods Seventeen children with mediastinal enteric cysts in the last 20 years were studied retrospectively. Results There were one esophageal intramural cyst and 16 enteric cysts. Two of 16 cases had combined esophageal with gastric duplication. Most patients presented with symptoms of respiratory distress. Twelve patients had associated with vertebral anomalies. The cystic nature of these lesions were confirmed by ultrasound in 12 cases and MRI in 4. Eight patients who had 99Tm Tc scan showed hot spots in the posterior mediastinum. Conclusion Most patients present with symptoms of respiratory distress and vertedbral anomalies. Ultrasonography and MRI may be helpful in confirming the cyctic nature of these lesions. 99TmTc scan is the most effective method for differentiating from other mediastinal cysts. 11 refs.展开更多
