This work focuses on predicting human mobility from discovering patterns of in the number of passenger pick-ups quantity (PUQ) from urban hotspots. This paper proposes an improved ARIMA based prediction method to forecast the spatial-temporal variation of passengers in a hotspot. Evaluation with a large-scale real- world data set of 4 000 taxis' GPS traces over one year shows a prediction error of only 5.8%. We also explore the applica- tion of the pl^di^fioti approach to help drivers find their next passetlgerS, The sinatllation results using historical real-world data demonstrate that, with our guidance, drivers can reduce the time taken and distance travelled, to find their next pas- senger+ by 37.1% and 6.4% respectively,展开更多

By applying the DG method with appropriately chosen numerical traces, the existence and uniqueness of the DG solution, the optimal order L2 error bounds, and 2p+ 1-order superconvergence of the numerical traces are established. The numerical results indicate that the DG method does not produce any oscillation even under the uniform mesh. Numerical experiments demonstrate that, under the uniform mesh, it seems impossible to obtain the uniform superconvergence of the numerical traces. Nevertheless, thanks to the implementation of the so-called Shishkin-type mesh, the uniform 2p + 1-order superconvergence is observed numerically.展开更多

We introduce the Projection onto Convex Sets (POCS) based image restoration method into the seismic data reconstruction field to interpolate irregularly missing traces. For entire dead traces, we transfer the POCS iteration reconstruction process from the time to frequency domain to save computational cost because forward and reverse Fourier time transforms are not needed. In each iteration, the selection threshold parameter is important for reconstruction efficiency. In this paper, we designed two types of threshold models to reconstruct irregularly missing seismic data. The experimental results show that an exponential threshold can greatly reduce iterations and improve reconstruction efficiency compared to a linear threshold for the same reconstruction result. We also analyze the anti- noise and anti-alias ability of the POCS reconstruction method. Finally, theoretical model tests and real data examples indicate that the proposed method is efficient and applicable.展开更多

The analysis of penetrating depth can help to determine whether the target is within the effective detection range and contribute to distinguishing useful echoes from noise.First, this study introduces two traditional methods, both based on a radar transmission equation, to calculate the penetrating depth. The only difference between the two methods is that the first method adopts system calibration parameters given in the calibration report and the second one uses high-voltage-off radar data. However, some prior knowledge and assumptions are needed in the radar equation and the accuracy of assumptions will directly influence the final results. Therefore, a new method termed the Correlation Coefficient Method(CCM) is provided in this study, which is only based on radar data without any a priori assumptions. The CCM can obtain the penetrating depth according to the different correlation between reflected echoes and noise. To be exact, there is a strong correlation in the useful reflected echoes and a random correlation in the noise between adjacent data traces. In addition, this method can acquire a variable penetrating depth along the profile of the rover, but only one single depth value can be obtained from traditional methods. Through a simulation, the CCM has been verified as an effective method to obtain penetration depth. The comparisons and analysis of the calculation results of these three methods are also implemented in this study. Finally, results show that the ultimate penetrating depth of Channel 1 and the estimated penetrating depth of Channel 2 range from 136.9 m to 165.5 m(ε_r = 6.6) and from 13.0 m to 17.5 m(ε_r = 2.3), respectively.展开更多

The relationships between FSR, probe pulse width and repeat period are given to balance the amplitude fluctuation of OTDR traces, the dead zone probability and the measurable frequency range of vibration events. In the experiment, we achieve synchronous vibration and loss measurement with FSR of 40 MHz/s, the proble pulse width of 100 ns and repeat rate of 0.4 ms. The fluctuation of OTDR trace is less than 0.45 dB when the signalto-noise ratio(SNR) is over 12 dB for a captured vibration event located at 9.1 km. The proposed method can be used for not only detection but also early warning of damage events in optical communication networks.展开更多
