The influencing mechanism of chromium on the oxidation resistance of Ti-Cr alloys was discussed. The results show that the oxidation resistance of the alloys decreases with Cr below a critical chromium content wC and increases above wC; above 1000 K, the oxidation kinetics obeys parabolic rule and titanium dominates the oxidation process; after oxidation, the oxygen-diffusing layer is present in the alloy matrix, the oxide scale is mainly composed of rutile whose internal layer is rich in chromium, and chromium oxides separated out from TiO2 near the alloy-oxide interface improve the oxidation resistance. Ignition of metals and alloys is a fast non-isothermal oxidation process and the oxidation mechanism of Ti-Cr alloys during ignition is predicted.展开更多

The result reveals that the pure Cr2O3 pigment presents both a high near-infrared reflectance and excellent yellowish-green color. Meanwhile, titanium was doped to improve the NIR reflectance and strengthen the color. The color of the designed pigments was brighter, and most importantly, the NIR reflectance increased from 84.04% to 91.25% with increasing Ti content from 0 to 0.006% (mole fraction). However, excessive doping of Ti4+ for Cr3+ in Cr2O3 (x(Ti)≥0.008%) decreased the NIR reflectance. One possible reason is that the conductivity type of the Cr2?xTixO3+δ changed from p-type conduction to n-type conduction with increasing Ti content, accompanied by the change of the electrical resistivity and the NIR reflectance. The prepared yellowish-green Cr2O3 pigments have a great potential for extensive applications in construction and military.展开更多

These alloys were prepared by arc melting and copper mould suction casting. The structures of as-cast (Ti0.46Cr0.54)100-xVx (x = 2.5, 5.0, and 7.1) alloy ingots evolve with V contents from pure Laves-(x = 2.5) to dual-phase TiCr2-BCC structures (5.0 and 7.1), whereas the suction-cast (Ti0.46Cr0.54)100-xVx (x =2.5, 5.0, and 7.1) alloys only contain single BCC phase. The suction-cast alloy rod (Ti0.46Cr0.54)95V5, containing only 5.0 at% V is shown to possess the optimum hydrogen absorption capacity, with the maximum hydrogen content of 3.14 wt%. Furthermore, the hydrogen storage properties of the suction-cast low V alloys (TiyCr1-y)95V5 (y = 0.38-0.54) are sensitive to Ti/Cr ratios and only those alloys with Ti/Cr ratios close to the CN14 cluster [TiTCrs] have good hydrogen storage properties.展开更多
