However, the fault transporting capacity cannot be evaluated quantitatively at present. Taking the Zhanhua Sag in the Bohai Bay Basin as an example, this work analyzed the factors influencing the transporting capacity of the oil-source faults and proposed a quantitative method for evaluating their transporting capacity.展开更多

The analysis of measured values suggests that the decrease in PQ is a case of specific combination of distributed generation, grid parameters and load behaviour. Modern generators have a limited impact on PQ. On the other hand, fluctuations in power generation are regarded as an emerging PQ indicator. The growing number of distributed renewable installations causes stochastic, variable, and hardly predictable power flows in the distribution grid. The nature of fluctuations in wind and solar generation is different. In both cases, new indexes for the quantification of fluctuations are needed and are yet not standardised. Proper assessment of these fluctuations enables definition of useful fluctuation limits and rules for optimal storage system integration.展开更多

Voltage sags are normally described by characteristics of both magnitude and duration, but phaseangle jump should be taken into account in identifying sag phenomena and finding their solutions. In this paper, voltage sags due to power system faults such as single phase-to-ground, phase-tophase, and two-phase-to-ground faults are characterized by using symmetrical component analysis and their effect on the magnitude variation and phase-angle jumps for each phase are examined. A simple and practical method is proposed for voltage sag detection, by calculating RMS voltage over a window of one-half cycle. The industrial distribution system at Bajaj hospital is taken as a case study. Simulation studies have been performed by using MATLAB/SIMULINK and the results are presented at various magnitudes, duration and phase-angle jumps.展开更多

Instead of using a single or independent renewable energy source, it is preferable to use the combination of such energy sources in a distributed way to compensate the power fluctuations of the system and this leads to the concept of hybrid micro-grid energy. Voltage stability is an important parameter for the secure operation of the hybrid-micro grid, and IEEE 1547 Standard defines the limit of the voltage for the successful operation of the micro-grid. Although Vanadium Redox Batteries (VRBs) can help the system to stabilize the voltage when voltage sag occurs when a heavy load is suddenly connected to the system, this stabilization process takes some time. This paper discusses the application of super capacitors to the hybrid micro-grid system, as a higher energy density element, to help the system quickly recover its transient voltage.展开更多

The total organic carbon content was estimated primarily and directly by using continuous conventional logging curves (such as sonic and resistivity curves), which are calibrated through the laboratory analysis data of organic carbon of cores, cuttings or sidewall cores. Regional evaluations have been carried out in downwarping basins abroad. The Haila′er Basin is a faulted basin and the evaluation of such a basin is a new subject. On the basis of a regional evaluation method for the downwarping basins, a new method suitable to faulted basins was developed. The effect is satisfactory when this new method is applied to the Wu′erxun Sag and the Bei′er Sag.展开更多

One-cycle control is an effective nonlinear signal modulation control method. In this paper, a new one-cycle control scheme for DVR was proposed in single phase supply system. On the basis of principle analysis, the corresponding one-cycle control model for DVR was built up, which is characterized by simple control circuits, good control performance, and high control precision. As an example, a control model for single-phase DVR was simulated by using Matlab/Simulink and SimPowerSystem. The results show that the load voltage could be compensated quickly at the points of supply voltage stepping down and up, and the relative error was less than 4% in the whole voltage sag process. Both theory analysis and simulation results show that the new one-cycle control scheme for DVR is effective.展开更多

Power electronic devices such as Voltage Source Converter (VSC) based Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) etc. can be used to mitigate the voltage problems in the distribution system. The voltage problems dealt with in this paper are to show how to mitigate unbalanced voltage sags and voltage unbalance in the CIGRE Low Voltage (LV) test network and networks like this. The voltage unbalances, for the tested cases in the CIGRE LV test network are mainly due to single phase loads and due to unbalanced faults. The compensation of unbalanced voltage sags and voltage unbalance in the CIGRE distribution network is done by using the four STATCOM compensators already existing in the test grid. The simulations are carried out in DIgSILENT power factory software version 15.0.展开更多
