IL-17 receptor (IL-17R or IL-17RA) is essential for IL-17 biological activity. Emerging data suggest that the formation of a heteromeric and/or homomeric receptor complex is required for IL-17 signaling. Here we show that the orphan receptor IL-17RD (Sef, similar expression to FGF genes or IL-17RLM) is associated and colocalized with IL-17R. Importantly, IL-17RD mediates IL-17 signaling, as evaluated using a luciferase reporter driven by the native promoter of 24p3, an IL-17 target gene. In addition, an IL-17RD mutant lacking the intraeellnlar domain dominant-negatively suppresses IL-17R- mediated IL-17 signaling. Moreover, IL-17RD as well as IL-17R is associated with TRAF6, an IL-17R downstream molecule. These results indicate that IL-17RD is a part of the IL-17 receptor signaling complex, therefore providing novel evidence for IL-17 signaling through a heteromeric and/or homomeric receptor complex.展开更多

The Strengthened Electric Field(SEF) technique and ...In this paper, we report on the design, simulation and testing of a novel CZT detector with an electrode named the Strengthened Electric Field Line Anode(SEFLA). The Strengthened Electric Field(SEF) technique and Single Polarity Charge Sensing(SPCS) technique are implemented. It could achieve the same performance as Coplanar Grid, Pixel Array CZT detectors but requires only a simple readout system. Geant4, Ansoft Maxwell and a self-developed Induced Current Calculator(ICC) package are used to develop an understanding of how the energy spectrum is formed, and the parameters of the detector are optimized. A prototype is fabricated. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of this design. The test shows that the SEFLA detector achieves a FWHM of6.0% @59.5 ke V and 1.6% @662 ke V, which matches well with the simulations.展开更多
Sensor networks are vulnerable to many attacks because the sensor networks operate in open environments. It is easy to incur one or more attacks such as a selective forwarding attack, a false report injection attack. ...Sensor networks are vulnerable to many attacks because the sensor networks operate in open environments. It is easy to incur one or more attacks such as a selective forwarding attack, a false report injection attack. It is hard to defend the sensor network from the multiple attacks through existing security methods. Thus, we suggest an energy-efficient security method in order to detect the multiple attacks. This paper presents a security method to detect the false report injection attack and the selective forwarding attack in the sensor network using a new message type. The message type is a filtering message. The filtering message prevents from generating and forwarding false alert messages. We evaluated performance of our proposed method through a simulation in comparison with an application of SEF (statistical enroute filtering scheme) and CHEMAS (Check point-based Multi-hop Acknowledgement Scheme). The simulation results represent that the proposed method is 10% more energy-efficient than the application when the number of false reports is great while retaining the detection performance.展开更多

The results indicate that these isotopes have a rotational property SU(3). The energy levels for the ground-state, γ-and β-bands of ^168-178 Hf have been calculated using the Interacting Boson Model and Semi Empirical Formula(SEF). The parameters of the best fit to the measured data are determined. The behavior of energy and B(E2) ratios in the ground state band are examined.展开更多

Experimental observations show that the nonmetallic substra...The fluorescence enhancement of Rhodanfine 6G (Rh6G) fluorophore in the close vicinity of porous alumina film with ordered nanohole arrays is investigated. Experimental observations show that the nonmetallic substrate with hole arrays enhances the fluorescence intensity. By comparing the fluorescence emissions that are excited with 325 nm and 532 nm, better fluorescence enhancement is obtained with excitation at a shorter wavelength. The study suggests that higher fluorescence excitation effi- ciency due to the energy transfer from oxygen vacancies to Rh6G fluorophore molecules is responsible for better fluorescence enhancement. The contribution of the scattering of nanohole arrays to the fluorescence enhancement is also proposed based on the intensity increase and reduced lifetime when the energy transfer from oxygen vacancy is absent. The result of the current study is useful for developing non-metal substrates in the study of spectroscopic enhancement, and is expected to advance the applications of porous alumina to microanalysis.展开更多
