Based on basin-margin facies, sedimentary thinning, size and shape of the basin and vitrinite reflectance, North Yellow Sea Basin is not a residual basin. Analysis of the development of the basin's three structural layers, self-contained petroleum systems, boundary fault activity, migration of the Mesozoic--Cenozoic sedimentation centers, different basin structures formed during different periods, and superposition of a two-stage extended basin and one-stage depression basin, the North Yellow Sea Basin is recognized as a superimposed basin.展开更多

Then the multiscale global optimization method based on coarse graining analysis is presented, by which a set of approximate global optimal bases is directly obtained from Navier-Stokes equations and the construction of optimal dynamical systems is realized. The optimal bases show good properties, such as showing the physical properties of complex flows and the turbulent vortex structures, being intrinsic to real physical problem and dynamical systems, and having scaling symmetry in mathematics, etc.. In conclusion, using fewer terms of optimal bases will approach the exact solutions of Navier-Stokes equations, and the dynamical systems based on them show the most optimal behavior.展开更多

Ex-periments reveal an overall enhancement for residual thermal coupling and absorptance in air. Surprisingly, residual thermal coupling in air shows a non-monotonic dependence on pulse number and reaches a minimum value after a certain number of pulses, while these behaviors are not seen in absorptance. In vacuum, how-ever, both suppression and enhancement are seen in residual energy coupling although ab-sorptance is always enhanced. From these ob-servations, it appears that air plasma plays a dominant role in thermal coupling at a relatively low number of applied pulses, while the forma-tion of craters plays a dominant role at a high number of pulses.展开更多

This technique was used to analyse over one hundred borehole log data in the Northern Bushveld Complex in order to describe the geometric pattern and trends of the RLS rocks. The results demonstrate the usefulness of this technique in identifying structural features. Regional trends of each of the stratigraphic units reveal the presence of regional structures that were not obvious at the surface. This first part of the paper focused on the Northern Bushveld Complex, while the second and the third part focused on the eastern and western Bushveld limbs respectively.展开更多
