Most of these applications require a precise real-time positioning system for each vehicle. However, practically the existing tecniques are still not accurate and hence not suitable for some critical applications. In this paper, we will focus on the most critical ones which are the collision avoidance, and collision warning, or lane-tracking. Collision occurs when the distance between nearby vehicles decreases rapidly. Hence, an accurate and precise knowledge of the distance among each vehicle and all the surrounding vehicles has to be obtained to enable a realistic collision avoidance service. We propose to use the carbon nanotube network (CNT) integrated with other nano-devices that can provide accuracy in the order of millimeters. In this paper, theoretical investigations and mathematical formulations are presented. The obtained results show the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed methodology.展开更多

A testing system utilizing grating is set up to test this new motor, and the theoretical movement principle for the motor is proved by experiments. The pulse waveforms are applied to drive the motor to move in steps. The motor has a displacement resolution of 10 nm and a maximum velocity of 0.6 mm/s. It can drive a 200 g slider whose range is 20 mm. A one-dimensional precision positioning platform is fabricated by using the new hybrid piezoelectric motor. The prototype is made up of two servomotors and two piezoelectric motors, which are controlled automatically by a computer. The positioning range of the platform is 10 cm.展开更多

These do not provide dynamic control over the area in which the cattle are grazing. Existing virtual fencing techniques for the control of herds of cattle, based on polygon coordinate definition of boundaries is limited in the area of land mass coverage and dynamism. This work seeks to develop a more robust and an improved monocular vision based boundary avoidance for non-invasive stray control system for cattle, with a view to increase land mass coverage in virtual fencing techniques and dynamism. The monocular vision based depth estimation will be modeled using concept of global Fourier Transform (FT) and local Wavelet Transform (WT) of image structure of scenes (boundaries). The magnitude of the global Fourier Transform gives the dominant orientations and textual patterns of the image;while the local Wavelet Transform gives the dominant spectral features of the image and their spatial distribution. Each scene picture or image is defined by features v, which contain the set of global (FT) and local (WT) statistics of the image. Scenes or boundaries distances are given by estimating the depth D by means of the image features v. Sound cues of intensity equivalent to the magnitude of the depth D are applied to the animal ears as stimuli. This brings about the desired control as animals tend to move away from uncomfortable sounds.展开更多

This is the causal class of the null emission coordinates. Emission coordinates are defined and generated by four emitters broadcasting their proper times. The emission coordinates are covariant (frame independent) and hence valid for any user. Any observer can obtain the values of his (her) null emission coordinates from the emitters which provide him his (her) position and trajectory.展开更多
