Thin fihn coatings of palladium, which are added onto the TiZrV film to increase the service life of nonevaporable getters and enhance H2 pumping speed, were deposited on the inner face of stainless steel pipes by dc magnetron sputtering using argon gas as the sputtering gas. The TiZrV-Pd film properties were investigated by atomic force microscope (AFM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The grain size of TiZrV and Pd films were about 0.42 1.3 nm and 8.5-18.25 nm respectively. It was found that the roughness of TiZrV films is small, about 2 4 nm, but for Pd film it is large, about 17 19 nm. The PP At. % of Pd in TiZrV/Pd films varied from 86.84 to 87.56 according to the XPS test results.展开更多

Under the static state condition, both the Pd-Cu and Pd-Co plated samples exhibit good corrosion resistance and the Pd-Cu film behaves slightly better. However, with increasing the stirring speed, the corrosion rate of the Pd-Cu plated samples increases obviously while that of the Pd-Co plated samples shows only slight increase. Higher microhardness and lower surface roughness of Pd-Co film than those of Pd-Cu film, as well as good corrosion resistance, may be the main reasons for better erosion-corrosion resistance in the strong reductive acid plus erosion environment.展开更多
Introduction Pd/Ti double-layer thin film as non-evaporable getter(NEG)was deposited by sublimation,and its activation temperature was as low as 100℃.The Pd film was deposited in situ after Ti deposition to ensure no...Introduction Pd/Ti double-layer thin film as non-evaporable getter(NEG)was deposited by sublimation,and its activation temperature was as low as 100℃.The Pd film was deposited in situ after Ti deposition to ensure no oxidization on Ti film.Pumping speed test and characterization method The pumping speed of the coated pipe was measured by a pumping speed test system.The sticking factor was calculated by Molflow.The surface morphology was observed by a scanning electron microscope(SEM).The chemical composition of the film was measured by an energy-dispersive spectrum inbuilt with the SEM.The crystalline structure of the film was measured using grazing incidence X-ray diffraction.Conclusion It was found that the pumping performance of the Pd/Ti film still remained high after 15 times of activation.The maximum pumping speed after heating at 100℃for 24 h was 1.1 L/s cm^(2)and 0.49 L/s cm^(2)for H_(2)and CO,respectively.It can be concluded that the key to reducing the activation temperature of NEG materials is to enhance the oxidation resistance of the surface of NEG.展开更多
