It is a respiratory tropism SARS COV 2 infection. In the emergency of the pandemic, in medical imaging, only computed tomography (CT) of the lungs was favored to assess lung lesions. In addition, many cases of post-COVID-19 cognitive disorders have been reported. As the curve dips and services restart correctly, other imaging techniques have been used to better explore the disease. The objective of this presentation is to illustrate the contribution of metabolic imaging in the exploration of post COVID-19 cognitive disorders and to discuss the pathophysiological mechanisms. Hypometabolism brain lesions are objective signs of functional impairment whose pathophysiological mechanism is not yet fully understood. Metabolic imaging with PET-SCAN is a suitable tool for exploring these disorders, both for the severity and extent of the lesions and for the topography of the brain damage.展开更多
Interim Positron-Emission Tomography (int-PET) and the peripheral blood absolute lymphocyte/monocyte ratio at di- agnosis (ALC/AMC-DX) have been shown to be predictors for progression-free survival (PFS) and time to p...Interim Positron-Emission Tomography (int-PET) and the peripheral blood absolute lymphocyte/monocyte ratio at di- agnosis (ALC/AMC-DX) have been shown to be predictors for progression-free survival (PFS) and time to progression (TTP) in classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL). Therefore, we studied if the combination of ALC/AMC-DX and the (int-PET) can further stratified PFS and TTP in cHL patients. Patients were required to be diagnosed, treated, and followed with int-PET at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. From 2000 until 2008, 111 cHL patients qualified for the study. The median follow-up was 2.8 years (range: 0.3 - 10.4 years). Patients with a negative int-PET (N = 98) pre- sented with a higher ALC/AMC-DX (median of 2.32, range: 0.26 - 37.5) compared with patients with a positive int-PET (N = 13) (median of 0.9, range: 0.29 - 3.10), p 1.1. Group 1 experienced superior PFS and TTP in comparison with the other groups. In conclusion, the combination of ALC/AMC-DX and the int-PET provides a simple model to assess clinical outcomes in cHL.展开更多

Methods: We present a case of a patient with a painless mass situated in the left parotid region after an initial cytological and radiological study suggesting a Warthin tumor whose treatment involved a total parotidectomy with a facial nerve reconstruction. Results: The histopathological result showed a malignant melanoma that after various studies and evaluations showed no other primary origin different from the parotid gland itself. Conclusions: Salivary gland melanomas are relatively rare entities that when being of a primary origin and localized in the parotid gland become even more uncommon. Upon a melanoma found in the parotid gland, the first suspicion should be a metastatic origin, being the most common sites the oral cavity and the skin from the head and neck region.展开更多
Background: Carcinosarcoma of hypopharynx is a rare neoplasm with both malignant epithelial and mesenchymal components. They are highly aggressive in nature with controversial histogenesis. To our knowledge, there is ...Background: Carcinosarcoma of hypopharynx is a rare neoplasm with both malignant epithelial and mesenchymal components. They are highly aggressive in nature with controversial histogenesis. To our knowledge, there is no case reported of carcinosarcoma of hypopharynx managed with wide LASER excision and modified radical neck dissection followed by chemoradiation. Method and Result: 42-year-old male presented complaints of foreign body sensation in throat, and difficulty in swallowing and hoarseness for 4 months. On examination, a large smooth globular mass filling the supraglottis obscuring the view of endolarynx was noted and right side level-II cervical lymphadenopathy was found. CECT neck revealed a large hypopharyngeal mass abutting the supraglottis. Microlaryngoscopic biopsy was reported as high grade carcinosarcoma and PET scan was done after 1 week which revealed no any distant metastasis. The patient was taken for transoral pulsed carbon dioxide LASER excision with modified radical neck dissection, and postoperative chemoradiation was done and after two years of closed follow-up MRI was done which revealed no disease and the patient is absolutely free of disease till now. Conclusion: It was a rare case which was managed with complete LASER excision with neck dissection and postoperative chemoradiation and the patient is absolutely free of disease till now after 2 years of follow-up.展开更多

Positron emission tomography/CT (PET/CT) examination showed multiple lesions in the seminal Vesicles, parapharyngeal space, mediastinum and spermatic cord. The result of transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided biopsy indicated a diffuse, large, B-cell lymphoma of the seminal vesicles. PET-CT and TRUS guided biopsy were very helpful to make the correct diagnosis of this unique case.展开更多

We describe a case of 69 years old gentleman, who prese...Neurolymphomatosis, defined as invasion of cranial nerves and peripheral nerve roots, plexus or nerves by Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a very rare clinical entity. We describe a case of 69 years old gentleman, who presented to us with asymmetric, painful sensorimotor polyneuropathy. He was admitted with 2 months history of dry cough, constitutional symptoms, paraesthesias on right side of face along with painful asymmetrical quadriparesis. Nerve conduction studies were suggestive of asymmetrical sensorimotor axonal and demyelinating neuropathy. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis revealed mild pleocytosis with raised protein. FDG-PET showed intense uptake in both adrenals, abdominal lymph nodes, sacral nerve roots and brachial plexus. Fine needle aspiration cytology of adrenal mass revealed evidence of diffuse large B cell Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. As patient succumbed to illness, an autopsy was done, which revealed diffuse large B cell lymphoma involving adrenals, brachial and lumbosacral plexuses. Our report provides important insights into a rare cause of painful demyelinating multiple mononeuropathy and emphasises on increasing role and diagnostic utility of PET imaging in evaluation of patients presenting with multiple mononeuropathy, especially with regards to paraneoplastic or neoplastic causes such as lymphoma.展开更多
