Swarm intelligence algorithms are a subset of the artificial intelligence(AI)field,which is increasing popularity in resolving different optimization problems and has been widely utilized in various applications.In th...Swarm intelligence algorithms are a subset of the artificial intelligence(AI)field,which is increasing popularity in resolving different optimization problems and has been widely utilized in various applications.In the past decades,numerous swarm intelligence algorithms have been developed,including ant colony optimization(ACO),particle swarm optimization(PSO),artificial fish swarm(AFS),bacterial foraging optimization(BFO),and artificial bee colony(ABC).This review tries to review the most representative swarm intelligence algorithms in chronological order by highlighting the functions and strengths from 127 research literatures.It provides an overview of the various swarm intelligence algorithms and their advanced developments,and briefly provides the description of their successful applications in optimization problems of engineering fields.Finally,opinions and perspectives on the trends and prospects in this relatively new research domain are represented to support future developments.展开更多
As for the drop of particle diversity and the slow convergent speed of particle in the late evolution period when particle swarm optimization(PSO) is applied to solve high-dimensional multi-modal functions,a hybrid ...As for the drop of particle diversity and the slow convergent speed of particle in the late evolution period when particle swarm optimization(PSO) is applied to solve high-dimensional multi-modal functions,a hybrid optimization algorithm based on the cat mapping,the cloud model and PSO is proposed.While the PSO algorithm evolves a certain of generations,this algorithm applies the cat mapping to implement global disturbance of the poorer individuals,and employs the cloud model to execute local search of the better individuals;accordingly,the obtained best individuals form a new swarm.For this new swarm,the evolution operation is maintained with the PSO algorithm,using the parameter of pop distr to balance the global and local search capacity of the algorithm,as well as,adopting the parameter of mix gen to control mixing times of the algorithm.The comparative analysis is carried out on the basis of 4 functions and other algorithms.It indicates that this algorithm shows faster convergent speed and better solving precision for solving functions particularly those high-dimensional multi-modal functions.Finally,the suggested values are proposed for parameters pop distr and mix gen applied to different dimension functions via the comparative analysis of parameters.展开更多

The velocity- dependent bank a...Abstract This paper presents the novel use of the particle swarm optimization (PSO) to generate the end-to-end trajectory for hypersonic reentry vehicles in a quite simple formulation. The velocity- dependent bank angle profile is developed to reduce the search space of unknown parameters based on the constrained PSO algorithm. The path constraints are enforced by setting the fitness function to be infinite on condition that the particles violate the maximum allowable values. The PSO algo- rithm also provides a much easier means to satisfy the terminal conditions by adding penalty terms to the fitness function. Furthermore, the approximate reentry landing footprint is fast constructed by incorporating an interpolation model into the standardized bank angle profiles. Numerical sim ulations demonstrate that the PSO method is a feasible and flexible tool to generate the end-to-end trajectory and landing footprint for hypersonic reentry vehicles.展开更多

By utilizing the estimated system states, the particle swarm optimized critic neural network(PSOCNN) is employed to solve the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation(HJBE) more efficiently.Then, a data-based FTC scheme, which consists of the NN identifier and the fault compensator, is proposed to achieve actuator fault tolerance. The stability of the closed-loop system under actuator faults is guaranteed by the Lyapunov stability theorem. The proce- dure is demonstrated using a ...Abstract This paper describes a longitudinal parameter identification procedure for a small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) through modified particle swam optimization (PSO). The proce- dure is demonstrated using a small UAV equipped with only an micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) inertial mea,mring element and a global positioning system (GPS) receiver to provide test information. A small UAV longitudinal parameter mathematical model is derived and the modified method is proposed based on PSO with selective particle regeneration (SRPSO). Once modified PSO is applied to the mathematical model, the simulation results show that the mathematical model is correct, and aerodynamic parameters and coefficients of the propeller can be identified accurately. Results are compared with those of PSO and SRPSO and the comparison shows that the proposed method is more robust and faster than the other methods for the longitudinal parameter identification of the small UAV. Some parameter identification results are affected slightly by noise, but the identification results are very good overall. Eventually, experimental validation is employed to test the proposed method, which demonstrates the usefulness of this method.展开更多

The proposed ...This paper proposes an artificial neural network(ANN) based software reliability model trained by novel particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm for enhanced forecasting of the reliability of software. The proposed ANN is developed considering the fault generation phenomenon during software testing with the fault complexity of different levels. We demonstrate the proposed model considering three types of faults residing in the software. We propose a neighborhood based fuzzy PSO algorithm for competent learning of the proposed ANN using software failure data. Fitting and prediction performances of the neighborhood fuzzy PSO based proposed neural network model are compared with the standard PSO based proposed neural network model and existing ANN based software reliability models in the literature through three real software failure data sets. We also compare the performance of the proposed PSO algorithm with the standard PSO algorithm through learning of the proposed ANN. Statistical analysis shows that the neighborhood fuzzy PSO based proposed neural network model has comparatively better fitting and predictive ability than the standard PSO based proposed neural network model and other ANN based software reliability models. Faster release of software is achievable by applying the proposed PSO based neural network model during the testing period.展开更多

Then, particle swarm optimization(PSO)is used with the aim of minimizing the operation cost of the microgrid to achieve economic dispatching of the microgrid. This considers power balance equation constraints, unit operation constraints, energy storage constraints, and heat storage constraints. Finally, the simulation results show the improved level of photoelectric consumption using the proposed scheme and the economic benefits of the microgrid.展开更多

However, most of the previous work focused on the deployment problem in 2D space.Compared to the traditional form, sensors deployment in multidimensional space has greater research significance and practical potential to satisfy the detecting needs in complex environment.Aiming at solving this issue, a multi-dimensional space sensor network model is established, and the radar system is selected as an example. Considering the possible working mode of the radar system(e.g., searching and tracking), two distinctive deployment models are proposed based on maximum coverage area and maximum target detection probability in the attack direction respectively. The latter one is usually ignored in the previous literature.For uncovering the optimal deployment of the sensor network, the particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm is improved using the proposed weights determination scheme, in which the linear decreasing, the pooling strategy and the cloud theory are combined for weights updating. Comprehensive nonlinear vehicle model is utilized for simulation vehicle response during various maneuvers in MATLAB/Simulink. In order to follow desired path, a driver model is developed to enhance closed loop driver/vehicle model. Then, linear quadratic regulator(LQR) controller is developed which regulates direct yaw moment and corrective steering angle on wheels. Particle swam optimization(PSO) method is utilized to optimize the LQR controller for various dynamic conditions. Simulation results indicate that, over various maneuvers, side slip angle and lateral acceleration can be reduced by 10% and 15%, respectively, which sustain the vehicle stable. Also, anti-lock brake system is designed for longitudinal dynamics of vehicle to achieve desired slip during braking and accelerating. Proposed comprehensive controller demonstrates that vehicle steerability can increase by about 15% during severe braking by preventing wheel from locking and reducing stopping distance.展开更多

In MAPSOPF, agents can communicate and compete with each other and learn from each other. The MAPSOPF algorithm can update the prediction of particle, adjust the proposal distribution of particles, improve localization precision and fault tolerance, and propel the particles to concentrate on the robot's true pose. Compared with standard particle filter(PF), the proposed method can achieve better SLAM precision by fewer particles. Simulations verify its effectiveness and feasibility.展开更多

Then, a predicting model for NO_x emission is established on support vector machine(SVM) whose parameters are optimized by the improved PSO. Afterwards, a new optimization model considering coal quantity and air quantity along with the traditional optimization variables is established. At last,the operating parameters are optimized by the improved PSO to cut down the NO_x emission. An application on 600 MW unit shows that the new optimization model can cut down NO_x emission effectively and maintain the load balance well. The NO_x emission optimized by the improved PSO is lowest among some state-of-the-art intelligent algorithms. This study can provide important guides for the low NO_x combustion in the power plant.展开更多
The Mixed No-Idle Flow-shop Scheduling Problem(MNIFSP)is an extension of flow-shop scheduling,which has practical significance and application prospects in production scheduling.To improve the efficacy of solving the ...The Mixed No-Idle Flow-shop Scheduling Problem(MNIFSP)is an extension of flow-shop scheduling,which has practical significance and application prospects in production scheduling.To improve the efficacy of solving the complicated multiobjective MNIFSP,a MultiDirection Update(MDU)based Multiobjective Particle Swarm Optimization(MDU-MoPSO)is proposed in this study.For the biobjective optimization problem of the MNIFSP with minimization of makespan and total processing time,the MDU strategy divides particles into three subgroups according to a hybrid selection mechanism.Each subgroup prefers one convergence direction.Two subgroups are individually close to the two edge areas of the Pareto Front(PF)and serve two objectives,whereas the other one approaches the central area of the PF,preferring the two objectives at the same time.The MDU-MoPSO adopts a job sequence representation method and an exchange sequence-based particle update operation,which can better reflect the characteristics of sequence differences among particles.The MDU-MoPSO updates the particle in multiple directions and interacts in each direction,which speeds up the convergence while maintaining a good distribution performance.The experimental results and comparison of six classical evolutionary algorithms for various benchmark problems demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.展开更多

The BA for solving continuous problems is introduced, and combining with mathematical formulations, the BA is reformed to be the DBA for DSP problems. The fitness function model(FFM) is built to evaluate the quality of disassembly sequences. The optimization performance of the DBA is tested and verified by an application case, and the DBA is compared with the genetic algorithm(GA), particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm and differential mutation BA(DMBA). Numerical experiments show that the proposed DBA has a better optimization capability and provides more accurate solutions than the other three algorithms.展开更多

The current research on springback predicti...Most of the existing studies use constant force to reduce springback while researching stretch force. However, variable stretch force can reduce springback more efficiently. The current research on springback prediction in stretch bending forming mainly focuses on artificial neural networks combined with the finite element simulation. There is a lack of springback prediction by support vector regression(SVR). In this paper, SVR is applied to predict springback in the three-dimensional stretch bending forming process, and variable stretch force trajectory is optimized. Six parameters of variable stretch force trajectory are chosen as the input parameters of the SVR model. Sixty experiments generated by design of experiments(DOE) are carried out to train and test the SVR model. The experimental results confirm that the accuracy of the SVR model is higher than that of artificial neural networks. Based on this model, an optimization algorithm of variable stretch force trajectory using particle swarm optimization(PSO) is proposed. The springback amount is used as the objective function. Changes of local thickness are applied as the criterion of forming constraints. The objection and constraints are formulated by response surface models. The precision of response surface models is examined. Six different stretch force trajectories are employed to certify springback reduction in the optimum stretch force trajectory, which can efficiently reduce springback. This research proposes a new method of springback prediction using SVR and optimizes variable stretch force trajectory to reduce springback.展开更多

Finally, the simulation results show the improved level of photoelectric consumption using the proposed scheme and the economic benefits of the microgrid.
文摘Sensors deployment optimization has become one of the most attractive fields in recent years. However, most of the previous work focused on the deployment problem in 2D space.Compared to the traditional form, sensors deployment in multidimensional space has greater research significance and practical potential to satisfy the detecting needs in complex environment.Aiming at solving this issue, a multi-dimensional space sensor network model is established, and the radar system is selected as an example. Considering the possible working mode of the radar system(e.g., searching and tracking), two distinctive deployment models are proposed based on maximum coverage area and maximum target detection probability in the attack direction respectively. The latter one is usually ignored in the previous literature.For uncovering the optimal deployment of the sensor network, the particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm is improved using the proposed weights determination scheme, in which the linear decreasing, the pooling strategy and the cloud theory are combined for weights updating. Experimental results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

文摘An accurate prediction of earth pressure balance(EPB)shield moving performance is important to ensure the safety tunnel excavation.A hybrid model is developed based on the particle swarm optimization(PSO)and gated recurrent unit(GRU)neural network.PSO is utilized to assign the optimal hyperparameters of GRU neural network.There are mainly four steps:data collection and processing,hybrid model establishment,model performance evaluation and correlation analysis.The developed model provides an alternative to tackle with time-series data of tunnel project.Apart from that,a novel framework about model application is performed to provide guidelines in practice.A tunnel project is utilized to evaluate the performance of proposed hybrid model.Results indicate that geological and construction variables are significant to the model performance.Correlation analysis shows that construction variables(main thrust and foam liquid volume)display the highest correlation with the cutterhead torque(CHT).This work provides a feasible and applicable alternative way to estimate the performance of shield tunneling.
文摘The control problem of trajectory based path following for passenger vehicles is studied. Comprehensive nonlinear vehicle model is utilized for simulation vehicle response during various maneuvers in MATLAB/Simulink. In order to follow desired path, a driver model is developed to enhance closed loop driver/vehicle model. Then, linear quadratic regulator(LQR) controller is developed which regulates direct yaw moment and corrective steering angle on wheels. Particle swam optimization(PSO) method is utilized to optimize the LQR controller for various dynamic conditions. Simulation results indicate that, over various maneuvers, side slip angle and lateral acceleration can be reduced by 10% and 15%, respectively, which sustain the vehicle stable. Also, anti-lock brake system is designed for longitudinal dynamics of vehicle to achieve desired slip during braking and accelerating. Proposed comprehensive controller demonstrates that vehicle steerability can increase by about 15% during severe braking by preventing wheel from locking and reducing stopping distance.

文摘To overcome particle impoverishment, a simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM) method based on multi-agent particle swarm optimized particle filter(MAPSOPF) was presented by introducing the idea of multi-agent to the particle swarm optimized particle filter(PSOPF) which is an algorithm for SLAM. In MAPSOPF, agents can communicate and compete with each other and learn from each other. The MAPSOPF algorithm can update the prediction of particle, adjust the proposal distribution of particles, improve localization precision and fault tolerance, and propel the particles to concentrate on the robot's true pose. Compared with standard particle filter(PF), the proposed method can achieve better SLAM precision by fewer particles. Simulations verify its effectiveness and feasibility.

文摘Since the efficiency of photovoltaic(PV) power is closely related to the weather,many PV enterprises install weather instruments to monitor the working state of the PV power system.With the development of the soft measurement technology,the instrumental method seems obsolete and involves high cost.This paper proposes a novel method for predicting the types of weather based on the PV power data and partial meteorological data.By this method,the weather types are deduced by data analysis,instead of weather instrument A better fault detection is obtained by using the support vector machines(SVM) and comparing the predicted and the actual weather.The model of the weather prediction is established by a direct SVM for training multiclass predictors.Although SVM is suitable for classification,the classified results depend on the type of the kernel,the parameters of the kernel,and the soft margin coefficient,which are difficult to choose.In this paper,these parameters are optimized by particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm in anticipation of good prediction results can be achieved.Prediction results show that this method is feasible and effective.

文摘This paper focuses on the combustion optimization to cut down NO_x emission with a new strategy.Firstly, orthogonal experimental design(OED) and chaotic sequences are introduced to improve the performance of particle swarm optimization(PSO). Then, a predicting model for NO_x emission is established on support vector machine(SVM) whose parameters are optimized by the improved PSO. Afterwards, a new optimization model considering coal quantity and air quantity along with the traditional optimization variables is established. At last,the operating parameters are optimized by the improved PSO to cut down the NO_x emission. An application on 600 MW unit shows that the new optimization model can cut down NO_x emission effectively and maintain the load balance well. The NO_x emission optimized by the improved PSO is lowest among some state-of-the-art intelligent algorithms. This study can provide important guides for the low NO_x combustion in the power plant.

文摘The Mixed No-Idle Flow-shop Scheduling Problem(MNIFSP)is an extension of flow-shop scheduling,which has practical significance and application prospects in production scheduling.To improve the efficacy of solving the complicated multiobjective MNIFSP,a MultiDirection Update(MDU)based Multiobjective Particle Swarm Optimization(MDU-MoPSO)is proposed in this study.For the biobjective optimization problem of the MNIFSP with minimization of makespan and total processing time,the MDU strategy divides particles into three subgroups according to a hybrid selection mechanism.Each subgroup prefers one convergence direction.Two subgroups are individually close to the two edge areas of the Pareto Front(PF)and serve two objectives,whereas the other one approaches the central area of the PF,preferring the two objectives at the same time.The MDU-MoPSO adopts a job sequence representation method and an exchange sequence-based particle update operation,which can better reflect the characteristics of sequence differences among particles.The MDU-MoPSO updates the particle in multiple directions and interacts in each direction,which speeds up the convergence while maintaining a good distribution performance.The experimental results and comparison of six classical evolutionary algorithms for various benchmark problems demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
文摘Based on the bat algorithm(BA), this paper proposes a discrete BA(DBA) approach to optimize the disassembly sequence planning(DSP) problem, for the purpose of obtaining an optimum disassembly sequence(ODS) of a product with a high degree of automation and guiding maintenance operation. The BA for solving continuous problems is introduced, and combining with mathematical formulations, the BA is reformed to be the DBA for DSP problems. The fitness function model(FFM) is built to evaluate the quality of disassembly sequences. The optimization performance of the DBA is tested and verified by an application case, and the DBA is compared with the genetic algorithm(GA), particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm and differential mutation BA(DMBA). Numerical experiments show that the proposed DBA has a better optimization capability and provides more accurate solutions than the other three algorithms.

文摘Most of the existing studies use constant force to reduce springback while researching stretch force. However, variable stretch force can reduce springback more efficiently. The current research on springback prediction in stretch bending forming mainly focuses on artificial neural networks combined with the finite element simulation. There is a lack of springback prediction by support vector regression(SVR). In this paper, SVR is applied to predict springback in the three-dimensional stretch bending forming process, and variable stretch force trajectory is optimized. Six parameters of variable stretch force trajectory are chosen as the input parameters of the SVR model. Sixty experiments generated by design of experiments(DOE) are carried out to train and test the SVR model. The experimental results confirm that the accuracy of the SVR model is higher than that of artificial neural networks. Based on this model, an optimization algorithm of variable stretch force trajectory using particle swarm optimization(PSO) is proposed. The springback amount is used as the objective function. Changes of local thickness are applied as the criterion of forming constraints. The objection and constraints are formulated by response surface models. The precision of response surface models is examined. Six different stretch force trajectories are employed to certify springback reduction in the optimum stretch force trajectory, which can efficiently reduce springback. This research proposes a new method of springback prediction using SVR and optimizes variable stretch force trajectory to reduce springback.
文摘This paper deals a detailed performance investigation of asymmetrical six-phase grid connected induction generator(GCIG)in two proposed configurations in variable speed operation.During the system development,regulation of DC-link voltage has been proposed using particle swarm optimization(PSO)based PI controller,ensuring the power flow to utility grid through back to back converters.The closed loop operation of asymmetrical six-phase GCIG using indirect field oriented control in different configurations has been carried out in Matlab/Simulink environment.Analytical results have been verified using real time test results on virtual platform of Typhoon HIL supported with some experimental validation.
