Facing with the on-demand collaboration problem among the heterogeneous, autonomous, and dynamic service resources in the Web, service requirements refinement becomes extremely important, and the key issue in service requirements refinement is semantic interoperability aggregation. A method for creating connecting ontologies driven by requirement sign ontology is proposed. Based on connecting ontologies, a method for semantic interoperability aggregation in requirements refinement is proposed. In addition, we discover that the necessary condition for semantic interoperability is semantic similarity, and the sufficient condition is the coverability of the agreed mediation ontology. Based on this viewpoint, a metric framework for calculating semantic interoperability capability is proposed. This methodology can provide a semantic representation mechanism for refining users' requirements; meanwhile, since users' requirements in the Web usually originate from different domains, it can also provide semantic interoperability guidance for networked service discovery, and is an effective approach for the realization of on-demand service integration. The methodology will be beneficial in service-oriented software engineering and cloud computing.展开更多

In this paper, we described the evolution of the AGROVOC thesaurus to AGROVOC Concept Scheme based on OWL (web ontology language) model and now shifting to SKOS (simple knowledge organization system) model. The paper explained why and how it evolved highlighting the key differences between different models. The system architecture and significant set of features available in the VocBench was discussed in the paper.展开更多

While Ontology-Driven Analytic Models offer significant benefits for pension management, there are also challenges associated with implementing and utilizing the models. Developing a comprehensive and accurate ontology for pension management requires a deep understanding of the domain, including regulatory frameworks, investment strategies, retirement planning, and integration of data from heterogenous sources. Integrating these data into a cohesive ontology can be challenging. This research work leverages on semantic ontology as an approach for structured representation of knowledge about concepts and their relationships, and applies it to analyze and optimize decision support for pension management. The proposed ontology presents a formal and explicit specification of concepts (classes), their attributes, and the relationships between them and provides a shared and standardized understanding of the domain;enabling precise communication and knowledge representation for decision-support. The ontology deploys computational frameworks and analytic models to assess and evaluate data, generate insights, predict future pension fund performance as well as assess risk exposure. The research adopts the Reasoner, SPARQL query and OWL Visualizer executed over Java IDE for modelling the ontology-driven analytics. The approach encapsulated and integrated semantic ontologies with analytical models to enhance the accuracy, contextuality, and comprehensiveness of analyses and decisions within pension systems.展开更多

A great deal has been learned over the past 30 years regarding both the intrinsic factors and the environmental factors that regulate axon growth, but this large body of information has not yet resulted in clinically available thera- peutics. This therapeutic bottleneck has many root causes, but a consensus is emerging that one contributing factor is a lack of standards for experi- mental design and reporting. The absence of reporting standards, and even of commonly accepted definitions of key words, also make data mining and bioinformatics analysis of neural plasticity and regeneration difficult, if not impossible. This short review will consider relevant background and poten- tial solutions to this problem in the axon regeneration domain.展开更多
