Analyzing metabolic differences between unperturbed and perturbed networks, such as cancerous and noncancerous samples, can provide insight into underlying disease pathology, disease prognosis and diagnosis. Despite the large number of review articles concerning metabolomics and its application in cancer research, biomarker and drug discovery, these reviews do not focus on a specific type of cancer. Metabolomics may provide biomarkers useful for identification of early stage gastric cancer, potentially addressing an important clinical need. Here, we present a short review on metabolomics as a tool for biomarker discovery in human gastric cancer, with a primary focus on its use as a predictor of anticancer drug chemosensitivity, diagnosis, prognosis, and metastasis.展开更多

Depending on the vector conditions the gravitational fields can be either paragravitational (PGF) or ferrogravitational (FGF). Masses (atoms, nucleons, etc.) emitting PGF manifest so-called attraction to each other. In fact, this process is the pressing of atoms or nucleons to each other by the forces of gravitational “Dark energy”. Namely the gravitational “Dark energy” which is formed between the masses emitting PGF and compressing of nucleons in atomic nuclei is the main force factor determining the formation of nuclear forces. Masses that emit FGF are repelled from PGF sources, for example, from the Earth. The last gravitational manifestation, discovered by the author, this is of the effect of the gravitational levitation. The atomic shell and atomic nucleus are autonomous sources of gravitational field in atomic compositions. The gravitational fields emitted these sources, by its physical parameters, are different gravitational fields, what associated with differences in the magnitudes charges of magnetic and electric particles in their compositions. The noted differences in the parameters of the GF are of reason that in atoms the process of extrusion of foreign gravitational field from the region of given gravitational source is realized. This effect should be called the effect of intra-atomic gravitational shielding (IAGS). Within the framework of this effect the shell of the atom is a kind of gravitational “insulator” that prevents the PGF of the nucleons from leaving beyond of the atom. As result of the IAGS effect, the concentration PGF of nucleons is realized only in the region of the nucleus, which leads to an increase in nuclear forces. However, the resistance of the marked “insulator” is finite and if the critical voltage PGF on the nucleus is exceeded, the complete shielding of展开更多

Particles have properties that uniquely characterize them from one another, such as mass, charge and spin. Charged particles have associated Electric and Magnetic fields. Also, every moving particle has a De Broglie wavelength determined by its mass and velocity. This paper shows that all of these properties of a particle can be derived from a single wave function equation for that particle. Wave functions for the Electron and the Positron are presented and principles are provided that can be used to calculate the wave functions of all the fundamental particles in Physics. Fundamental particles such as electrons and positrons are considered to be point particles in the Standard Model of Physics and are not considered to have a structure. This paper demonstrates that they do indeed have structure and that this structure extends into the space around the particle’s center (in fact, they have infinite extent), but with rapidly diminishing energy density with the distance from that center. The particles are formed from Electromagnetic standing waves, which are stable solutions to the Schrödinger and Classical wave equations. This stable structure therefore accounts for both the wave and particle nature of these particles. In fact, all of their properties such as mass, spin and electric charge, can be accounted for from this structure. These particle properties appear to originate from a single point at the center of the wave function structure, in the same sort of way that the Shell theorem of gravity causes the gravity of a body to appear to all originate from a central point. This paper represents the first two fully characterized fundamental particles, with a complete description of their structure and properties, built up from the underlying Electromagnetic waves that comprise these and all fundamental particles.展开更多

We organize our presentations following the branches of the "academic family tree" rooted on Prof. Bengt U. ? Sonnerup, the inventor of the GS method. Special attentions are paid to validations of the GS reconstruction results via(1) the direct validation by co-spatial in-situ measurements among multiple spacecraft, and(2) indirect validation by implications and interpretations of the physical connection between the structures reconstructed and other related processes. For the latter, the inter-comparison and interconnection between the large-scale magnetic flux ropes(i.e., Magnetic Clouds) in the solar wind and their solar source properties are presented. In addition, we also summarize various GS-type(or-like) reconstruction and an extension of the GS technique to toroidal geometry. In particular,we point to a possible advancement with added complexity of "helical symmetry" and mixed helicity, in the hope of stimulating interest in future development. We close by offering some thoughts on appreciating the scientific merit of GS reconstruction in general.展开更多

Owing to the high sample complexity and low molecular abundance in serum, the detection and profiling of biomarkers rely on efficient extraction by materials and devices, mostly using immunoassays via antibody-antigen recognition. Antibody-free approaches are promising and need to be developed for real-case applications in serum to address the limitations of antibody-based techniques in terms of robustness, expense, and throughput. In this work, we demonstrated a novel approach using hyaluronic acid (HA)-modified materials/devices for the extraction, detection, and profiling of serum biomarkers via ligand-protein interactions. We constructed Fe304@SiOa@HA particles with different sizes through layer-by-layer assembly and for the first time applied HA-functionalized particles in the facile extraction and sequence identification of CD44 in serum by mass spectrometry. We also first validated HA-CD44 binding through electrochemical sensing using HA- modified electrodes in both standard solutions and diluted serum samples, achieving a detection limit of -0.6 ng/mL and a linear response range from I ng/mL to 10 ~tg/mL. Furthermore, we performed profiling of HA-binding serum proteome, providing a new preliminary benchmark for the construction of future databases, and we investigated selected surface chemistries of particles for the capture of proteins in serum. Our work not only resulted in the development of a platform technology for CD44 extraction/detection and HA-binding proteome identification, but also guided the design of ligand affinity-based approaches for antibody-free analysis of serum biomarkers towards diagnostic applications.展开更多

文摘The demand for optical glass has been rapidly increasing in various industries, where an ultra-smooth surface and form accuracy are critical for the functional elements of the applications. To meet the high surface-quality requirements,a polishing process is usually adopted to finish the optical glass surface to ensure an ultra-smooth surface and eliminate sub-surface damage. However, current ultra-precision polishing processes normally polish workpieces individually, leading to a low production efficiency and high polishing costs.Current mass-finishing methods cannot be used for optical glasses.Therefore,magnetic-field-assisted batch polishing(MABP)was proposed in this study to overcome this research gap and provide an efficient and cost-effective method for industrial use.A series of polishing experiments were conducted on typical optical components under different polishing parameters to evaluate the polishing performance of MABP on optical glasses. The results demonstrated that MABP is an efficient method to simultaneously polish multiple lenses while achieving a surface roughness, indicated by the arithmetic mean height(Sa),of 0.7 nm and maintained a sub-micrometer surface form for all the workpieces. In addition,no apparent sub-surface damage was observed, indicating the significant potential for the high-quality rapid polishing of optical glasses. The proposed method is highly competitive compared to the current optical polishing methods, which has the potential to revolutionize the polishing process for small optics.

文摘In this paper, the authors discuss a three-dimensional problem of the semiconductor device type involved its mathematical description, numerical simulation and theoretical analysis. Two important factors, heat and magnetic influences are involved. The mathematical model is formulated by four nonlinear partial differential equations(PDEs),determining four major physical variables. The influences of magnetic fields are supposed to be weak, and the strength is parallel to the z-axis.The elliptic equation is treated by a block-centered method, and the law of conservation is preserved. The computational accuracy is improved one order.Other equations are convection-dominated,thus are approximated by upwind block-centered differences.Upwind difference can eliminate numerical dispersion and nonphysical oscillation. The diffusion is approximated by the block-centered difference, while the convection term is treated by upwind approximation.Furthermore, the unknowns and adjoint functions are computed at the same time. These characters play important roles in numerical computations of conductor device problems.Using the theories of priori analysis such as energy estimates, the principle of duality and mathematical inductions,an optimal estimates result is obtained. Then a composite numerical method is shown for solving this problem.

文摘We review and summarize the applications of the Grad-Shafranov(GS) reconstruction technique to space plasma structures in the Earth's magnetosphere and in the interplanetary space. We close by offering some thoughts on appreciating the scientific merit of GS reconstruction in general.
文摘Serum biomarkers in the form of proteins (e.g. cluster of differentiation-44 (CD44)) have been demonstrated to have high clinical sensitivity and specificity for disease diagnosis and prognosis. Our work not only resulted in the development of a platform technology for CD44 extraction/detection and HA-binding proteome identification, but also guided the design of ligand affinity-based approaches for antibody-free analysis of serum biomarkers towards diagnostic applications.
