It is shown that the main procedure of the design is to solve a so-called second-order generalized Sylvester-observer matrix equation. Based on an explicit parametric solution to this equation, a parametric solution to the normal Luenberger function observer design problem is given. The design degrees of freedom presented by explicit parameters can be further utilized to achieve some additional design requirements.展开更多

An improved method of speed estimation that operates on the principle of speed adaptive flux and current observer has been proposed. An observer is basically an estimator that uses a plant model and a feedback loop with measured stator voltage and current. Simulation results show that the proposed direct field oriented control with the proposed observer provides good performance dynamic characteristics. The induction motor is fed by an indirect power electronics converter. This indirect converter is controlled by a sliding mode technique that enables minimization of harmonics introduced by the line converter, as well as the control of the power factor and DC-link voltage. The robustness of the overall system is studied using simulation for different operating modes and varied parameters.展开更多

By introducing the H2 norm of the transfer function from disturbance to estimation error, sufficient and necessary conditions for disturbance decoupling in matrix second-order linear systems are established and are arranged into constraints on the design parameters via Luenberger function observers in terms of the closed-loop eigenvalues and the group of design parameters provided by the eigenstructure assignment approach. Therefore, the disturbance decoupling problem is converted into an eigenstructure assignment problem with extra parameter constraints. A simple example is investigated to show the effect and simplicity of the approach.展开更多

Complete development of observer-based controls is presented for a bioprocess. Controllers using input-output feedback linearization and backstepping techniques are designed first, assuming that all states are available for feedback. Next, the construction of observer in the transformed domain is presented based on input-output feedback linearization. This approach is then extended to observer design based on backstepping approach using the error equation resulted from the backstepping design procedure. Simulation results demonstrating the effectiveness of the techniques developed are presented and compared.展开更多

By introducing the concept of stable matrix pair for MSOL systems, sufficient and necessary conditions for the design of the type of generalized Luenberger observers were given under the assumption of controllability and observability of the MSOL system. Based on the proposed conditions and the right coprime factorization of the system, a parametric approach to the design of such type of observers was presented. The proposed approach provides all the degrees of design freedom, which can be further utilized to achieve additional system specifications. A spring-mass system was utilized to show the effect of the proposed method.展开更多

Results indicate that (1) China's industrial environmental TFP increased between 2001 and 2007 but declined in 2008 under the effect of global financial crisis; (2) input utilization productivity contributes 1/3 to industrial environmental TFP and pollution treatment productivity contributes about 2/3, which means that pollution treatment will effectively increase industrial environmental TFP; (3) capital utilization productivity contributes I/6 to input productivity and labor utilization productivity contributes about 5/6, which means that progress of labor production technologies is an effective means to increase industrial environmental TFP; (4) COD treatment productivity contributes roughly 2/3 to pollution treatment productivity, and S02 treatment productivity contributes about 1/3, which shows that priority on COD treatment will more effectively increase industrial environmental TFP.展开更多
