Objective:To identify three common genes(bla_(TEM),bla_(SHV)and bla_(CTX-M)responsible for ESBL production in Klebsiella pneumnniae(K.pneumnniae)isolated from Intensive Care Units of Namazi Hospital,Shiraz,Iran.Method...Objective:To identify three common genes(bla_(TEM),bla_(SHV)and bla_(CTX-M)responsible for ESBL production in Klebsiella pneumnniae(K.pneumnniae)isolated from Intensive Care Units of Namazi Hospital,Shiraz,Iran.Methods:A total of 60 non-repetitive nosocomial isolates from 60patients were selected during 2009-2010.The phenotypic identification of ESBL production was confirmed by Double Disk Synergy Test(DDST)according to CLSI guidelines.The ESBL's genotype was then analyzed by multiplex PCR of bla_(TEM),bla_(SHV)and bla_(CTX-M)genes and DNA sequencing.Results:The primary susceptibility tests of K.pneumoniae showed that among 10 examined antibiotics,the most resistant and susceptible antibiotics identified in this study were ampicillin and imipenem,respectively.The phenotypic determination of ESBL by DDST showed that 60%(n=36)of isolates produced ESBL.Multiplex PCR of genes among K.pneuunoniae isolates showed that 39%(n=18)of them have TEM,39%in=18)of then have both CTX-M and TEM and 13%(n=8)of them have TEM,SHV,CTX-M.Conclusions:Our findings reveal the high prevalence(60%)of ESBL prcxducing K.pneumnniae from ICL patients along with a new pattern of bla_(TEM)distribution differ from other countries.展开更多
Numerous types of research on healthcare monitoring systems have been conducted for calculating heart rate,ECG,nasal/oral airflow,temperature,light sensor,and fall detection sensor.Different researchers have done diff...Numerous types of research on healthcare monitoring systems have been conducted for calculating heart rate,ECG,nasal/oral airflow,temperature,light sensor,and fall detection sensor.Different researchers have done different work in the field of health monitoring with sensor networks.Different researchers used built-in apps,such as some used a small number of parameters,while some other studies used more than one microcontroller and used senders and receivers among the microcontrollers to communicate,and outdated tools for study development.While no efficient,cheap,and updated work is proposed in the field of sensor-based health monitoring systems.Therefore,this study developed an android-based mobile system that can remotely monitor electrocardiograms(ECGs),pulse oximetry,heart rate,and body temperature.The microcontroller’s Wi-Fi device is used to manage wireless data transport.The findings of the patient are saved on the Firebase server for further usage in the mobile app.The performance of the proposed device is tested on ten numbers of different patients age-wise in terms of beats per minute(BPM),ECG,Temperature,and SpO2.This system uses temperature,pulse,ECG,blood pressure,and eye blink sensors.This device makes the usage of a tiny pulse sensor that has been designed to provide an accurate and optimal readout of the pulse rate and a temperature sensor is also included.With the help of an MCU,our system measures the pulse rate in beats per minute(bpm),blood oxygen level temperature measurements,and ECG readings and communicates this information to the Firebase server.To check the performance of the proposed system first,the BPM parameter was checked on the cardiac monitor.Then,the proposed model is tested on different patients age-wise.The simulation result shows that the BPM reading is not much different than the BPM of the cardiac monitor.According to the simulation findings,the proposed model achieved the best performance as compared to commercially available devices.展开更多

METHODS: I...AIM: To explore the effect of Astraga/us mongholicus polysaccharide (APS) on gene expression and mitogenactivated protein kinase (MAPK) transcriptional activity in intestinal epithelial cells (IEC). METHODS: IEC were divided into control group, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) group, LPS+ 50 μg/mL APS group, LPS+ 100 μg/mL APS group, LPS+ 200 μg/mL APS group, and LPS+ 500 μg/mL APS group. Levels of mRNAs in LPS-induced inflammatory factors, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and interleukin (IL)-8, were measured by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. MAPK protein level was measured by Western blotting. RESULTS: The levels of TNF-α and IL-8 mRNAs were significantly higher in IEC with LPS-induced damage than in control cells. APS significantly abrogated the LPS-induced expression of the TNF-α and IL-8 genes. APS did not block the activation of extracellular signal- regulated kinase or c Jun amino-terminal kinase, but inhibited the activation of p38, suggesting that APS inhibits LPS-induced production of TNF-α and IL-8 mRNAs, possibly by suppressing the p38 signaling pathway.CONCLUSION: APS-modulated bacterial productmediated p38 signaling represents an attractive strategy for prevention and treatment of intestinal inflammation.展开更多
