The enhancement of system signal to noise ratio(SNR) and reduction of temperature measurement error provided by coding are characterized. By using 16-bit Golay coding, SNR can be improved by about 2.77 d B, and temperature measurement error of the 100 m heated fiber is reduced from 1.4 °C to 0.5 °C with a spatial resolution of 13 m. The results are believed to be beneficial for the performance improvement of self-heterodyne detection Brillouin optical time domain reflectometer.展开更多

However, there is n...Rice yellow mottle is considered the most destructive disease threatening rice production in Africa. Early detection of this infection in rice is essential to limit its expansion and proliferation. However, there is no research devoted to the spectral detection of rice yellow mottle virus (RYMV) infection, especially in the asymptomatic or early stages. This work proposes the use of hyperspectral fluorescence and reflectance data at leaf level for the detection of this disease in asymptomatic stages. A greenhouse experiment was therefore conducted to collect hyperspectral fluorescence and reflectance data at different stages of infection. These data allowed to calculate nine vegetation indices: one from fluorescence spectra and eight from reflectance spectra. A t-test made it possible to identify, from the second day after infection, four relevant reflectance vegetation indices to discriminate healthy leaves from those infected: these are Photochemical Reflectance Index (PRI), Transformed Chlorophyll Absorption in Reflectance Index (TCARI), Structure Intensive Pigment Index (SIPI) and Simple Ratio Pigment Index (SRPI). The fluorescence index was less sensitive in detecting infection. The four significant vegetation indices for the detection of RYMV were then used to build and evaluate models for discriminating plants according to their health status by the supervised classification of support vector machine (SVM) at different stages of infection. The maximum overall accuracy is 92.5% six days after inoculation (6 DAI). The sixth day after inoculation would be the adequate day to detect RYMV. This plants discrimination was validated by the mean reflectance spectra and by the histograms showing the differences between the average reflectance vegetation indices values of the two types of plants. Our results demonstrate the feasibility of differentiating RYMV-infected samples. With the aid of Riemann–Liouville fractional calculus theory,fractional order Savitzky–Golay differentiation(FOSGD) is calculated and applied to pretreat near infrared(NIR) spectra in order to improve the perfor...With the aid of Riemann–Liouville fractional calculus theory,fractional order Savitzky–Golay differentiation(FOSGD) is calculated and applied to pretreat near infrared(NIR) spectra in order to improve the performance of multivariate calibrations.Similar to integral order Savitzky–Golay differentiation(IOSGD),FOSGD is obtained by fitting a spectral curve in a moving window with a polynomial function to estimate its coefficients and then carrying out the weighted average of the spectral curve in the window with the coefficients.Three NIR datasets including diesel,wheat and corn datasets were utilized to test this method.The results showed that FOSGD,which is easy to compute,is a general method to obtain Savitzky–Golay smoothing,fractional order and integral order differentiations.Fractional order differentiation computation to the NIR spectra often improves the performance of the PLS model with smaller RMSECV and RMSEP than integral order ones,especially for physical properties of interest,such as density,cetane number and hardness.展开更多
In this Letter,we report a Golay3 sparse-aperture telescope newly built in the Key Laboratory of Optical Engineering,Chinese Academy of Sciences and present the experimental results of enhanced resolution.The telescop...In this Letter,we report a Golay3 sparse-aperture telescope newly built in the Key Laboratory of Optical Engineering,Chinese Academy of Sciences and present the experimental results of enhanced resolution.The telescope consisting of 3 collector telescopes of 127 mm diameter can achieve a theoretical resolution corresponding to a monolithic aperture of 245 mm diameter.It is shown by the experimental results that the resolution is improved to 3.33μrad with respect to the diffraction limit of 6.07μrad for a single aperture using the Rayleigh criteria at 632 nm.The compact optical configuration and cophasing approach are also described.展开更多
Human speech indirectly represents the mental state or emotion of others.The use of Artificial Intelligence(AI)-based techniques may bring revolution in this modern era by recognizing emotion from speech.In this study...Human speech indirectly represents the mental state or emotion of others.The use of Artificial Intelligence(AI)-based techniques may bring revolution in this modern era by recognizing emotion from speech.In this study,we introduced a robust method for emotion recognition from human speech using a well-performed preprocessing technique together with the deep learning-based mixed model consisting of Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)and Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).About 2800 audio files were extracted from the Toronto emotional speech set(TESS)database for this study.A high pass and Savitzky Golay Filter have been used to obtain noise-free as well as smooth audio data.A total of seven types of emotions;Angry,Disgust,Fear,Happy,Neutral,Pleasant-surprise,and Sad were used in this study.Energy,Fundamental frequency,and Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient(MFCC)have been used to extract the emotion features,and these features resulted in 97.5%accuracy in the mixed LSTM+CNN model.This mixed model is found to be performed better than the usual state-of-the-art models in emotion recognition from speech.It also indicates that this mixed model could be effectively utilized in advanced research dealing with sound processing.展开更多

A new synchronous training sequence based on the golay pair with guard interval is designed in GPATS method. By utilizing the unique properties of the new training sequence, the different timing point and the inter-transmitter delays(ITD) are obtained at the receiver. Simulation results show that, compared with the traditional synchronization approaches, the proposed algorithm can provide high accuracy in detecting different time offsets caused by the distributed transmitters of the MIMO-OFDM system, especially over multipath and low SNR channels.展开更多

提出了在直接检测光正交频分复用(DD-O-OFDM,direct detection-optical-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing)传输系统中使用格雷对训练序列做定时同步算法。新算法利用格雷对的非周期自相关互补特性处理双滑动窗内的信号,获取...提出了在直接检测光正交频分复用(DD-O-OFDM,direct detection-optical-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing)传输系统中使用格雷对训练序列做定时同步算法。新算法利用格雷对的非周期自相关互补特性处理双滑动窗内的信号,获取信号能量;通过设计符号定时函数对信号能量进行处理,使得在获取信号能量的同时定时测量函数达到最大值,从而得到准确的符号定时点。实验统计表明,在DD-O-OFDM系统下,经200km标准单模光纤(SSMF,standard single mode fiber),以1.5Gbit/s的速率传输后,本文算法在接收端能准确地捕获定时点,获得很高的捕获率,且比其它算法有更低的时偏均值及均方误差(MSE)。当接收功率低于-36dBm时,新算法仍然能够获得最小的定时估计均值和MSE,而其它算法性能明显下降。同时,在低于-40dBm的接收功率情况下,新算法仍能准确地捕获定时点,降低了同步算法对色散的敏感度。展开更多
