Dyspepsia is known to result from organic causes, but the majority of patients suffer from non-ulcer or functional dyspepsia. Epidemiological data from population-based studies of various geographical locations have been reviewed, as they provide more realistic information. Population-based studies on true functional dyspepsia (FD) are few, due to the logistic difficulties of excluding structural disease in large numbers of people. Globally, the prevalence of uninvestigated dyspepsia (UD) varies between 7%- 45%, depending on definition used and geographical location, whilst the prevalence of FD has been noted to vary between 11%-29.2%. Risk factors for FD have been shown to include females and underlying psychological disturbances, whilst environmental/lifestyle habits such as poor socio-economic status, smoking, increased caffeine intake and ingestion of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs appear to be more relevant to UD. It is clear that dyspepsia and FD in particular are common conditions globally, affecting most populations, regardless of location.展开更多

The eco-environmental vulnerability distribution and its changes over the ten years from 1990 to 2000 were analyzed and the driving factors of eco-environmental changes were investigated. The results show that the eco-environmental vulnerability in the study area was at medium level, and the eco-environmental quality had been gradually improved on the whole. However, the eco-environmental quality had become worse over the ten years in some regions. In the study area, population growth, vegetation degradation, and governmental policies for eco-environmental protection were found to be the major factors that caused the eco-environmental changes over the ten years.展开更多

The main purpose of this article is to apply and verify earthquake-triggered landslide hazard analysis techniques by using weight of evidence modeling in Qingshui (清水) River watershed, Deyang (德阳) City, Sichuan (四川) Province, China. Two thousand three hundred and twenty-one landslides were interpreted in the study area from aerial photographs and multi-source remote sensing imageries post-earthquake, verified by field surveys. The landslide inventory in the study area was established. A spatial database, including landslides and associated controlling parameters that may have influence on the occurrence of landslides, was constructed from topographic maps, geological maps, and enhanced thematic mapper (ETM+) remote sensing imageries. The factors that influence landslide occurrence, such as slope angle, aspect, curvature, elevation, flow accumulation, distance from drainages, and distance from roads were calculated from the topographic maps. Lithology, distance from seismogenic fault, distance from all faults, and distance from stratigraphic boundaries were derived from the geological maps. Normalized difference vegetation index (NDV1) was extracted from ETM+ images. Seismic intensity zoning was collected from Wenchuan (汶川) Ms8.0 Earthquake Intensity Distribution Map published by the China Earthquake Administration.Landslide hazard indices were calculated using the weight of evidence model, and landslide hazard maps were calculated from using different controlling parameters cases. The hazard map was compared with known landslide locations and verified. The success accuracy percentage of using all 13 controlling parameters was 71.82%. The resulting landslide hazard map showed five classes of landslide hazard, i.e., very high, high, moderate, low, and very low. The validation results showed satisfactory agreement between the hazard map and the existing landslides distribution data.展开更多

The geographical and climatic comparison between the two data-sets indicated that the climate threshold of most pollen taxa from surface pollen is coherent with plant distributions. The climatic envelopes of dominant plant are mostly accordant with those of pollen taxa at certain levels. However, some distinct offsets of the climate ranges exist between the two datasets for most pollen taxa identified at family level, such as Ericaceae,Asteraceae, Poaceae and Chenopodiaceae. The present study provides for the first time rich information on temperature and precipitation in relation to pollen and plant distribution based on the datasets on a continental scale useful for global ecological modeling and Quaternary palaeoclimate reconstruction.展开更多

Dry and wet HW events were compared by different definitions. Regionally, both dry and wet HW events are commonly located in southeastern China in the monsoon area, with neither type occurring in the northeast part of Northeast China and Southwest China, while the north-northwest region of the country experiences dry HW events and a few wet HW events. In the southeast of the country, site dry HW events occurred from April to September and mostly in June, while site wet HW events occurred from April to October and mostly in September. In total, 163 regional wet HW events were identified. The ten longest regional wet HW events lasted for more than 20 days, while the mean duration for 163 events was about 11 days. For the top ten events, six occurred after the 1990s, compared with four before this time. Global surface warming was clear since 1979, but the frequency and severity of regional wet HW events were relatively low in the 1980s, increasing remarkably since the 1990s. Possible reasons for this might be the strong interdecadal and interannual variations in regional atmospheric circulations, as well as water transport related directly to temperature contrasts in different regions, rather than global-mean temperature changes.展开更多

For the image classification process to be successfully, several factors should be considered including availability of quality Landsat imagery and secondary data, a precise classification process and user’s experiences and expertise of the procedures. The objective of this research was to classify and map land-use/land-cover of the study area using remote sensing and Geospatial Information System (GIS) techniques. This research includes two sections (1) Landuse/Landcover (LULC) classification and (2) accuracy assessment. In this study supervised classification was performed using Non Parametric Rule. The major LULC classified were agriculture (65.0%), water body (4.0%), and built up areas (18.3%), mixed forest (5.2%), shrubs (7.0%), and Barren/bare land (0.5%). The study had an overall classification accuracy of 81.7% and kappa coefficient (K) of 0.722. The kappa coefficient is rated as substantial and hence the classified image found to be fit for further research. This study present essential source of information whereby planners and decision makers can use to sustainably plan the environment.展开更多

East Asia is the region with the world's first and largest current operating and planned HSR network. In this paper, we examine the evolutionary mechanism and impacts on the transport circle and accessibility of HSR in East Asia. The results indicate that the HSR network first follows a "core-core" model and then forms a corridor in Japan, South Korea, and China Taiwan, but then forms a complete network in China Mainland. The current operating HSR lines are mostly distributed in regions with developed economies and dense populations, and more than half of the population and GDP in China can be served by HSR within 1 hour's travel time. The planned HSR network will expand to the western region of China and Japan and the southern region of South Korea. The development of the current operating and planned HSR network considerably enlarges the transport circle of core cities, especially cities along trunk HSR lines. This 1 h transport circle of core cities has formed continuous regions in the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, Tokyo, Seoul, and along trunk HSR lines. The HSR network will bring about substantial improvement in accessiblity, but also increase the inequality of nodal accessibility in China Mainland. Spatially, the spatial patterns of the weighted shortest travel time of cities in China Mainland, Japan, and South Korea all present the "core-peripheral structure", taking Zhengzhou, Tokyo, and Seoul, respectively, as core cities, and cities located along the trunk HSR lines gain large improvement in accessibility.展开更多

Two hundred and sixty-four AFLP loci were analysed in 195 individuals and revealed high levels of genetic diversity. The percentage of polymorphic loci ranged from 92.13% to 96.06% and the Shannon' s information index was from 0.256 8 to 0. 275 6. By analyzing molecular variance ( AMOVA), it was found that there were high levels of genetic differentiation between populations of Qingdao and the other three sea areas. Cluster analysis by Nei' s pairwise distances grouped specimens by geographical origin, except the population of Qingdao. A conclusion can be drawn that there are high genetic diversities in the four natural populations of Manila clam in China and some distinct differences existed among and between the four populations. The results also indicated that human cultivation activities will have great influence on the genetic structure of the population of Qingdao.展开更多

In this study, we sequenced 16 S rRNA genes to assess the effects of four long-term fertilization regimes—non-fertilization(NoF), chemical fertilizer(CF), manure(M), and chemical fertilizer plus manure(CFM)—on soil properties and bacterial communities in three locations, the northern, middle, and southern parts, across the black soil region. Results showed that the influence of fertilization regimes on soil properties varied significantly among the three locations. Manure fertilization significantly increased microbial biomass carbon and relative abundance of copiotrophic bacteria. Principal component analysis(PCA)showed that the total bacterial communities were separated into three groups according to the sampling location despite long-term fertilization, and that soil pH was the most important factor in shifting bacterial communities. In addition, similar fertilization regimes resulted in different influences on bacterial community composition, and the most influential soil properties varied among the three locations. Our results highlighted that geographical separation was a more dominant factor affecting bacterial communities than fertilization, and that long-term similar fertilization regimes did not induce consistent changes in bacterial community composition in the black soil region.展开更多

文摘The amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) technology was used to analyze the genetic diversities in four natural populations of Manila clam ( Ruditapes philippinarum), distributed in four sea areas of China, i.e. , the Bohai Sea, the Huanghai Sea, the East China Sea and the South China Sea. The results also indicated that human cultivation activities will have great influence on the genetic structure of the population of Qingdao.

文摘The discipline of geography encompasses both natural and social sciences and has the natural advantage of enabling the study of sustainability from a transdisciplinary perspective. There are great opportunities for geographers to participate in sustainability research. However, while geographers have set sustainability goals, they have rarely clarified the details for reaching those goals.Current knowledge on the relationship between humans and the environment and the methodologies for studying this relationship are inadequate to solve the transdisciplinary questions in sustainability science.Five research areas:geographical processes;ecosystem services and human wellbeing;human-environmental systems;sustainable development;and geo-data and modelling for sustainability are proposed as those needed to help geography achieve sustainability. The key objective of promoting geography for sustainability is to reveal the mechanisms of human-environmental system dynamics. This depends on understanding the processes in the natural and social systems and their mutual feedback as well as clarifying the relationships between the structures, functional characteristics and interactions in the human-environmental systems at multiple scales. The advancement of geography and its methodologies and technologies will provide a more profound understanding of the future.Geographers have the responsibility of promoting the discipline as the key pathway for carrying natural and social sciences towards sustainability.

文摘Although soil bacteria play critical roles in agro-ecosystems, the knowledge of their response to long-term fertilization across the black soil region of Northeast China is limited. Our results highlighted that geographical separation was a more dominant factor affecting bacterial communities than fertilization, and that long-term similar fertilization regimes did not induce consistent changes in bacterial community composition in the black soil region.

文摘Drug-induced liver injury(DILI)is a type of bizarre adverse drug reaction(ADR)damaging liver(L-ADR)which may lead to substantial hospitalizations and mortality.Due to the general low incidence, detection of L-ADR remains an unsolved public health challenge. Therefore,we used the data of 6.673 million of ADR reports from January 1st,2012 to December 31st,2016 in China National ADR Monitoring System to establish a new database of L-ADR reports for future investigation. Results showed that totally 114,357 ADR reports were retrieved by keywords searching of liver-related injuries from the original heterogeneous system.By cleaning and standardizing the data fields by the dictionary of synonyms and English translation,we resulted 94,593 ADR records reported to liver injury and then created a new database ready for computer mining. The reporting status of L-ADR showed a persistent 1.62-fold change over the past five years. The national population-adjusted reporting numbers of L-ADR manifested an upward trend with age increasing and more evident in men.The annual reporting rate of L-ADR in age group over 80 years old strikingly exceeded the annual DILI incidence rate in general population, despite known underreporting situation in spontaneous ADR reporting system. The percentage of herbal and traditional medicines(H/TM)L-ADR reports in the whole number was 4.5%,while 80.60%of the H/TM reports were new findings. There was great geographical disparity of reported agents,i.e.more cardiovascular and antineoplastic agents were reported in higher socio-demographic index(SDI)regions and more antimicrobials, especially antitubercular agents, were reported in lower SDI regions. In conclusion, this study presented a large-scale,unbiased,unified,and computer-minable L-ADR database for further investigation.Age-,sex-and SDI-related risks of L-ADR incidence warrant to emphasize the precise pharmacovigilance policies within China or other regions in the world.
