The gamma-ray energy range is from 1 MeV to 111 MeV. It is a powerful and hopeful researchplatform to reveal the underlying physics of the nuclear, the basic particles and the vacuum or to check the exist basic physical models, quantumelectrodynamic (QED) theories. In the platform, a 1.064 mm Nd:YAG laser system and a 10.6 mm CO_(2) laser system are employed. All the triggersignals to the laser system and the electron control system are from the only reference clock at the very beginning of the LINAC to make sure thetemporal synchronization. Two optical transition radiation (OTR) targets and two charged-couple devices (CCD) are used to monitor and to alignthe electron beam and the laser beam. With the LCS gamma-ray source, it is proposed to experimentally check the gamma-ray calibrations, thephoton-nuclear physics, nuclear astrophysics and some basic QED phenomena.展开更多

An error control coding scheme based on low density parity check(LDPC) codes with soft decision decoding algorithm is proposed to improve the bit-error-rate(BER) performance of an on-off keying(OOK) modulated THz signal through atmospheric channel. The THz wave propagation characteristics and channel model in atmosphere is set up. Numerical simulations validate the great performance of LDPC codes against the atmospheric fading and demonstrate the huge potential in future ultra-high speed beyond Gbps THz communications.展开更多

Under identically or non-identically distributed branches, the analytical expressions for the bit error rate function of signal-to-noise are derived by expressing the modified Bessel function of second kind with Meijer G-function for dualand triple-branch systems, respectively. In terms of H-fox function, the new expressions have more general forms and are more efficient for computation. It is found that the dual-and triple-branch systems significantly outperform the direct link system under weak, moderate and strong turbulence conditions. Monte Carlo simulation is also provided to confirm the accuracy of the proposed model.展开更多

Channel coding and diversity techniques are commonly used to combat channel fading induced by atmospheric turbulence. In this paper, we present the generalized block Markov superposition transmission(GBMST) of repetition codes to improve time diversity. In the GBMST scheme, information sub-blocks are transmitted in the block Markov superposition manner, with possibly different transmission memories. Based on analyzing an equivalent system, a lower bound on the bit-error-rate(BER) of the proposed scheme is presented. Simulation results demonstrate that, under a wide range of turbulence conditions, the proposed scheme improves diversity gain with only a slight reduction of transmission rate. In particular, with encoding memory sequence(0, 0, 8) and transmission rate 1/3, a diversity order of eleven is achieved under moderate turbulence conditions. Numerical results also show that, the GBMST systems with appropriate settings can approach the derived lower bound, implying that full diversity is achievable.展开更多
