They f...Glucagon-like peptide1 (GLP-1) is secreted from Langerhans cells in response to oral nutrient intake. Glucagon- like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) are a new class of incretin-based anti-diabetic drugs. They function to stimulate insulin secretion while suppressing glucagon secretion. GLP-1-based therapies are now well established in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and recent literature has suggested potential applications of these drugs in the treatment of obesity and for protection against cardiovascular and neurological diseases. As we know, along with change in lifestyles, the prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in China is rising more than that of viral hepatitis and alcoholic fatty liver disease, and NAFLD has become the most common chronic liver disease in recent years. Recent studies further suggest that GLP-1RAs can reduce transaminase levels to improve NAFLD by improving blood lipid levels, cutting down the fat content to promote fat redistribution, directly decreasing fatty degeneration of the liver, reducing the degree of liver fibrosis and improving inflammation. This review shows the NAFLD-associated effects of GLP-1RAs in animal models and in patients with T2DM or obesity who are participants in clinical trials. (C) 2014 Baishideng Publishing Group Inc. Objective: To observe the therapeutic efficacy of Fu's subcutaneous needling(FSN) in treating scapulohumeral periarthritis(SP).Methods: Eighty patients with SP were randomly divided into an observation group an...Objective: To observe the therapeutic efficacy of Fu's subcutaneous needling(FSN) in treating scapulohumeral periarthritis(SP).Methods: Eighty patients with SP were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 40 cases in each group. Patients in the observation group received FSN treatment while those in the control group received conventional acupuncture treatment. Visual analogue scale(VAS) and range of motion(ROM) were observed before and after the treatment, and the therapeutic efficacy was also evaluated.Results: After the treatment, the VAS scores decreased significantly in the two groups, and the VAS score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P〈0.01). After the treatment, the ROM increased significantly in both groups(both P〈0.01), and the ROM in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P〈0.01). The recovery rate and the total effective rate in the observation group were respectively 40.0% and 95.0%,significantly higher than 12.5% and 77.5% in the control group(P〈0.01, P〈0.05).Conclusion: FSN can effectively relieve pain and improve the joint motion in treating SP, thus offering a novel option to the treatment of this kind of musculoskeletal disorder.展开更多

Objective To explore the potential molecular targets of Cang Fu Dao Tan Formula(CFDTF)in the treatment of obese polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)using network pharmacology and bioinformatic approaches.Methods The potent...Objective To explore the potential molecular targets of Cang Fu Dao Tan Formula(CFDTF)in the treatment of obese polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)using network pharmacology and bioinformatic approaches.Methods The potential blood-entry active compounds and targets of CFDTF were retrieved from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform(TCMSP),and obese PCOS related gene targets were retrieved from GeneCard databases.A protein-protein interaction(PPI)network of CFDTF component-targets and obese PCOS diseasetargets was constructed using STRING.Gene Ontology(GO)and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway analysis of the intersection network were conducted using a Bioconductor database.Results In total,114 active compounds were screened according to oral bioavailability(OB)and drug similarity(DL),and 328 targets related to these constituents were obtained.Further,2559 target genes directly related to obese PCOS were obtained from the GeneCard databases,and 82 genes were obtained from the intersection of the component-target and disease-target PPI network.These genes were mainly involved in response to steroid hormones,nutrient levels and lipopolysaccharide as well as in other biological processes.Their molecular functions were mainly related to nuclear receptor activity,phosphatase binding and cytokine activity,and they were enriched in the cytoplasm,cell membrane and membrane region.Conclusions CFDTF consists of 114 active compounds that are responsible for its pharmacodynamic effects.It mainly regulates the AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications,bladder cancer,and hepatitis B and in other signaling networks.These findings provide certain theoretical and scientific basis for the treatment of obese PCOS with Chinese medicine.展开更多
