In the present paper,by extending some fractional calculus to the framework of Clifford analysis,new classes of wavelet functions are presented.Firstly,some classes of monogenic polynomials are provided based on 2-parameters weight functions which extend the classical Jacobi ones in the context of Clifford analysis.The discovered polynomial sets are next applied to introduce new wavelet functions.Reconstruction formula as well as Fourier-Plancherel rules have been proved.The main tool reposes on the extension of fractional derivatives,fractional integrals and fractional Fourier transforms to Clifford analysis. 展开更多

A 3-D nonlinear problem of supercavitating flow past an axisymmetric body at a small angle of attack is investigated by means of the perturbation method and Fourier-cosine-expansion method. The first three order perturbation equations are derived in detail and solved numerically using the boundary integral equation method and iterative techniques. Computational results of the hydrodynamic characteristics and cavity shapes of each order are presented for nonaxisymmetric supercavitating flow past cones with various apex-angles at differ- ent cavitation numbers. The numerical results are found in good agreement with experimental data. 展开更多

Spurious Solutions in the Multiband Effective Mass Theory Applied to Low Dimensional Nanostructures

In this paper we analyze a long standing problem of the appearance of spurious,non-physical solutions arising in the application of the effective mass theory to low dimensional nanostructures.The theory results in a system of coupled eigenvalue PDEs that is usually supplemented by interface boundary conditions that can be derived from a variational formulation of the problem.We analyze such a system for the envelope functions and show that a failure to restrict their Fourier expansion coeffi-cients to small k components would lead to the appearance of non-physical solutions.We survey the existing methodologies to eliminate this difficulty and propose a simple and effective solution.This solution is demonstrated on an example of a two-band model for both bulk materials and low-dimensional nanostructures.Finally,based on the above requirement of small k,we derive a model for nanostructures with cylindrical symmetry and apply the developed model to the analysis of quantum dots using an eight-band model. 展开更多

In this article we show that the order of the point value, in the sense of Lojasiewicz, of a tempered distribution and the order of summability of the pointwise Fourier inversion formula are closely related. Assuming that the order of the point values and certain order of growth at infinity are given for a tempered distribution, we estimate the order of summability of the Fourier inversion formula. For Fourier series, and in other cases, it is shown that if the distribution has a distributional point value of order k, then its Fourier series is e.v. Cesaro summable to the distributional point value of order k+1. Conversely, we also show that if the pointwise Fourier inversion formula is e.v. Cesaro summable of order k, then the distribution is the (k + 1)-th derivative of a locally integrable function, and the distribution has a distributional point value of order k + 2. We also establish connections between orders of summability and local behavior for other Fourier inversion problems. 展开更多

We prove the boundedness from Lp(T2) to itself, 1 〈 p 〈∞, of highly oscillatory singular integrals Sf(x, y) presenting singularities of the kind of the double Hilbert transform on a non-rectangular domain of integration, roughly speaking, defined by |y′| 〉 |x′|, and presenting phases λ(Ax + By) with 0≤ A, B ≤ 1 and λ≥ 0. The norms of these oscillatory singular integrals are proved to be independent of all parameters A1 B and A involved. Our method extends to a more general family of phases. These results are relevant to problems of almost everywhere convergence of double Fourier and Walsh series. 展开更多
