Suitable functions for displacements and rotations for each node have been...A new displacement based higher order element has been formulated that is ideally suitable for shear deformable composite and sandwich plates. Suitable functions for displacements and rotations for each node have been selected so that the element shows rapid convergence, an excellent response against transverse shear loading and requires no shear correction factors. It is completely lock-free and behaves extremely well for thin to thick plates. To make the element rapidly convergent and to capture warping effects for composites, higher order displacement terms in the displacement kinematics have been considered for each node. The element has eleven degrees of freedom per node. Shear deformation has also been considered in the formulation by taking into account shear strains ( rxz and ryz) as nodal unknowns. The element is very simple to formulate and could be coded up in research software. A small Fortran code has been developed to implement the element and various examples of isotropic and composite plates have been analyzed to show the effectiveness of the element.展开更多
This article is devoted to the study of one of the most important questions of philology—translation which throughout its centuries-long and rich history has been considered a sphere of philological activity of utmos...This article is devoted to the study of one of the most important questions of philology—translation which throughout its centuries-long and rich history has been considered a sphere of philological activity of utmost significance providing an exceptional possibility for recoding and bringing philological and cultural traditions within the reach of people at large.Through the application of a variety of methods(linguo-stylistic,linguo-poetic,and comparative),the author attempts to study the process of translation,the clash of difficulties inevitably arising in that process,and offers solutions that will help recreate the vitality of the original and the uniqueness of linguistic thinking.Emphasis on the importance of the consideration of intra-and inter-linguistic correlations of language units in the original work of literature drives the author to the conclusion that the most reliable approach to literary translation is to be guided by the principle of“metaphoric displacement”.展开更多
We introduce a method of integrating Global Positioning System(GPS)and accelerometer data for high-rate seismogeodesy.This method is based on the GPS variometric approach which can obtain seismic waves in real time us...We introduce a method of integrating Global Positioning System(GPS)and accelerometer data for high-rate seismogeodesy.This method is based on the GPS variometric approach which can obtain seismic waves in real time using only the readily available broadcast products and a single receiver.Collocated 5 Hz GPS and 200 Hz accelerometer data from the 2010 M_(W) 7.2 EI Mayor-Cucapaph earthquake were analyzed to verify the effectiveness of this method.Results reveal that this method can provide broadband and more accurate displacements qualified to avoid the baseline drifting caused by strong motion.Moreover,this method can effectively avoid the aliasing problem present in the 5-Hz GPS waveforms.We therefore conclude that this method can be a powerful tool to capture seismic waves in real time,which is crucial to tsunami early warning and earthquake rapid response.展开更多
