Methods Five databases (CBM, CNKI, Wanfang Database, VlP Database, and PubMed) were searched to identify relevant studies published before June 2027. The outcomes were resumption of menstruation and serum levels of testosterone (T). The methodological quality of the included studies was judged using the Cochrane risk of bias tool. The overall level of evidence was judged by the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) criteria. Results Twenty- five randomized controlled trials were included. ACE therapy significantly lowered serum T levels, and patients receiving ACE treatment reported resumption of menstruation. However, these results should be interpreted with caution due to a high risk of randomization and blinding bias, and likely publication bias. The level of evidence for resumption of menstruation and serum T levels was assessed as "low" and "low", respectively, using GRADE. Conclusion The current evidence on ACE therapy for PCOS is insufficient to draw firm conclusions due to the poor methodological quality. Future well- designed trials are needed to validate the therapeutic efficacy, safety, and mechanisms of ACE in patients with PCOS.展开更多

Methods: Following the theory of Chinese medicine (CM), pattern identification (PI) and treatment was based on the patient's symptoms and signs. Patients were observed during three courses and one year following treatment through self-comparison before and after six or seven acupoints catgut implantation. Obesity was divided into five types based on PI: (1) Stomach (Wei) and Intestine excess-heat, (2) Spleen (Pi) deficiency and phlegm- wet stagnancy, (3) Liver (Gan)-qi stagnation, (4) Spleen-Kidney (Shen) yang deficiency, and (5) Liver-Kidney yin deficiency. Changes in the following measurements were recorded in 820 patients: body weight, body girth, skin- fold thickness, body mass index (BMI), fat percentage (F%) and waist/hip ratio (WHR) and in the following blood values: leptin (LP), insulin (INS), blood lipids, fasting blood sugar (FBS), and insulin sensitive index (ISI) before and after the treatment. Values were compared with those of healthy controls (normal group). Results: Catgut implantation showed efficacy with all five types of obesity. Efficacy was greater in males than in females. There was no significant difference between the different types by Kruskal-Wallis H test, but the effect was best and of the highest number in patients with Stomach and Intestine excess-heat. Skin-fold thickness, body weight, waist circumference, F%, BMI, and WHR in all 820 cases decreased after treatment (at 90 days and one year), with significant differences before and after treatment (P〈0.01). Improved metabolism of blood lipids was also seen. Following treatment, LP, INS, and FBS decreased significantly (P〈0.01) and ISI increased significantly (P〈0.05). Conclusion: Catgut implantation at acupoints provided effective and persistent results, convenience, safety, painlessness, and prolonged effect 展开更多

Methods: This systematic review was carried out in accordance with the Cochrane Handbook version 5.1.0 and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta- Analyses statement. Extensive literature searches were conducted in PubMed, Excerpta Medical Databases, the Cochrane Library, the China National Infrastructure, Wanfang Chinese Digital Periodical and Conference Database, and the Weipu Chinese Science and Technique Journals Database. The Chinese Clinical Trial Registry Center was also searched for ongoing trials up to September 2012. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) or quasi-RCTs were included. Risk of bias assessment was performed using the Cochrane tool for assessing risk of bias. Results: Five RCTs with 285 participants were found from 49 relevant studies, but there was just one RCT which met the inclusion criteria for this review. The study showed that treatment of catgut implantation at acupoints could lead to a better alleviation of the signs and symptoms of AR than the crude herb moxibustion. No adverse events were reported in this study. Conclusions: Because of the methodological shortcoming and the risk of bias of the included trial catgut implantation was proved with only limited evidence for the treatment of AR. Robust RCTs with high quality and larger sample size in this field are hoped to be carried out in the future.展开更多

Conclusion For treating menopausal obesity, catgut embedding therapy not only has a good therapeutic effect on weight loss, but also improves menopausal syndrome.
文摘Objective This review aimed to systematically evaluate the evidence on the effects of acupoint catgut embedding (ACE) therapy for patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Future well- designed trials are needed to validate the therapeutic efficacy, safety, and mechanisms of ACE in patients with PCOS.

文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety of acupoint catgut embedding and acupuncture on simple obesity by Meta-analysis. METHODS: Studies on clinical randomized controlled trials of acupoint catgut embedding for simple obesity which were published from January 2015 to November 2020 were searched in Cochrane Central Register of Control Trials(Central), Pub Med, China Science and Technology Journal Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database and Wanfang databases. And those that met the inclusion criteria were screened. Rev Man5.3 was used for Meta-analysis. The “Risk of Bias” tool was used to evaluate the quality of included studies. R studio software was used for the measurement of publication bias. RESULTS: A total of 33 studies were included for Metaanalysis, including 2685 patients with simple obesity. Meta-analysis results showed the comparison of effectiveness rate was relative risk(RR) = 1.12, 95%CI(1.08, 1.16), body mass index(BMI) was mean difference(MD) =-1.12, 95%CI(-2.09,-0.14), waist circumference was MD =-2.14, 95%CI(-4.22,-0.06), and body mass was MD =-2.36, 95%CI(-3.99,-0.73). On the basis of diet and exercise intervention, the effectiveness rate [RR = 1.12, 95%CI(1.05, 1.19)], BMI [MD =-0.88, 95%CI(-1.35,-0.40)], waist circumference [MD =-1.10, 95%CI(-4.27, 2.07)], and body mass [MD =-0.68, 95%CI(-2.90, 1.54)]. The risk of bias of included literatures was low. CONCLUSIONS: Acupoint catgut embedding therapy was slightly better than acupuncture therapy in most of the outcomes. Moreover, the treatment frequency of acupoint catgut embedding is less with larger stimulation intensity, which is more conducive to clinical promotion.

文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore the difference of catgut embedding effect between acupoints and non-acupoints in patients with abdominal obesity(AO).METHODS:In this multicenter,double-blind,randomized controlled trial, all subjects were randomly assigned into the acupoint catgut embedding(ACE)group and control group(catgut embedding at non-acupoints).With a 12-week actual intervention period and a 4-week period of follow-up.Waist circumference(WC),body weight, body mass index(BMI),hip circumference(HC)and appetite were applied and assessed at baseline and after 6,12 and 16 weeks.RESULTS:After the total intervention phase(12 weeks),the WC,body weight,BMI,HC and visual analogue scale scores of appetite, decreased significantly in the two groups as compared to the baseline(P<0.001).Meanwhile,after the 4-week follow-up,the indicators still decreased significantly in the ACE group(P<0.001).At 12 and 16 weeks, catgut embedding at acupoints showed significantly advantages to non-acupoints in WC and appetite(P<0.05).No serious adverse events were observed in ACE group and control group.CONCLUSIONS:Catgut embedding at acupoints and non-acupoints are all effective and safe for AO.ACE can effectively treat AO as expected and deliver lasting results.
文摘Objective To compare the therapeutic effect of catgut embedding combined with diet plus exercise with that of diet plus exercise in treating simple obesity complicated with abnormal blood fat. Methods A prescription of diet plus exercise was given to the patients in a control group, and catgut embedding was added to the prescription in a treatment group. It was given once every 15 days for the 1st three treatments, and once every month for the 2^nd three treatments. Six treatments constituted a therapeutic course. Body weight and blood fat were measured before and half a year since treatment. Results After treatment, BMI, TO, TG and LDL were very significantly improved in the treatment group (P〈0.01), and BMI and TG were very significantly (P〈0.01) and TO and LDL were significantly (P〈0.05) improved in the control group. HDL was not obviously improved in both groups (P〉0.05). The improvement of TO, TG and LDL in the treatment group was significantly more than that in the control group (P〈0.01), but no difference in improvement of BMI and HDL was found between the two groups (P〉0.05). Conclusion The therapy of diet plus exercise was effective in body weight reduction and lowering blood fat in patients with simple obesity complicated with abnormal blood fat, and catgut embedding used in combination was even better in lowering blood fat.

文摘Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of treatment with catgut implantation at acupoints on simple obesity. Conclusion: Catgut implantation at acupoints provided effective and persistent results, convenience, safety, painlessness, and prolonged effect

文摘Objective: To assess the effectiveness and the possible adverse effects of catgut implantation at acupoints for allergic rhinitis (AR). Robust RCTs with high quality and larger sample size in this field are hoped to be carried out in the future.
