Its intensity includes three levels: TBB〉268 K for weak monsoon, 268 KETBB〉263 K for normal monsoon and TBB≤263K for strong monsoon over the South China sea and East Asia. In the meantime, a diagnostic method using TBB pentad anomaly is also introduced to help identify monsoon intensity. The SMI is used to run statistical analyses of the initial onset of the monsoon and its pentad variations with the year and month. A fairly close relationship is found between pentad monsoon activity and heavy rainfall periods in the two typical flood years of 1994 and 1998, which resulted from heavy rainfall over the Yangtze River basin and south China.展开更多

However its temperature distribution is not homogeneous. A hopeful way to obtain the area-temperature distribution of the solar photosphere is to solve the Black-body Radiation Inversion (BRI) problem. In this paper, a new practical solution method for BRI is developed. The theoretical analysis and numerical calculations show the low-temperature distribution difficulty of BRI is solved by this new method. Then the area-temperature distribution of the solar photosphere is obtained, according to the measured absolute solar spectral irradiance. It is the first realization of BRI for a real system after almost three decades of efforts. The results are comparable to that from the Stefan-Boltzmann law.展开更多

By considering an additional near-horizon boundary of the black hole, set by its quantum length, the black hole can obtain an arbitrary temperature. Black-body radiation is still present and fits as the source of the Universe’s missing energy. Support for this hypothesis is offered by showing that a stationary solution to the black hole’s length scale is the same if derived from a quantum analysis in continuous time, a quantum analysis in discrete time, or a general relativistic analysis.展开更多

Consequently, the features of MCS, such as area, intensity, life cycle, activity region and shape, are obtained. High Resolution Limited Area Analysis and Forecasting System (HLAFS) values provided by China National Meteorological Center are used to study the relationships between the MCS trajectories and their environmental physical field values, based on the distribution and trajectories of MCSs over the Tibetan Plateau. Favorable environmental physical field charts of influencing MCS movement out of the Tibetan Plateau in different UTC (Universal Time Coordinate) are developed by using spatial data mining techniques at levels of 400hPa and 500hPa, respectively.展开更多

It suggests that the first clue of the El Ni event appeared in December 2001. The event was formed at the end of 2002 after five phases of development, and came into the phase of flourishing in the winter of 2002. From the analysis the dynamics, it is noted that that the position of the ascending branch of Walker cell was moving from the equatorial west Pacific to the equatorial central Pacific in the phase of formation and development of the El Ni駉 event. The process of diagnosis shows that it can provide an important clue for forecasting the genesis and development of the El Ni駉 episodes.展开更多
