The investigation of security regions will lead to a new methodology on power system planning and dispatch. Using the liaearized load flow model, which regards bus voltage magnitudes and branch angles as state variables, and some properties of affine mapping, some geometric descriptions of active power steady-state security regions are presented. Approximate hypercuboid(HC) security regions, i.e. "global regions" and "response regions" with losses taken into consideration, are briefly described. An expanding algorithm to construct such HCs is recommended and justified with an illustrative example network. The region-wise approach has made advances towards the practical application by using the global region in cooperation with the reponse region.展开更多
