In research on social stratification that has always been a hot and difficult issue in sociology for 20 years.Two great changes in social structure,being caused by the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 19...In research on social stratification that has always been a hot and difficult issue in sociology for 20 years.Two great changes in social structure,being caused by the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1994.Reform and opening up began in 1978,have generally been taken as a macro perspective.A consensus about the basic features of benefits structure in China’s society finds expression in the viewpoints, “it is the power that seizes and `redistributes’the social resources".The secondary institutional management such as status systems and unite systems have resulted in the separation of the city from the countryside and the apparent differences among three important status groups,“cadres”,“workers”,and ”peasants".As for research on social status since the beginning of the reform,somebody points out that there are currently three relationship modes of the allocation of social resources,namely,power granting relationship,market exchange relationship,social relationship networks.Some scholars hold that althought the reform and opening up brought about the significant differentiation and reconstruction of social status structure fully expressed in the generation of new benefits groups,such as the private enterprises owners,white collar groups,yet status groups with clear bounds,structure and stratification have not formed.展开更多
