The Qinghai-Tibet railway, the highest and longest plateau railway in the world, has a total length of 1,956 kilometers, 1,142 kilometers of it newly built. It is a world wonder to build a railway in the most frigid area of frozen soil with such a high elevation and fragile ecological environment. According to a Western railway expert, 'This project compares well with the Great Wall.' Due to the complicated geological structure along the line, engineers and technicians have to tackle many important and difficult problems. Through the joint efforts of the workers and technicians, an initial success has been achieved. Fully aware of the more severe challenges ahead, the workers firmly believe they will build the Qinghai-Tibet railway into a world-class rail line on the plateaus.展开更多
