The policies address issues such as birth,education,employment and medical treatment.Most of the public’s attention—including sometimes heated debate—has focused on two of the provisions:Give girls two additional marks on their entrance examinations for high school and vocational schools; and,in the selection of cadres,female candidates can also receive extra points,equal to two percent of the full marks,on written exams. For example,if a woman’s score is 80 on the written civil service examination,and if the maximum marks are 150,two percent of the 150 will be added to her score.That means she will receive a score of 83.
