The pressure-carrying medium used in VPF is one kind of semisolid, flowable and viscous material and its deformation behavior can be described by the visco-elastoplastic constitutive model. A sectional finite element model for the coupled deformation analysis between the viscoelastoplastic pressure-carrying medium and the elastoplastic sheet metal is proposed. The resolution of the Updated Lagrangian (UL) formulation is based on a static explicit approach. The frictional contact between sheet metal and visco-elastoplastic pressure-carrying medium is treated by the penalty function method. Coupled deformation between sheet metal and visco-elastoplastic pressure-carrying medium with large slip is analyzed to validate the developed algorithm. Finally, the viscous pressure bulging (VPB) process of DC06 sheet metal is simulated. Good agreement between numerical simulation results and experimental measurements shows the validity of the developed algorithm.展开更多

A three dimensional constitutive visco-elastoplastic model is introduced, in tensor as well as in numerical form. The associated uniaxial model is used to arrange a plastic element in series with the viscoelastic component. The latter is defined by an elastic spring placed in parallel with three Maxwell elements. Three different hardening laws, namely isotropic, kinematic and mixed hardening, are included in the constitutive model to compare the creep deformability. The proposed constitutive model has been calibrated and validated on the basis of uniaxial creep-recovery test results at 40℃. This is performed with a high performance hot mix asphalt concrete (HP-HMA) at different stresses and loading times. Depending on the hardening law considered, permanent deformation data predicted by the proposed model results are reasonably consistent with the experimental creep-recovery data. A rational constitutive model that is physically congruent with the creep phenomenon of asphalt concretes was developed and calibrated to achieve a deeper understanding of the stress-strain response of such materials. The fundamental relevance of an appropriate plastic response modeling, in the study of the creep behavior of asphalt concretes for highway and road pavements.展开更多

The model parameters are treated as quadratic polynomial functions with respect to stress and temperature. A series of uniaxial compressive creep experiments are performed at various stress and temperature conditions in order to determine these parameter functions, and then the proposed model is validated by comparison between the predictions and experiments at the other loading conditions. It is shown that very small permanent deformation at low stress and temperature increases rapidly with elevated stress or temperature and the damage may initiate in the stationary stage but mainly develops in the accelerated stage. Compared with the visco-elastoplastic models without damage, the predictions from the proposed model is in better agreement with the experiments, and can better capture the rate-dependency in creep responses of asphalt mastic especially below its softening point of 47 ℃展开更多
