Timely detachment of gaseous products from the electrode surface and the electrolyte is beneficial to the reduction of energy consumption of the electrolytic cell. In the existing industrial electrolytic cells, the circulating pump drives the electrolyte flowing to discharge the gaseous products. Up to now, several much more advanced strategies have been explored to deal with the negative effects of bubbles. In this review, we summarized various strategies for bubble detachment, including electrode design, external field imposing and system upgrading. We also elaborated the principle, functional features, practicability, advantages and limitations of each method. Finally, challenges and perspectives are also provided for the further development of advanced bubbles detachment strategies for efficient hydrogen evolution.展开更多

The idea of these procedures is to split some scattered field into a sum of fields coming from different spatial regions such that this information can be used either for inversion algo- rithms or for active noise control. Splitting algorithms can be based on general boundary layer potential representation or Green's representation formula. We will prove the unique decomposition of scattered wave outside the specified reference domain G and the unique decomposition of far-field pattern with respect to different reference domain G. Further, we employ the splitting technique for field reconstruction for a scatterer with two or more separate components, by combining it with the point source method for wave recovery. Us-ing the decomposition of scattered wave as well as its far-field pattern, the wave splitting procedure proposed in this paper gives an efficient way to the computation of scattered wave near the obstacle, from which the multiple obstacles which cause the far-field pattern can be reconstructed separately. This considerably extends the range of the decomposition methods in the area of inverse scattering. Finally, we will provide numerical examples to demonstrate the feasibility of the splitting method.展开更多

In this work, the field is applied in an instant manner and a slow manner, respectively; the field strength is linear increased. With instantly raising the field, it is observed that the ferrofluid layer is split into several regularly distributed micro-droplets, and that the number of micro-droplets is linear to the magnetic field strength and the thickness of the liquid layers. When the field is slowly increased, a liquid ring together with several micro-droplets appears from the ferrofluid layer splitting. A spatial drift of the micro-droplets is also observed in the process of increasing the magnetic field. Our results are useful for manipulating the splitting regularities of ferrofluid layers by magnetic field, which may be used in non-contact segmentation, and magnetically manipulated drug carriers for targeting the therapy, etc.展开更多
