Soft open points(SOPs)are power electronic devices that may replace conventional normally-open points in distribution networks.They can be used for active power flow control,reactive power compensation,fault isolation...Soft open points(SOPs)are power electronic devices that may replace conventional normally-open points in distribution networks.They can be used for active power flow control,reactive power compensation,fault isolation,and service restoration through network reconfiguration with enhanced operation flexibility and grid resiliency.Due to unbalanced loading conditions,the voltage unbalance issue,as a common problem in distribution networks,has negative impacts on distribution network operation.In this paper,a control strategy of voltage unbalance compensation for feeders using SOPs is proposed.With the power flow control,three-phase current is regulated simultaneously to mitigate the unbalanced voltage between neighboring feeders where SOPs are installed.Feeder voltage unbalance and current unbalance among three phases are compensated with the injection of negative-sequence and zero-sequence current from SOPs.Especially in response to power outages,three-phase voltage of isolated loads is regulated to be balanced by the control of SOPs connected to the feeders under faults,even if the loads are unbalanced.A MATLAB/Simulink model of the IEEE 13-bus test feeder with an SOP across feeder ends is implemented,and experimental tests on a hardware-in-the-loop platform are implemented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.展开更多
Smart soft dielectric elastomer actuators(SSDEAs)possess wide applications in soft robotics due to their properties similar to natural muscles,including large deformation ratio,high energy density,and fast response sp...Smart soft dielectric elastomer actuators(SSDEAs)possess wide applications in soft robotics due to their properties similar to natural muscles,including large deformation ratio,high energy density,and fast response speed.However,the complicated asymmetric and rate-dependent hysteresis property,creep property and quadratic input property of the SSDEA pose enormous challenges to its dynamic modeling and motion control.In this paper,first,we construct the dynamic model of the SSDEA by connecting a square module,a one-sided Prandtl–Ishlinskii(OSPI)model and a linear system in series to describe the above properties.The key and innovative aspect of the dynamic modeling lies in cascading the square module in series with the OSPI model to construct the asymmetric hysteresis model.Subsequently,a PI-funnel and inverse hysteresis compensation(PIFIHC)cascade control method of the SSDEA is proposed to actualize its tracking control objective.By performing the inversion operation on the asymmetric hysteresis model,the inverse hysteresis compensation controller(IHCC)is designed to compensate the asymmetric hysteresis property and quadratic input property of the SSDEA.In addition,a PI-funnel controller is designed to cascade with the IHCC to construct the PIFIHC cascade controller to obtain a good tracking performance.Then,the stability analysis of the PIFIHC cascade control system of the SSDEA is performed to theoretically prove that the tracking error can be controlled within the performance funnel and the steady-state error converges to zero.Finally,several practical tracking control experiments of the SSDEA are conducted,and RRMSEs are less than 2.30%for all experiments.These experimental results indicate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed PIFIHC cascade control method of the SSDEA.展开更多
A study was conducted to analyze the deformation mechanism of strongly weathered quartz schist in the Daliangshan Tunnel,located in the western Transverse Mountain area.A large deformation problem was experienced duri...A study was conducted to analyze the deformation mechanism of strongly weathered quartz schist in the Daliangshan Tunnel,located in the western Transverse Mountain area.A large deformation problem was experienced during the tunnel construction.To mitigate this problem,a support system was designed incorporating negative Poisson ratio(NPR)anchor cables with negative Poisson ratio effect.Physical model experiments,field experiments,and numerical simulation experiments were conducted to investigate the compensation mechanical behavior of NPR anchor cables.The large deformations of soft rocks in the Daliangshan Tunnel are caused by a high ground stress,a high degree of joint fracture development,and a high degree of surrounding rock fragmentation.A compensation mechanics support system combining long and short NPR anchor cables was suggested to provide sufficient counter-support force(approximately 350 kN)for the surrounding rock inside the tunnel.Comparing the NPR anchor cable support system with the original support system used in the Daliangshan tunnel showed that an NPR anchor cable support system,combining cables of 6.3 m and 10.3 m in length,effectively prevented convergence of surrounding rock deformation,and the integrated settlement convergence value remained below 300 mm.This study provides an effective scientific basis for resolving large deformation problems in deeply buried soft rocks in western transverse mountain areas.展开更多
A synchronous buck DC-DC converter with an adaptive multi-mode controller is proposed.In order to achieve high efficiency over its entire load range,pulse-width modulation(PWM),pulse-skip modulation(PSM) and pulse...A synchronous buck DC-DC converter with an adaptive multi-mode controller is proposed.In order to achieve high efficiency over its entire load range,pulse-width modulation(PWM),pulse-skip modulation(PSM) and pulse-frequency modulation(PFM) modes were integrated in the proposed DC-DC converter.With a highly accurate current sensor and a dynamic mode controller on chip,the converter can dynamically change among PWM, PSM and PFM control according to the load requirements.In addition,to avoid power device damage caused by inrush current at the start up state,a soft-start circuit is presented to suppress the inrush current.Furthermore,an adaptive slope compensation(SC) technique is proposed to stabilize the current programmed PWM controller for duty cycle passes over 50%,and improve the degraded load capability due to traditional slope compensation.The buck converter chip was simulated and manufactured under a 0.35μm standard CMOS process.Experimental results show that the chip can achieve 79%to 91%efficiency over the load range of 0.1 to 1000 mA.展开更多
