Earthworms and its excreta (vermicast) promises to usher in the ‘Second Green Revolution’ by completely replacing the destructive agro chemicals which did more harm than good to both the farmers and their farmland. ...Earthworms and its excreta (vermicast) promises to usher in the ‘Second Green Revolution’ by completely replacing the destructive agro chemicals which did more harm than good to both the farmers and their farmland. Earthworms restore & improve soil fertility and significantly boost crop productivity. Earthworms excreta (vermicast) is a nutritive ‘organic fertilizer’ rich in humus, NKP, micronutrients, beneficial soil microbes—‘nitrogenfixing & phosphate solubilizing bacteria’ & ‘actinomycets’ and growth hormones ‘auxins’, ‘gibberlins’ & ‘cytokinins’. Both earthworms and its vermicast & body liquid (vermiwash) are scientifically proving as both ‘growth promoters & protectors’ for crop plants. In our experiments with corn & wheat crops, tomato and eggplants it displayed excellent growth performances in terms of height of plants, color & texture of leaves, appearance of flowers & fruits, seed ears etc. as compared to chemical fertilizers and the conventional compost. There is also less incidences of ‘pest & disease attack’ and ‘reduced demand of water’ for irrigation in plants grown on vermicompost. Presence of live earthworms in soil also makes significant difference in flower and fruit formation in vegetable crops. Composts work as a ‘slowrelease fertilizer’ whereas chemical fertilizers release their nutrients rather quickly in soil and soon get depleted. Significant amount of ‘chemical nitrogen’ is lost from soil due to oxidation in sunlight. However, with application of vermicompost the ‘organic nitro gen’ tends to be released much faster from the excreted ‘humus’ by worms and those mineralised by them and the net overall efficiency of nitrogen (N) is considerably greater than that of chemical fertilizers. Availability of phosphorus (P) is sometimes much greater. Formed over centuries of daily rural production activities, peasant rationality had limited efficacy within rural society and mainly functioned as a survival rationality. As rural society was transformed into industrial and commercial society, peasant rationality moved into the new society through inertia and expanded there. By combining with the advantages of the new society, it produced a kind of ＂superimposed advantage＂ that released enormous power unprecedented in both traditional rural society and modem industrial and commercial society. To comprehend the ＂China Miracle,＂ we must first understand the Chinese peasant. Similarly, to understand the peasants, we must first apprehend peasant rationality. To illustrate how the expansion of peasant rationality helped to create the ＂China Miracle,＂ it is imperative to discard the formula of tradition vs. modernity and to stress the character, attitudes and views of ordinary people in the process of social transformation.展开更多

The work includes a mathematical model of a cloud of the vibrating charged ice crystals. The paper shows the dynamic optical effects associated with the passage of light through such a vibrating medium. It also presents the simplest solution to the model in the form of graphs, which have been compared with the graphs obtained from the analysis of the amateur observations of the phenomenon in question.展开更多
In the rapid progress of China’s economic development and social security,economic development has led to a higher level of social security.Every economic crisis or economic adjustment has created the opportunity for...In the rapid progress of China’s economic development and social security,economic development has led to a higher level of social security.Every economic crisis or economic adjustment has created the opportunity for improving social security.This paper argues that there is a“shock-response”relationship between economic development and social security and analyzes how social security changed from the passive response to the active response.Due to economic growth,the politics centering on people’s livelihood has promoted the full coverage of the social security system.The government investment in social security has been increasing,showing a new pattern of“middle-level economic growth and middle-level social welfare”and is helping to shift away from the previous“put welfare behind development”model toward simultaneous development and coordinated development.Creating a virtuous cycle of social security and economic development has become a key issue that China must face and need to solve on its way to become a strong country.展开更多
