Compared with the solution of TPE-containing small molecules, this gel exhibited remarkable fluorescence enhancement due to the AIE effect of TPE units. The "gelation induced fluorescence emission" phenomenon can be explained by the hindered intramolecular rotation of phenyl rings of TPE. Because of the reversibility and stimuli-responsiveness of the B21C7/dialkylammonium salt host-guest interactions, the transition between the fluorescent supramolecular crosslinked polymer gel and the disassembled sol with very weak fluorescence can be realized by adding pH and thermal stimuli. This novel material contributes to the development of supramolecular chemistry, polymer science and fluorescent materials and offers a new method to construct functional supramolecular materials.展开更多

However, complicated organic/polymeric synthesis or post-modification of these functionalized platforms is still a big obstacle for their further application and thereby provides clear motivation for exploring alternative strategies for the design and fabrication of easily available fluorescent systems. The marriage of supramolecular polymers and fluorescent imaging can provide a facile and dynamic manner instead of tedious and time-consuming synthesis due to the dynamic and reversible nature of noncovalent interactions. Herein, based on water-soluble pillararene/paraquat molecular recognition, we successfully prepare two amphiphilic polypseudorotaxanes which can self-assemble into supramolecular polymersomes in water. These polymersomes can be reversibly destroyed and reformed by tuning the solution p H. Attributed to the aggregation-induced emission of tetraphenylethylene groups, intense fluorescence can be introduced into the obtained supramolecular polymersomes. Furthermore, p H-triggered release of an encapsulated water-insoluble drug(doxorubicin) from the self-assembled fluorescent supramolecular polymersomes is also investigated.展开更多

So far, many strategies have succeeded in achieving efficient organic RTP materials by increasing the rate of intersystem crossing(ISC) and suppressing non-radiative transitions. In supramolecular chemistry, the control and regulation of molecular recognition based on the role of the host and guest in supramolecular polymers matrix, has attracted much attention. Recently, researchers have successfully achieved room temperature phosphorescence of pure organic complexes through host-guest interactions. The host molecule specifically includes the phosphorescent guest to reduce non-radiative transitions and enhance room temperature phosphorescence emission. This review aims to describe the developments and achievements of pure organic room temperature phosphorescence systems through the mechanism of host-guest interactions in recent years, and demonstrates the exploration and pursuit of phosphorescent materials of researchers in different fields.展开更多

Among them, water-soluble pillar[n]arenes bearing triethylene oxide (TEO) chains have drawn increasing research interest due to their advantageous properties. In this review, we summarized the recent progress of dynamic materials fabricated from water soluble pillar[n]arenes bearing TEO groups, including thermo responsive materials with lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behavior, cyclic host liquids, and smart windows. It is anticipated that more and more ‘smart' supramolecular materials based on modified pillar[n]arenes will be developed in this burgeoning area of research.展开更多
